6-56 Guru ji’s Seet Prashaad Buried/ Shameer’s Many Births Completed in his Dream
Eleven days passed since Guru ji had arrived in Deena Kangar. Many types of foods were made. Chaudhary Shameer would serve Guru ji with love. One day, delicious foods were made for Guru ji. The plate was brought before Guru ji. Bhai Shameer ji stood by with a fan, waving it to Guru ji. Guru ji ate the food and drank water. When Guru ji was satiated, Chaudhary Shameer spoke: “please give me your Seet Prashaad, the food out of your plate that is left over. I wish to eat it.” Sri Guru ji said: “take my plate with the food. Sit here and eat it. You are a person with love and devotion. Eat it with love.” Chaudhary Shameer folded his hands and said: “I wish to take it home. I wish to share it with my family and have them all eat a little with love.” Chaudhary Shameer covered the plate and took it home.
Bhai Shameer called his brothers and Mamma as well. He said: “I have brought the Mahaprashaad of Guru ji’s plate. I asked for it. This will bless all of us. Your tasks will be fulfilled.” He said this and removed the sheet that was covering the plate. There was Jhatka meat in the plate with big pieces. The Mamma got worried seeing this (as he followed the Peer and ate Halal meat). He was from Jaito. He said to his nephews: “I worship the Ghugha Sultan with love. If we eat the Prashaad of the Guru, the Peer will get mad and destroy our money and wealth. The Peer has been fulfilling our wishes from the beginning.” Chaudhary Shameer ji heard this and got worried. He thought to himself: “I asked for the food from Guru ji. Mamma has casted a doubt. This Prashaad can only be achieved by good Karma. It’s like a poor person getting the Paras. Mamma doesn’t understand this. He has doubts upon Guru ji.” The Mamma said to Lakhmeer and Shameer ji: “don’t eat this!” Lakhmeer said to Shameer: “if Mamma doesn’t let us eat this, let’s bury it into the ground so nobody knows. Guru ji will remain on good terms with us and the Peer won’t be angry either.” They came to this decision of burying the food. Shameer’s idea and wish wasn’t followed as the Mamma was corrupt. He didn’t let anyone eat the Mahaprashaad of Guru ji. He did a very bad thing. Shameer was upset at his Mamma. Nobody ate the food. The food was buried into the ground. Without Pararabadh, destiny, nobody can get anything.
It was night and so everyone slept. Shameer ji woke up in the morning and came to Guru ji. He folded his hands and bowed but his chest was pounding with worry. Sri Guru ji asked: “you took the Mahaprashaad, did you eat it or not, the one that was going to give you happiness?” Chaudhary Shameer lost his patience and said: “my Mamma from Jaito; he didn’t let us eat the food. He follows the Sarvaria and didn’t let us eat the Jhatka because the Peer would get angry. He said our wealth and money will be destroyed if the Peer gets angry. We took the Prashaad and buried it into the ground. Nobody ate your Prashaad. You know this Prabhoo, without me telling you. I told you the truth.” Satguru ji heard this and laughed. He said: “the land of Jungle Desh is satiated now! You didn’t get it. That fool (the Mamma) ruined it. You didn’t respect food. You earned bad Karma. Such actions lead to droughts if you lose respect for food. There was a Raja here, thousands of years before, named Bhadra Sen. He disrespected food as well. His land was ruined and since then it was known as the Jungle Desh. There used to be two rivers that ran through this land: Bhatli and Chitra. They stopped flowing here, deeming this place as impure. My Seet Prashaad has come here now. You did a bad thing but the land will give a lot of food because it received my Seet Prashaad. The land is satiated and the impurity of the land is washed away. You will live here as subjects; that I can see. You didn’t obey me when I told you to take your horse around and you didn’t eat my Seet Prashaad. It wasn’t in your destiny to become kings. The land of Jungle Desh will produce a lot of food now. It will produce double, quadruple and 8 times as much as before. This will be my “Malva.” It will prosper. Thousands of Singhs will be born here and they will be known as Malvais. Listen Sikh Shameer, I wanted to give you a lot of things. Firstly, you lost the kingdom (by not taking your horse beyond the limits of your village). Now, you lost the Moksha (by not eating my Seet Prashaad). The one who didn’t let you eat my food, the Mamma of Jaito, he will fall ill because of this. He will become a leper. Then, his family will become sick with the illness. It will stay in his family.” I, Kavi Santokh Singh, have see the family. The Mamma’s family still has leprosy in the family. One or two people in the family have the illness in every generation.
Satguru ji was happy with Shameer’s devotion though. He saw his Seva. He thought to himself: “I give him things but he doesn’t take them.” On another day, Guru ji was happy and said: “whatever is in your heart, ask for it from me without doubt. Tell me what you want.” Chaudhary Shameer folded his hands and spoke with humility: “I wish my 84 to be erased. Coming into the world is painful. Sri Satguru ji, save me from this fear of taking birth in the 84 Lakh species.” Sri Prabhoo ji heard this and went quiet. He changed the subject and talked about something else. After a few days, Guru ji became compassionate again. Chaudhary Shameer was doing Seva with love. [Chaudhary Shameer showed great bravery when Aurangzeb wrote to him and told him to surrender his Peer. Shameer ji responded: “if I would ask you to surrender your Peer, would you? I can’t give you my Peer. Guru ji was happy with Shameer’s bravery] Guru ji called Chaudhary Shameer over and said: “I am really happy with you. Ask for what your mind wishes.” Shameer ji said: “please erase my birth and death. This is really painful, Prabhoo ji.” Guru ji heard this and said: “you have many births remaining still. You have to be born many times because your Karma is too complicated. How much can I save you? Ask for something else. Don’t ask for Mukti. Ask for something else. I am happy with your Seva. You have a lot of love. You have no corruption in your heart. You speak the truth. I have seen this many times. I will make your efforts a success. I will give you right away.” Shameer ji heard this and said: “Prabhoo ji, give me Mukti. Keep me with you forever. This is what I ask for. I have no other wish besides cutting my bonds.” Guru ji heard the stubbornness and ignored him. Some days passed again. Guru ji was happy again. Guru ji was not at rest as he hadn’t completed his servant’s wish. Guru ji wanted to give the status of keeping Shameer close to him. One day, Guru ji called Chaudhary Shameer and said: “ask for a wish which is in your mind; as you are stubborn over it.” Shameer said: “Prabhoo ji, save me from the world. Erase my 84. I don’t wish to be born again. I don’t want the noose of the Jumms around my neck again.” Guru ji laughed and said: “I will give it to you! Come again in the morning!” Chaudhary Shameer bowed and left with bliss in his chest.
After doing all of Guru ji’s Sevas, Chaudhary Shameer went home at night and went to sleep. That night, he saw the most unique dreams. He saw dreams where he was a crow. He saw many lives as a crow, vulture, peacock, Chakva, sparrow, swan, deer, rabbit and many other animals and birds. After seeing lives as many animals, he dreamt that he was born as a human. He saw himself being born as ants, insects, crickets, lizards and other small insects. He saw himself being born, living the life out and dying. He would die and be born again in his dream. The last birth was where he was born in a home of poor Chandaals. He was married and had 6 or 7 children. He was very poor. He was born into the Jungle Desh. There was famine in the land. There was nothing to eat. Hungry, he went to the jungle and climbed to eat Peeloo. He broke them off from the branches and gave them to his family. He was in pain in his dream. He had his sons and daughters along with his wife, standing under the Peeloo plants. He climbed the tree to feed his children. He broke them off and fed his family. He then climbed a thin branch, in greed to taking more. The branch broke and Shameer fell. When he got hurt, he awoke from his dream, opening his eyes. When he awoke, he was amazed to see such dreams. After waking up, he went to go relieve himself somewhere. He sat down to relieve his bodily wastes. He began thinking of his dreams; of the many bodies he had in his birth. As he had eaten a lot of Peeloos in his dream, his feces contained parts of the Peeloo. He saw this and got worried. He was confused. He then cleaned his teeth with meshwak. He continued to think about his dream. As he cleaned his teeth, he saw the seeds of the Peeloo stuck in his teeth. Seeing the seeds of the Peeloo, he was shocked. He thought to himself: “what is happening to me? I ate the Peeloos in my dream. Was that a dream or was it for real? The pain that I felt, was it true? I don’t understand what happened to me.” Shameer bathed and got ready. He put his clothes on and came to Guru ji.
Chaudhary Shameer bowed to Guru ji’s feet and stood in front of him with his hands folded. Prabhoo ji asked: “why are you worried? Don’t think about anything. Be in bliss! You have been saved! In one night, I have settled your complete Karma balance.” Chaudhary Shameer became humble and bowed to Guru ji’s feet over and over again. He said: “Prabhoo ji, please tell me what this riddle was. I am really worried. Was the dream true? I can’t figure it out. It is not the season of Peeloos. I didn’t eat Peeloos. My feces had Peeloos in them. There were Peeloo seeds in my teeth. I checked hard. They really were there. This is the reason I am worried.” Sri Guru ji said: “you had a lot of births remaining. I made you experience them all in your dream. I gave you the wisdom and experience in one night. You asked me everyday about erasing your 84. Without a doubt, I have cut it. You won’t see the noose of the Jumms again. You have achieved the impossible status even for Jogis. You have been saved! You won’t see the troubles again.” As Guru ji was speaking, there was a Tarkhaan sitting there from Dyaalpur. He spoke by bowing his head and folding his hands: “bless me with him as well. Save me from the world as well. See me as your own servant. Say the words.” Prabhoo ji was really happy with the Tarkhaan as well. He saw his love. He blessed him as well and said: “you will leave your Pranas when Shameer leaves his. Both of you will stay with me in Sach Khand. Your bonds will be broken.” Both held Guru ji’s lotus feet with bliss and said: “Dhan Dhan Sri Satguru! You are the destroyer of pain. You made both our worlds successful in the blink of an eye. The whole world begs from you and you are the only giver.”
6-57 Boon for Dyaal Das of Sirhind/ Zafarnama
While staying in Deena, Sri Satguru ji became well known in the area around. Hindus and Turks would say the name of the Prabhoo while speaking of Guru ji’s praises: “he is such a great warrior. The 22 Soobas of the Hindustan Empire were given a severe blow. They are shaken up. They fear Guru ji because Lakhs of their men were killed. They suffered defeat from only 40 Singhs. Their Empire has been uprooted.”
Guru ji had been in Deena Kangar for a few months. Just a few days after the Battle of Chamkaur, Guru ji had cursed the Turks that their kingdom and radiance will be destroyed. He also cursed Chamkaur, that every brick in the city will be broken by the Singhs. He said: “the city of Sirhind will be ruined, where such a severe sin took place.” There was a powerful Sanyasi of the Puri Samprada that lived in Sirhind. His name was Sant Seetal ji. The saint chanted “Satnam” with patience. He had a student named Sant Dyaal Das Puri ji. He was a powerful saint who also lived in Sirhind. He found out that Guru ji had cursed his city: “my city will be ruined where I live. Guru ji’s words cannot be reversed by any Devata or Daynt. I’m just a human. What power do I have? How can I help my city? I lived have lived here. I ate and drank here. I will go to the Prabhoo and request him to spare us. He may accept my request.” After thinking about this, he set off for Deena. He took some gifts with him. He travelled about 150 km from his home to Deena. He met Chaudhary Shameer ji and asked him to see Guru ji. When Sant Dyaal Das ji was given permission, he met Guru ji in the Chabarra of the Tarkhaans. He folded his hands and bowed his head. He said: “I bow to your lotus feet, oh beautiful Guru form. You are the Ishwar who took an Avatar. You have influenced the world. Nobody can know your form, Prabhoo. May you always be victorious! May you always be victorious! May you always be victorious! Be compassionate and see me. You first came in the family of Bedis. Guru Nanak Dev ji and the other Gurus, you came as that form. He came in 10 forms as the Maharaja. You saved so many people, more than there are stars in the universe. You made the Panth of Singh warriors. They will uproot the sinners. They have the Kesh and Kacheras. They are always with the weapons. They chant the Naam and you gave them the great radiance. Such a Panth has never existed before. They destroy the sorrows of your servants in both Loks. They are really radiant and really powerful. They have done great tasks and they killed the sinners with your weapons. Who can face them in all 3 Loks? You protect the honour of your servants and destroy their problems. You ate the snake of attachment like the King of the Birds (Garud). May you always be victorious! May you always be victorious! May the Giver of Mukti be always victorious! Your handsome Kshatriyas are radiant on the battlefield. You are compassionate and forgiving on this earth. Whoever shows you their anger, you wield your weapons and destroy them. You destroyed Lakhs of the Malech. You are the protector of saints. You are the form of Bir Rass. Live in the hearts of your servants. Your form is beautiful. You are the king of kings. Those who are stuck in the well of attachment, you are their saviour. Chandra, Soorya, Varun, Kuber, Indra, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and all of the Devatas stand in front of you with their hands folded, waiting for your commands. The love of your lotus feet lives in the hearts of saints. The ones who chant your name, they will be saved from this world ocean. You are greatest giver of Amrit, Mukti and Anand. I bow to you with my hands folded!” Hearing the praises of the Sadhoo, Guru ji laughed out loud. Guru ji said: “Dyaal Puri! Tell me your task by which you have come so eagerly. You came all the way to the Jungle Desh, leaving your home. What wish is in your heart? What have you thought about?” The Sadhoo Dyaal Puri ji heard this and said his request: “I am from the place where the biggest sin of the world has taken place. I am from the place where the Sahibzadas were killed. You cursed that city. I live in that city. I have many students and followers there. We heard of your curse. Everyone is scared. Some came to me with fear. I left my Dera to come here so they can be spared. I came to your sanctuary on behalf of many people. Many people have come with me. Please be compassionate and say the words by which our homes will remain protected.” Guru ji heard the humble words of the saint and said: “you came and met me. That is good. You are forgiven. You will be saved. When you go home, go to your rooftop and blow a conch. Make sure all of your students and followers hear it. As far as the blowing of your conch will be heard, the houses will remain safe there. Those places will be saved. The rest of the city will be ruined. It will not survive. The Khalsa will not touch your places. The huge mansions will be destroyed. Men and women will cry and beat themselves in sorrow. They will be in pain and ruined. Where the markets are now, my Panth will plough the fields there. The Turks will be destroyed right away. The Singhs will loot them and mix them with the dust. The rich Turks will be killed. Some signs will remain but the houses will not be seen. There will a lot of chaos there. Everyone will see this. One market near your home will remain. Everything else will be destroyed. My Panth will kill and loot the area to take revenge.” Sant Dyaal Puri ji heard this and bowed his head. He said: “Dhan Guru ji! You are the Omnipotent One. You are the ocean of Gyaan.” He took leave and went back home with bliss.
Sant Dyaal Puri ji went back home and climbed his rooftop. He blew his conch really loud. Whoever heard the blowing of his conch, those people’s generations still live there. The city was many Kos wide but it is destroyed now in the modern time because of Guru ji’s curse. The Turks also heard of Guru ji’s curse: “he cursed us and fought a huge battle. He is now sitting in Kangar after the wars. He destroyed Lakhs of our armies, fighting a fierce battle. The whole country is in mourning. He killed Lakhs of his enemies. He is staying in the village of Jaats without any fear. He has no fort, no army and no money or home.” When Wajeed (Wazir) Khan heard this, he wrote a letter and sent it off to Chaudhary Shameer ji: “oh Lakhmeer and Shameer, you aren’t afraid in your heart. You are the men who serve the crown. Your Guru is the enemy of the Shah. Arrest him and surrender him to us. He is with you right now. Otherwise we will arrest all of you and punish everyone. A huge army will come to fight you. Stay ready! If you want what is good for you, arrest the Guru. Don’t leave.” Chaudhary Lakhmeer and Shameer read this letter to Guru ji. They wrote a letter back to the Sooba: “he is our Guru Peer! He goes where he wishes to go. Why wouldn’t we serve him? He is the giver of Mukti. Look at yourself first. You serve your Peers. Worry about them first. You keep them in your home and give them good food to eat. You speak sweetly to them and give them good beds to sleep on.” They wrote this letter as a counter-threat to the Sooba’s Peers. They told the messenger to stay in Sirhind: “If the Sooba sends an army, come ahead to tell us.”
Satguru ji got ready on his side. He enlisted the Brars, Sidhus and Bhullars in his army and kept many other servants. He kept foot and mounted soldiers. He wanted to fight the enemy. Guru ji stayed in the same Chabarra, casually. As he would sit, he would take a Kard and scratch the tip with his finger. Sometimes blood would come out. One day, Chaudhary Lakhmeer saw this and thought to himself: “he speaks to the Sangat about his wisdom but scratches the tip of the Kard with his finger.” He asked Guru ji: “your finger gets cut as you rub the Kard with your finger. What is the reason you are doing that?” Guru ji said: “the deep root of the Turks, I am cutting it, piece by piece. It will be destroyed in the future. It won’t be seen again.” Bhai Maan Singh ji said: “the one who destroyed his own Imaan, first destroy Nauranga! He caused chaos in the whole world. He is the root and needs to fall first. Then, Wajeeda and others should be punished. They need to be punished for their sins. The whole world would see how these sinners will suffer.” Sri Guru ji said: “Nauranga can be killed in battle but he is in the south, very far from here. It won’t work like this. If I write a “Letter of Victory” to him, he will read it and die. My Panth will take revenge from the others.” Guru ji asked for ink, quills and paper. He decided to write the “Zafarnama.”
Guru ji wrote the Zafarnama with many Baints: “Sri Akaal Karta Purakh.” He praised Akaal Purakh in the Zafarnama first. He then spoke to Aurangzeb: “you gave your oaths. You swore upon your Imaan. You wanted to meet me. You broke your oaths with deceit. You sent an army of 1,000,000 to attack.” Guru ji mentioned the Battle of Chamkaur next: “my men were attacked by your armies. 1,000,000 came without notice. What were 40 hungry men going to do? My men fought with bravery. They killed your armies. I saw Nahar Khan climbing a ladder. I shot him and Ghani Khan with arrows. Your Khwaja Mardood hid behind a wall. I saw the strength of all your officers. They were all liars! You will go to Hell, suffering for many years. You were unjust. You will be punished for this! Your rule will only be for 8 more days. Do what your mind pleases.” Guru ji wrote the Daastaans of other Emperors. He wrote other great scholarly Baints. The Baints were written in beautiful poetry. Whatever Guru ji wanted to say, he said it. 12 Hakayats were written with many stories for the fool to hear. Guru ji wrote his Katha and sent it to Nauranga. By reading this, Nauranga would understand that he was a sinner: “the Prabhoo made kings to spread the Dharma. I can count many kings who spread and earned Dharma. You, Nauranga, are a king sitting on the throne. You should have earned Dharma but you earned sins. What face will you show in the court of Allah? Your good and bad Karma will be revealed and go with you there. You first wrote to me that you wanted to meet me but you earned sin. You sent many armies to surround me. What justice was this? You are egotistical. Your reading of the Quran is a lie. You didn’t earn anything by reading the Quran. If you say that you were just, then listen what you did: I lived on a rock, a hill. I didn’t take any village of the Paharis. I didn’t stop the country or take over any fort. I didn’t declare anything. I never ate anything from anyone else. I only ate what the Prabhoo gave me. I meditated on the One Akaal. I didn’t hurt anyone. You first arrested my father and had him killed. You thought this was your bravery. It was your corruption. Just as you are unjust, your Rajas are the same. You killed my Sikh Sangats and did a very bad thing. You killed Sikhnis and kids. You looted them. This was unjust. Understand this. This injustice was in your house. It is not in the Prabhoo’s home. Whatever good or bad anyone does, they are given the correct fruits. 1,000,000 Turks and Paharis surrounded us. They swore upon the cow and the Quran. You broke the oaths. When we left the fort, the army attacked us from behind. We fought and then reached Chamkaur. I had 40 Singhs with me who fought bravely. They were hungry, what could they do? You sent unlimited armies. You killed my 4 Sahibzadas with deceit. My coiled Snake, the Khalsa, is still alive! Kaal Purakh protected me with his hand. When you go to his court, you will be asked: “What did the Ramdas’s ruin of yours?” What will you say? You did very bad things. Be alert! That time is very near for you. You will be scared in the court. I will be the witness to your atrocities. You will have no response. The Hells are made for people of deception. They will burn you in the fires of Hell and you will scream. King and pauper are the same there. Nobody is heard there. The insects (lower castes) are heard before the elephants (egotistical). If you are proud of the fact that you worked (making hats for Muslims) and ate from that profit; not from the royal treasury, that you would be forgiven; then your pride is false. Horses eat Jow grains and fight in battle. They do not become Vallis (saints). They die towing all the weight. If horses can’t be Vallis, how will you? Your ego is false and you have lost Heaven. If you are proud that you read the Quran, that you will be forgiven; this is a lie. You read the Quran from your mouth not from your heart. Your heart has corruption in it. Without good deeds, nobody is forgiven, count this in your heart. Writing the Quran by the feathers of the Daggar bird, one does not become a Valli. You see yourself as a Valli and are egotistical. If you are proud of your Bandagi; that you read two of four Aiyats and you would be saved; you are delusional. Bandagi is what makes your heart pure. You are the opposite. You are greedy and deceitful. You did what you wanted to do. You had your own father and brothers killed. What Bandagi did you do? You only earned deception. If you think you follow the Pikambhar, that he will give your reference, that is false. He will only give a reference to who will follow his commands. You were to let go of what needed to be let go of. You didn’t earn what you were supposed to. You didn’t listen to the Peer. How will he save you? The Maya is a skeleton. The one who wishes for it is a dog. You will not be forgiven. Your Karma is all bad. The pride that you have of breaking idols; there are many idols in many homes. They will grow even more. The Hindus worship them and bow to them. If you break one, Lakhs more will be made. Understand this. If you are proud of your Shariya and think you will be forgiven, many men in the Shariya are not forgiven. If Shariya gives Mukti, then why would anyone do Bhagti? Who would serve the saints then? Without the happiness of the Sahib, nobody can live in his court. Without the Bandagi of the Sahib, everything else is a lie and garbage. If you are proud that everyone praises you, that you will be forgiven, this is an illusion. The ones who praise you because of greed, they will go to Hell with you. They have turned their backs to the Prabhoo and will be punished. The Sahib knows every heart. Nothing is covered for him. Only the praise of the Sahib can get you blessed. Who were you trusting and had faith in? The bad that you did will become a chain around your neck. To plant Kikkars and getting mangoes, this has never happened. What you plant is what you get. You have to do it yourself. The Khalsa will get revenge! It won’t leave anyone. Whatever pain you give, that is how much you will suffer.” Guru ji wrote many Ghazzals and Rubais: “no Paikamber will assist you. They won’t come for you. Nobody will be with you. You broke your Imaan.” Guru ji wrote this so his shame would awaken and would understand his stubbornness. Guru ji wrote such words that would kill him by making him depressed.
6-58 Sending the Zafarnama/ Departing from Deena
In this way, Satguru ji wrote the Zafarnama to Aurangzeb. He strangled his soul. He wrote other examples of deeds which burnt Nauranga’s heart. Guru ji said: “you thought you were doing good by spreading the Shariya. You sent your commands everywhere and thought you were earning good deeds by reading the Quran and spreading the Shariya. You were egotistical. You didn’t think you would be punished. You thought you wouldn’t go to the Dojak. You were quite certain on that.” Guru ji shot down every one of Nauranga’s proud illusions about himself. The complete Guru wrote the Hakayats, proving Nauranga wrong. He said to the Turk King: “you will go to Hell for sure! You killed the Sahibzadas with deception. This grave sin is on your head. You took an oath not to attack us while I would come to meet you. You broke your own oath. Aurangzeb, where is your father Shah Jahan now? Where is your grandfather Jahangir now? Where is your great grandfather Akbar now? His father Humayun and his father Babar; they are all gone! You won’t last either! They died and became dust. They played a game of a few days and died. You thought this world was real. This is just a farce.” Guru ji wrote beautiful Baints in Farsi, in perfect poetic measures. Reading this, Aurangzeb would become depressed and die: “after this, you will die! I will take revenge on everyone! I will kill them all and burn the kingdom of the Turks!” He wrote the Ik and then Oankaar Satnam, the Mantra. He wrote the Vahiguru ji ki Fateh with beauty. 12 times the Fateh was written. The beautiful papers were collected. Guru ji’s writing was beautiful. The letter was named “Zafarnama,” to kill the enemy. Guru ji said to the Singhs: “over here, we killed Lakhs of his men and put dust in their eyes; over there, the Emperor will die by reading this letter. This is the reason why I have called this “the Letter of Victory.” They will be destroyed from both sides. The kingdom of the Turks will now be destroyed. Daya Singh, take this letter in a good way and meet the Turk Emperor. Go to him and speak to him, being alert. Don’t be scared, not even a little bit. Your words will hold great power. I have put the power in your speech. Whatever you say will become true. Go to the Dakhan Desh and meet the Badshah. Go as an Ahidee, Royal messenger. Go on a bed with full royal status. Just as the Badshah sent Ahidees to the Guru’s home, you will go as an Ahidee to the Shah’s home. Take Dharam Singh with you. Don’t delay this great task. Do it quickly.” Bhai Daya Singh ji and Bhai Dharam Singh ji wore blue Cholas and took Guru ji’s permission to leave. Bhai Daya Singh ji made preparations as per Guru ji’s command. He climbed a bed and set off. He took the Zafarnama with him. He tied the letter to his head, as it was Gurbani. Both Singhs bowed with love and folded their hands. Bhai Dharam Singh ji bowed and joined Bhai Daya Singh ji. They both left for Guru ji’s task. Both Sikhs were happy. Bhai Daya Singh ji sat on a bed like Ahidees. They travelled like the Hazis of the Kabba or the Ahidees of the Badshah. The men of the village picked up the bed to travel. Bhai Dharam Singh ji took a hunting dog with him and walked along the bed. The villagers travelled from village to village to carry the bed up to the boundary of the next village. The Singhs were travelling to kill the Emperor.
The Singhs first went to Delhi and rested at the Dharamsala. They met the Sangat of the Guru. The Sangat came with love. They did the Darshan of the 2 Payaras with love. Bhai Daya Singh ji was known as the same form as Guru ji. The Sangat did Bhai Daya Singh ji’s Darshan and presented their Dasvands and more money for the expenses of the travels. The Singhs spent the night there in joy. They ate and slept. They awoke in the morning and bathed. They left in the morning. The Delhi Sangat took the Singhs to the next city. The Singhs travelled along the way. They soon reached Agra and met the Sangat there. The Sangat did the Pooja and Darshan of the Singhs as they would have done of Guru ji. The Singhs then travelled to Chambal River and crossed it. They then went to Gwalior and then Narvar and Kalay Bagh. They went to Saroj and then Ujjain. They met the Sangat there. That was the Malva Desh (where Raja Vikramajit once ruled). The Singhs travelled on to the Narbada River and stayed at the Sher Garh. They then went to Burhanpur and met the Sangat. Many great Sikhs lived there. They then came to Aurangabad and then Ahmedabad. They stayed in the Dhamani Mahalla without any problems. They rested the night there. They stayed there a few days and found out where the Shah’s camp was. They found out and headed towards the Shah’s camp. They tried to look for a Sikh. They asked around to find out where a Sikh was. Bhai Jetha Singh ji lived there. The Singhs found out and called Bhai Jetha Singh ji. When Bhai Jetha Singh ji found out that the Jathedaar of the Panj Payaaray and Payaaray Bhai Dharam Singh ji had come to his city, he was ecstatic. He came to meet the Singhs right away. He set up their stay in his own home. He took them with love. He served them in many ways. He made great food for them. Bhai Daya Singh ji and Bhai Dharam Singh ji asked Bhai Jetha Singh ji of the Shah’s ways. Bhai Jetha Singh ji said: “to meet the Shah is very difficult. How can we do this? The Guru’s task has come to my home but how can it be done?” Bhai Daya Singh ji saw the worry on Bhai Jetha Singh ji’s face and said: “don’t worry about anything. Gather the Sangat and tell them the command. We will get together and figure out a way. Somebody will know something. This is Guru ji’s task. He will do it himself without any obstacles.” Bhai Jetha Singh ji heard this and informed the Sangat. He told all of the Sangat to gather. Vanjaras, Shiklighars and other Sikhs gathered who followed the Guru. They all gathered in the morning. Panchamrit was prepared. The Sikhs all gathered. The Degh was placed in the middle. Everyone bowed to Bhai Daya Singh ji. Bhai Daya Singh ji then said the Hukam out loud: “this is the task of Sri Prabhoo ji. Do it with joy.” The Gurmukh Sikhs obeyed. There were some Manmukhs who doubted. They didn’t know the greatness of the Guru. The Sikhs all brainstormed to figure out a way but couldn’t find a solution. The Sikhs went to their resources and contacts with government employees and tried to figure out a way.
Satguru ji was in Deena. It became known in the world. The fool, Wajeed Khan, was really worried. He thought: “he has not died. We couldn’t catch him. He is alive and is close by. He waged great battles and caused a lot of painful damage. The Emperor has tried many efforts but nothing worked. All of the Turks have been thrown into the ocean of sorrows. He destroyed our rule of law and caused our women to cry in sorrow. We should stay quiet for some time and give him the hope that he is safe. We should attack him with a surprise and kill him or capture him.” He began to gather his army. He said to his Jathedaars: “stay ready all the time. I will tell you where and when to attack. We can attack at anytime. Don’t let anyone go on leave. Don’t let them go anywhere. Keep everything ready for war. Keep your bullets and gunpowder ready. Give it to the men. We will be going far. Feed the horses.” Wajeed Khan made preparations.
Satguru ji, the Omniscient One, knew what was going on and started thinking about war: “if there was a fort, we could use it to wage a great battle. We can fight a big war and kill all of the Turks. I came here in Deena to live. They served me well. I don’t want this city to be looted. The Brars are employed with me. There are many of them. There camps are growing.” Guru ji wanted to save his servants and was thinking of leaving Deena. He thought to himself: “If I stay here, the battle will happen here. The subjects and people will be killed here. The enemy will give them pain. They are all just farmers.” Bhai Param Singh ji and Bhai Dharam Singh ji from the family of Bhai Roopa ji; other Singhs (Dhaan Singh Brar) hundreds of other beloved Sikhs; Chaudhary Lakhmeer and Shameer, Takhat Mal; Guru ji called all of them to him and said: “I wish to go from here to see the next land. I stayed in your village and home with peace and joy. Now I will fight the Turks that are my enemy. Weapons will swing. People will kill or be killed. There will be a great battle. You will face problems from the Turks. I don’t want there to be any damage to your land. For this reason, I have decided to go on ahead. If I find a fort, I will fight from there or else I will fight on the open field.” The Sikhs folded their hands and said: “we are under your command Prabhoo ji! We will stay with you and fight or be killed!” Satguru ji heard this and praised them: “there will be Singhs in your family. They will fight in battles. Stay in your homes with peace now. This place will stay steady. If someone comes to attack you, they will lose their honour and reputation. The people of this village will fight and defeat the enemy. This place will be called “Lohgarh,” where I stayed.” Guru ji was compassionate and blessed everyone: “I will be with you all in the Parlok. I will protect you from pain.” Prabhoo ji made preparations and saddled his horse. His army made preparations to leave. The mounted and foot soldiers fastened their weapons and set off behind Guru ji. Guru ji took the Brars with him. He gave everyone in Deena leave and blessed them all. The people of Deena travelled far to see Guru ji off. They were upset that he was leaving them. Guru ji then gave the people who travelled to see him off, leave; and told them to go back home. The Sikhs made Gurmat live in their hearts and became deserving of Mukti.
I have written the Katha of the Dasam Guru Paatshaah. The Six Ruts are now complete, stated with great words. Whoever reads or listens to this Katha with love, their obstacles will be destroyed in this Lok and in the Parlok. They will receive Mukti. In the jungle of the mind, the lions of sin wander. Oh Santokh Singh, this Katha will give those people bliss.
Thus ends the 6th Rut.
