Rut 5.21 – 5.25

5-21 Collecting the Gold

The hold of the Masands on the Sangat was broken.  The Masands were taking money from the Sangat and using it for their personal use.  The Sangat from far away lands, Sikhi spread very far.  They had a lot of faith and devotion.  They sent the Dasvand straight to Guru ji.  The Sangat would bring the money themselves.  They brought unique gifts and a lot of money, jewellery and expensive clothes.  Rolls of Zarri Badla was brought which had real gold wires in the cloth.  They brought silks of different colours.  Mashroo (cotton silk) rolls were brought.  Pashmina was brought from Kashmir.  Kheen Khaab was brought.  Expensive fine cloths were brought from countries that were known for it.  The Sikhs brought all this with love.  They did Pooja of Guru ji with proper traditions.  They gave Guru ji the gifts and were happy.  They brought weapons and horses as well.  The Sangat of different districts gathered and came in groups.  A lot of Karah Prashaad would be made.  The people would set up their own camps while in Anandpur.  The Sikhs met other Sikhs from other lands and were happy to see each other.  They met like brothers.  Although they spoke different languages: Asami, Bihaari, Pashto and Bengali, they loved each other.  The young men took Amrit and became Singhs.  They wore shields and held spears.  A lot of pooja would happen in Anandpur.  There were always crowds in Anandpur.  Poets read their poetry and artists showed their art.  Musicians played their instruments.

One day, the Singhs close to Guru ji, who were really wise, they sat amongst themselves and had discussions.  They said: “the Darshan of Satguru ji is so pleasurable.  Whoever sees him gets attracted to him.  It would be good to make a room of gold.  There should be diamonds and precious gems in the golden walls.  There should be strands of pearls on the door.  We should call the expert craftsmen to make this.  Sri Satguru ji wears expensive clothes.  He should wear the same colour.  The diamonds and pearls should make the room shine.  Guru ji should wear all of the jewellery.  It would be great if he sat on the throne.  He should have a Kalgi and a Jigha.  He should have a sword with a golden hilt.  His quiver should have strands of pearls on it.  He should wear a pearl necklace.  He should hold a nice bow.  It would look great if the room was golden as well.  We would do his Darshan like this everyday.  The radiance of his court would grow even more.  We would never get tired of looking at this.”  The Singhs discussed all this.  They had love for Guru ji in their hearts.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, the master of the universe, the omniscient one; he knew what the Singhs were thinking about.  To complete the devotion of his servants, he called the scribes to him.  Guru ji said to them: “my Sangat is flourishing.  Write Hukamnamas to all the lands and tell them to bring gold for the Guru’s home’s tasks.  Guru ji is making a golden home.  Send gold.”  The scribes wrote the Hukamnamas and sent them to different lands: “bring gold that is 21 Rajitpuns per Tola.  Bring the highest and purest quality.  If you don’t have gold, then buy it and bring it.  Weigh it and send it.”  The Hukamnamas were sent.  The Sikhs read it and were happy.  They bought gold and brought it to Guru ji.  The rich Sikhs brought the best quality.  Guru ji told the servants to keep an account of how much came.  Guru ji said: “write a Hukamnama to Jagannath: The Purshotam should send 100 Tollas.”

The Mevra took the Hukamnama to Jagannath and gave the it to the Pandits.  The Pandits read this and were amazed.  They wondered who was writing to the Bhagavan.  They said: “who is commanding the Lord?  We don’t know this person.  Who is this person asking for gold from the Lord?”  The Mevra slept the night.  He had delivered the letter and had faith in Guru ji.  He knew something was going to happen that was important.  It was about 2,000 km away.  He knew the Purshottam will do something.  His job to give the Hukamnama was done.

The Raja of Odissa was very religious.  He knew the greatness of the Thakur within Jagannath Temple.  At night, while he was sitting alone and everyone else was asleep, the Jagannath spoke to him: “Raja, I have come to the world.  I have taken an Avatar.  I am the Satguru in the body.  I came to protect the Hindu traditions.  I have come to do many tasks.  I have come to take the Delhi throne from the Turks.  I have come to pull their roots.  My form is the Guru in Anandpur.  The Hukam is to send gold to Anandpur.  Many kings have sent him gold.  This Hukamnama is my command.  Don’t doubt this.  Send 100 Tolas of gold to the Sikh that has come.  Send good quality gold.  The Sikh is in Jagannath.  Do this in the morning.  Call for the Sikh and treat him with respect.  Place the gold in front of him with respect.  Guru Gobind Singh ji’s command cannot be ignored.”  The Raja spent the night in peace.

In the morning, the Raja called for the Sikh.  He gathered 100 Tolas of gold of the highest quality.  He checked it properly.  He had it weighed and gave it to the Sikh.  The Sikh came back to Anandpur and told Guru ji what had happened.  Guru ji heard the whole story and laughed.  He praised the Parmeshwar: “Parmeshwar is always with me!”  The greatness of both worlds was placed on to the head of Guru Gobind Singh ji.  The Hukamnamas were sent to other lands as well.  The Sikhs obeyed and sent gold with joy.  They sent the gold to Anandpur and had their wishes fulfilled.  Their sins were washed away.

In Gujarat, Punjab, there was a Peer named Meean Dhola.  He was a patient and holy Peer.  He was really old.  He had all of the Siddhis.  When the Hukamnama came to Gujrat, he heard it from the Sikhs of the area.  He became upset that Guru ji did not send a command for him: “why did he forget me?  I am a Sikh from Guru Hargobind ji’s time.  I am a Sikh by mind, body and wealth.  I only have faith in the Guru.  I don’t follow anyone else.”  He was upset but he still collected 100 Tolas of gold.  He sent it to Guru ji and wrote a letter: “you forgot me.  Did you not think of me?  I do Simran, day and night.  I am your servant.  Please don’t forget me for Seva.  I am the servant of your servants.”  Guru ji accepted the gold and read his letter.  He saw his love and gave him many blessings.  He said: “Daula Shah is the beloved of “Maula” (Allah).  He always does good.  He is generous.  He protects the poor.  He thinks of everyone.  He has compassion towards the poor.  He is great but stays humble.  He has bliss in his heart.  He will be going to Sach Khand.”  Guru ji praised the Peer and the Raja of Odissa.  He gave glory to his servants.  Wherever the Hukamnama was sent, gold was sent.  One whole treasury was filled with gold.  It couldn’t be counted.  This was the drama of Maya.  He made his Sangat pure by getting them to give the Maya.  When the gold was kept, Guru ji forgot about it.  The treasurer kept the log.  He didn’t do anything with it.  Guru ji didn’t make the house of gold.  Lakshmi was collected in great amounts and was not given a task by Guru ji.  The Satguru’s ways are unique.  Nobody knows his ways.  Guru Har Rai ji uttered the words: “the ship of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji has broken.  It will be fixed in the 10th form.”  Guru Gobind Singh ji had made the Khalsa Panth and fixed the ship of Guru Nanak Dev ji.  It was broken into many sects: Dheermalis, Minas and others.  Many came back to the Khalsa, seeing its greatness.  In this way, Satguru ji completed many tasks.  He saved his servants from the greatest troubles.  The Gurmat Sikhi was spread.  Kavi Santokh Singh ji says: “I am a sacrifice unto Guru Gobind Singh ji.  His words have great and hidden meanings.  The Sadhoos that understood his words, received many Siddhis, like gold has no impurities.”

5-22 The Burning of the Cloth Rolls and The Treasure in the Sutlej

Some Sikhs came after a year and some came after 6 months to Anandpur.  They would come and present their gifts.  Their wishes were fulfilled.  Guru ji’s praises grew by the day.  A lot of wealth was collected.  It couldn’t all be counted.  One day, the compassionate Guru was sitting on his throne.  His ways were unique.  He was going to do a unique thing.  He told the servants: “take the Toshakhana (expensive items in the treasury) out.  Put it all in front of me.  Don’t wait.  Take all the help and take everything out.”  The servants heard the command and got to work.  They opened the doors of the treasury and took out the silk and Zarri rolls out.  The Kheen Khaab with zarri bouquets on them, were taken out.  Many Sikhs worked to take the cloths out.  The cloths were very expensive.  Guru ji was sitting in an open field.  The rolls and clothes were piled up in front of him.  There were many types of cloths there.  There were thousands of rolls which came from around the world.  It was all taken out of the treasuries.  The pile was about 60 feet high.  The Sikhs showed Guru ji as they placed it in front of him.  There were many types of beautiful cloths.  Some cloths had gold and silver wires in them.  They were pleasant to look at.  The cloths were radiant.  Wise and skilled weavers made these cloths.  Guru ji saw them all as he was shown.  The gifts that were sent by the Sikhs of Jonpur: perfumes and cloths; they were placed in front of Guru ji.  When everything was piled up, Satguru ji said to the servants: “spill the perfumes onto the cloths.  All of the expensive cloths, pour all of the perfumes on them.”  The servants obeyed.  They poured the perfumes onto the cloths.  They were very confused.  They were surprised at what Guru ji was doing.  Guru ji gave the order to burn all of the cloths and clothes.  The fire was brought from the Langar and the piles of cloths were lit on fire.  The flames roared upwards.  The cloths and perfumes were worth millions.

As the cloths all burned to ash, gold and silver remained.  The gold and silver were separated into different piles.  They were all tied together.  The servants collected the gold and silver.  Guru ji got up but did not tell anyone to put the precious metals back.  Everyone was surprised to see this task.  Guru ji was in joy.  He went home to eat.  After eating he came out of the home and rode his horse to the shores of the Sutlej.  He commanded his servants: “go and get my bed and lay it into the water where the water is one hand deep.”  The bed was laid in the river.  Guru ji sat on his bed.  He was radiant.  Many Sikhs were put to work by his order: “dig soil from the river.  Dig a huge hole.”  The Sikhs brought shovels and dug soil from the river.  Guru ji then said: “take all of the gold and silver.  Bring it all here.”  Thousands of Sikhs brought the gold.  The gold that was collected for making the golden home, along with the gold already in the treasury was brought.  The Sikhs carried them on their heads.  Guru ji was sitting on the bed, in the middle of the river.  Guru ji had the gold put into the hole in the river.  It was about 3 km from the home of Guru ji.  There were many lines, up to the home; down to the river.  Many coins and gold bars were thrown into the river.  The gold and silver were brought.  Guru ji then said: “open the Jawaharkhana (jewellery vault) and bring the gems.”  The diamonds, pearls and other gems were brought and thrown into the river.  After this, the golden pots and pans were brought.  Everything was thrown into the river.  The Sikhs would throw them into the water and couldn’t see it after that, as the water engulfed them.  All of the Sikhs obeyed and did what Guru ji ordered.  The coins were all thrown there.  Guru ji then had the Silakhana (treasury of the weapons) opened.  The swords with golden hilts and diamonds were brought.  Khandas with golden hilts were brought.  They had diamonds and pearls in them.  Many quivers made of ivory and other materials were brought.  The bows and arrows that were expensive were brought and thrown into the river.

One Sikh took a bow string from one of the bows and hid it.  He tied it around his waist and wrapped a kumerkassa on top.  He did it really fast.  When the bows were all thrown, the omniscient Guru knew what happened.  When the Sikh came with the bow, Guru ji said: “what did you tie to your waist?”  The Sikh got scared and folded his hands.  He said: “listen Prabhoo, I thought that my bowstring has gone old.  It will break if I use it again.  I wanted to use this string for my bow.  The Panth has to fight often.  The enemy are all around us.”  The gem of the Sodhis said: “these are all the gifts of Pooja.  This is like poison to a Sikh.  This will destroy the chivalry within the Singhs.  It will destroy the Singhs in both worlds.  It will destroy the good karma.  It pulls the Japp and Tapp like a straw sucking water.  Be wise about this.  There are many vices in these gifts.”  The Sikh began to shiver with fear.  He fell to Guru ji’s feet and asked for forgiveness.  He said: “I will never do this again.  I am in your shelter.  Forgive my mistake.  You are the “Gareeb Nivaaj.”  You make people big from small.”  Guru ji said: “then throw the string here.  Bring everything and throw it here.  Come quick before night falls.”  The treasurer was commanded not to keep anything: “don’t keep even a pin.  Give everything to the Singhs.  Throw everything here.  Nobody should be standing.”  The whole treasure was thrown into the hole.  The treasury was really big.  Thousands of Sikhs were bringing the wealth.  There were unique things from around the world.  The Sikhs ran and brought everything.  The swords with golden hilts were brought.  They had precious gems in them that shined.  They were all thrown into the river.  Nobody dared disobey.  The Sikhs couldn’t keep what Guru ji wanted to reject.  The thousands of Sikhs made many rounds the whole day.  Some came 5 times and some came 10 times.  They ran by the Guru’s command.  They did not wait.  They did this till evening.  The big hole was filled to the top.  When all of the wealth was thrown, Guru ji said: “everything is here now.  Let’s go and rest.  Sleep now.”  Guru ji got up from his bed.  The Singhs came with him.  Guru ji went home and rested.  The Sikhs rested in their homes.

As Guru ji did this task, the Pahari Rajas found out about this.  The spies wrote to the Rajas: “he buried everything in the river.”  The foolish Bheem Chand got greedy.  In the night he and the other Pahari Rajas sent their men.  The spy told them where the treasure was.  Their soldiers surrounded the area.  They were ready to fight if needed.  They had thousands of soldiers there, as guards.  Thousands other started to dig into the river.  The fools didn’t know Guru ji’s way.  They tried looking all night but found nothing.  They were in the middle of the river.  The spy said: “the Guru sat here all day long.  The wealth was put right in front of him.  I saw this.”  The soldiers lit torches and looked all night.  They used shovels to dig but found nothing.  They went back in the morning.  They thought they were deceived.

The Sikhs came the next day and noticed many holes in the river.  They saw thousands of footsteps.  They could see that someone was looking for the treasure.  The Sikhs went to Guru ji and said: “Maharaj, looks like someone was digging in the Sutlej.  We saw many footsteps.  We saw many potholes.”  Guru ji heard this and said: “the Paharis are unwise.  They don’t know the ways of the Guru.  The Maya has been given to the Sutlej.  It is kept for the Khalsa.  When the 96 Krori Khalsa comes, the treasure will be revealed to them and the Khalsa will make Langar.  It has been deposited into the Sutlej.  Sutlej will give it only to the Khalsa.  It will keep the treasure like this for a long time.  My Panth will grow and take the kingdom of the world.  A great Singh will be born in the Panth.  He will be a radiant and strong warrior.  He will kill the sinners.  He will be the general.  I have kept this treasure for him.  He will know where the treasure is.  He will ask for it from the river.  He will take what is his.  The time will come for him.  Nobody else will get the treasure.  They can try as hard as they want.”  All of the wealth that was thrown into the river, the treasurers tried to keep an account of it.  They counted 90,000,000 Rajitpuns.  They couldn’t count the clothes, gold, diamonds or other stuff.  The Lakshmi stays in the Guru’s home.  She is the servant of the Guru.  Who can quantify her?  This was Guru ji’s unique ways.  “I, Kavi Santokh Singh, write this for everyone to read and listen to this.  The Guru’s has no beginning or end.  The Guru is Akaal Purakh.  Nobody can quantify the Guru.”

5-23 A Fakir Brings a Fist-Full of Flowers

One day, a lot of Sangat came to Anandpur.  There were thousands who came.  They waited for many days to meet Guru Gobind Singh ji.  They waited for a Divaan to meet him.  They sat there for many days.  The Mevra said to Satguru ji: “the Sangat wishes to see you.  They have come from many lands.  They have been waiting for many days to see you.”  Kalgidhar ji said: “make preparations for a Divaan in the morning.  I will sit in the Divaan and see them.  Send news to everyone that a big Divaan will take place in the morning.  I will see everyone there.”  Guru ji then went to sleep at night.

The servants got up in the morning and made preparations.  They laid down colourful rugs.  A golden bed was laid out for Guru ji to sit on.  Colourful sheets were set on the bed.  The sheets were tied with silk ropes that had tassels at the ends.  Guru ji wore a sword with a golden hilt.  He tied his quiver and held his bow.  He was like a lion.  He came to the Divaan after dressing up.  He sat on his throne.  The Singhs came to the Divaan with their weapons fastened.  Everyone heard of Guru ji coming and headed to the Divaan.  They were happy to see Guru ji.  They bowed and presented their gifts.  Many types of gifts came.  They came from every direction.  There was a great crowd.  It was summer.  People were sweating.  The Sikhs had their Ardaas done.  Satguru ji fulfilled their wishes.  Thousands of people were standing all around.  A big fan was being waived made of Zarri.  Two Chaurs were being waived over Guru ji’s head.  Guru ji wore a beautiful Kalgi.  He was stealing the hearts of his Sikhs.  He was giving joy to all his Sikhs.  The Sikhs had their wishes fulfilled.

At that time, a Fakir from the Shah Mandhari division came.  He was from Kanauj.  He made his way through the crowd with speed.  He had white flowers in his hand.  Both hands had flowers.  He came in front of Guru Gobind Singh ji, jumping over everyone and cutting through the crowd.  He was sweating a lot.  The sweat could be seen on his body.  He wasn’t wearing much clothes.  He cut through a great crowd to come.  He had roses and jasmine flowers in his hands.  He placed the flowers in front of Guru ji and bowed.  He got up.  Guru ji saw the Fakir and said: “oh Sahib, oh Sai-valay (one of the Sai-Allah), why did you give so much trouble to your body?  You brought flowers with such effort.  To see a saint like you is great offering for me.  Your Darshan is a great gift for me.  Once you know the One, there is no difference, anywhere.  Whoever sees two, they are in doubt.”  The Mandhari Fakir was filled with bliss hearing this.  He spoke with wisdom: “the empty hand is a sign of a black soul.  The one who earns is worry-free.  The one who has no Guru or Peer, his voice is empty.  His speech his empty in the world.  Their mouths have no taste.  They leave empty from this world.”  Guru ji heard this and said: “the soul that is without bonds, it has met Khuddah.  The men of Sai do not cheat.  The man of Khuddah is without desires and greed.  He sees Khuddah and is not bound to rules.  The eye of Khuddah is on such a person.  Their words have weight in the whole world.  They can bless the whole world.  The one with Bandagi is accepted in the court of Khuddah.”  The Fakir heard this and was happy.  He spoke to Prabhoo with joy: “I met you and it was the same as going to Mecca.  This day is blessed as I have seen Khuddah with my own eyes today.  I have seen you, the worry-free.  You are the only true Peer in this world.  You are the light of Khuddah.  I am your servant.  I have come to take in the dust of your feet.  You are Khuddah who is playing in the colours of the world.  You can be seen everywhere in the world.  I went to the river one day to bathe and cool down.  I took a dip and then I saw a man in the water.  He took me deep into the water.  I thought I was dreaming.  When I went deep, I saw a woman who had a lot of fish and life forms around her.  She took me inside a palace.  She respected me and treated me well.  She did my Pooja and gave me gifts.  I saw another man there who had many arms and heads.  He had snakes around his arms.  He spoke to me but I didn’t understand anything.  I said: “I don’t know you.  Who are you and why did you call me here?”  The man with the 100 arms gave me a message: “the Tenth Guru is the complete and omnipotent Guru.  Go to him and give him my message: 95,500,000 Rajitpuns that you have sent to me in this Avatar, I have deposited it.  My wife has 107,000,000 Rajitpuns of yours.  The other wife of mine has it from your other life.  What do you want me to do with this?  We have 19 Crore of your money.  You can have it today or take land for it.  You can take whichever land you wish.  Tell me where you want it?”  Guru ji heard this and laughed.  Prabhoo ji said: “it’s all good.  I have understood the message.  It’s all good.  I know of all the money I gave while I was Lok Paul.”  The Fakir became humble and said: “please tell me what this is.  I don’t understand it.  You are still keeping it a secret.  I thought I was dreaming.  My wisdom did not work there.  Please be compassionate and tell me.  What was this about?”  Satguru ji heard this and said: “the man was the Samundar (the Ocean) and the woman was Satudruv (Sutlej).  The other woman was Godavari.  I know the accounts.  I kept my treasure from my last birth as well.  I kept the treasure here in this birth as well.  I have kept it for my Sikh children.  When they will need it, they will be able to get it.  When the Panth grows and becomes deserving of ruling; they will be warriors and kill the sinners to establish the rule of Dharma; one Sikh will be a great warrior and take the money.  He will come with his mother and take the money.  The account is big.  It was deposited twice so that’s why I said “it’s all good” twice.  I understood everything.  I will take it with interest.  This is true what you saw.  It wasn’t a dream.  I got the message.”  The Fakir heard this and bowed to Guru ji’s feet.  He then asked: “what advantage was there for me in this?  I got your Darshan but there should be more profit.”  Guru ji smiled and said: “you will come back as a Singh.  Your Tapasya will be rewarded.  You will rule as well.  You will rule on earth as well.  You will be rewarded by your Karma.”  The Fakir accepted the boon and said: “Prabhoo ji, save me from the earth.  I don’t wish to rule.  Don’t put me into the illness of the kingdom.  I don’t wish to be born again.  Immerse me with the Truth.  I don’t wish to come back.”  Satguru ji, the master, said: “Sai ji!  The Prabhoo weighs accurately.  This is the way it is to be.  It can’t be erased.  Everything is under the command.  Nothing is outside of the command.  The Maya Shakti is below; the light of Parmeshwar is above.  In the middle is the Jeev.  I have seen the decision of the Akaal Purakh, everyone is enchanted by it.  The one who connects with the Guru will be saved.”  The Fakir was really happy to hear this.  He travelled into the word where he felt like.  He came as he wished to see the Guru.

5-24 Question and Answers with the Kavis

Satguru ji slept after eating dinner.  He woke up at Amritvela and did his morning cleansing routines.  He wore is clothes and weapons.  He wore his beautiful jewellery and headed to his court.  There was a golden throne laid out for him.  The throne had gems in the legs.  It was adorned with muslin sheets.  It was tied with silk ropes and Zarri borders.  Guru ji came to sit on his throne.  The Khalsa came ready to the court.  They bowed and sat down.  The Divaan was in session.  The Chobdhaars held golden maces in their hands, standing on either side of Guru ji.  Guru ji gave out a command: “the wise Kavis and Pandits, call them all.  Go to their homes and camps to call them.”  The scholars and the Kavis were all called.

The Kavis that came: the son of Keshodas, Kuvresh- he wrote the Drone Parab in the vernacular language from Mahabharat (The 18 Parabs of Mahabharat were written by many.  60,000 Rajitpuns were given to each Kavi.); Guniya, Sukhiya, Bhullub, and Dhyaan Singh came.  Chandan, Dhanna Singh, Ani Rai, Sudhama, Heer, Amrit Rai, Keshav Rai, Senapati (who wrote Sri Guru Sobha of Guru Gobind Singh ji where Bachittar Natak ends) and many others came as well.  They bowed to the leader of the Sodhis.  They were seated with respect in the court.  Guru ji respected artists and scholars a lot.  He gave them a lot of money that made them rich.  Guru ji said: “all of you are very wise.  You are all well-read.  I want you to have some discussions.  I will place some questions in front of you: tell me, where do dreams come from?  Why are there dark marks on the moon?  When people lay down, why do they take their Pugri off and put it on their knees?  Why do people spit after urinating?  When you make rotis, why is one roll taken off from the kneaded dough first but cooked last?  Why do people speak without being asked to?  Why do warriors pull their bowstring without an arrow?  Why should one not touch tobacco?  Why does Katha not happen on the Dwadashi?”  Guru ji placed these questions forth.

Kavi Kuvresh ji first spoke: “when one eats, it becomes Ras in the belly first.  It goes into the nerves.  It presses onto the consciousness and makes you tired.  A person feels really sleepy after.  This digests the food.  The Jeev then resides in the “Hitha Nari,” which is smaller than a piece of hair.  One sees dreams which are thoughts from many births.  Every Jeev dreams.  True and false cannot be determined then.  This is all I know.  You are omnipotent.  You can tell us better.”

Bhullub spoke next: “the moon sinned.  Inder conspired with Chandra (moon) to come up early and fool Gautham it was almost morning.  Inder changed his form to look like Gautham to be with Ahilya, the wife of Rishi Gautham.  Gautham cursed Indra.  He also cursed Chandra to be stained and to wax and wane.  The Rishi had awakened ahead of time to bathe.  The moon was punished for helping his lustful friend.  Janu Rishi drank Ganga that came from the dreadlocks of Shiva.  She came out of Janu’s knee.  It is then considered pure.  When a friend comes, he touches another’s knees as a sign of respect.  They touch their head with the knee.”

Kavi Sukhiya ji said: “spitting dispels any spells or magic if you are impure.  When one urinates, they became impure.  By spitting, one becomes pure again.”

Kavi Gurdas ji spoke: “I am the servant of your feet, Satguru.  In your sanctuary, one’s ego is destroyed.  The ones who don’t have your grace, they are foolish and egotistical.  They talk without being asked to.”

Kavi Senapati ji said: “the first roll of dough is taken for prosperity.  It is for the Lord and is given to a holy person afterwards.  Just as Ganesh is worshipped first, the first roll is for him.”

Kavi Sukha Singh ji said: “the bowstring is shaken as a challenge to the enemy.  It is a challenge to their strength and skill.”

Kavi Kalooa ji: “when the Turks ruled the earth, they used tobacco to destroy the power of the Jap Mantras.  The Mantras of the Hindus lost their powers by it.  The sins of the earth gathered and went to Hari.  They said: “in Kaliyuga, your Katha is poison for us.  It destroys us.”  Hari then said: “listening to my Katha on the Dwadashi (12th) will bear no fruits.  You will be saved on that day.”  The one who Guru Nanak Dev ji blesses; their sins are all washed away.  Vidhur was born to a maid.  Hari went to his home to eat food.  The poor Brahmin Sudhama was blessed.  Ajamal was saved by saying the name of his son, Narayan.  Kubja was blessed by Krishan straightening her back.  Bheelani was blessed by Ram Chander ji eating her fruits.”

Guru ji then spoke to Bhai Ram Koer ji: “boy, Gurbaksh Singh, why don’t you speak?  You have to tell my Singhs this Katha.  You should know.”  I then spoke: “my love is with your feet.  The instrument can’t do anything on its own.  You are the doer.  I am under your protection.  My wish is to stay focussed in your feet all the time.  You hold my life in your hand.  My knowledge is what you gave me.”  Listen Sahib Singh, when I said this, Guru ji laughed.  I folded my hands and said: “you should give the answers to everyone.  The Sangat is yours.  They want to hear you.”  The Prabhoo became compassionate and said: “the Jeev that is born, lives in doubt.  It has taken infinite births.  When the Jeev sleeps, it is alone and focussed in itself.  It remembers its old nature.  It can experience the future as well.  The dream is only its collections of thoughts.  Brihaspati’s wife was Tara.  Chandra was his student.  Chandra had an affair with his Guru’s wife and had a son, named Bhud with Tara.  Chandra was stained by this sin.  To have an affair with another’s wife is a great sin.  The world sees his sin everyday.  Chandra attempted to redeem himself by doing Bhagti and having Krishan ji born to his descendants.  Ram and Lakshman went hunting one day and got separated in the evening.  They got tired and laid under a tree.  To pass the time, they tied their Pugris on their knees to make a fake man.  They spoke to their knees about the Bhagwat Katha.  In the morning they met and told each other what they did.  Ram Chander ji then said: “if one ties a Pugri to their knee and speaks to it like a friend, they will be without pain of being alone.  Wherever there are Bhoots, they are attracted to impurity.  Spitting makes us pure again.  One should wash themselves along with their hands after urinating.  When sins weigh in on a person, they become unwise and speak where they are not supposed to.  This is not a good thing.  The first roll of the kneaded dough is for the Devatas and the Pittars.  It is made for holy people or the poor.  The religious person should eat the roti that was made last.  The skilled warriors remember the Parmatma for protection.  They ask Parmatma to stay on their right side.  The enemy is in front of them.  They call for the Devatas by pulling their bowstring.  It is also a challenge to the enemy with anger.  The Badshah of Ajmer had a daughter.  She took her father’s permission to find a husband.  She tried to find one but she didn’t like any.  She saw a Tapasvi and wanted a husband with radiance.  The Tapasvi was a Brahmin who had done a lot of Tapp.  He knew the 4 Vedas, 6 Shastras and Puranas like a gooseberry on the palm.  He ate husks to survive.  He ate less.  When the farmers harvested the crops, he collected the husks for food.  He didn’t beg for food.  He only did Tapp.  He knew the 6 Vedangas.  The princess wanted to marry him.  She made an effort and married the Tapasvi.  The Tapasvi was upset as he did not want to mate with her.  He did not want to break his Dharama.  He thought: “if I run away, they will bring me back.”  One day, they locked him up in a room with his wife.  He had to stay in the room.  He was helpless.  He started to recite the Vedas.  The Mantras created an iron cage for him.  He slept in the middle.  The princess tried to go to him but she couldn’t get passed the iron cage.  In the morning, the door opened.  The second night, he was kept in the home.  The Pandit recited the Mantras again and slept.  In the morning he came out.  This happened for many nights.  The princess told everyone.  The father heard this.  He asked his Qazis for a solution.  The Qazis said: “this is easy.  Give him tobacco.  This destroys the power of all the Hindu Mantras.  Even if they touch it, their Devatas and Pittars leave them.”  In the morning, the son-in-law was called to court.  He was respected a lot.  They spoke to him sweetly.  They gave him a golden huqqa.  They put sweet Gurr in it, in front of him.  The bribed another Pandit to put the Gurr in it.  They had him put it in front of the Tapasvi.  The Tapasvi said: “I won’t smoke this.  I don’t know if this is good or bad.  I don’t want to touch this.”  The clever Qazis spoke to convince him: “look at everyone else.  We all smoke.  It is delicious.  What’s wrong with this?  It is natural.  It is made of gold.  We put Gurr in it.  Pandit ji brought it.  We didn’t touch it.”  The Tapasvi was convinced and took a smoke from the Huqqa.  That same night, when the Pandit recited the Mantra, he went to sleep but there was no iron cage.  The princess came and slept with him.  They finally mated.  There is a big sin in using Tobacco.”  Satguru ji continued: “the Hindu Mantras are destroyed along with good Karma.  Tobacco is Kaliyuga’s guard.  It destroys purity.  It makes one impure.”  Guru ji said this in the Kavi Darbar.

5-25 Question and Answers/ Kaliyuga

Guru ji answered other questions as well.  Hearing Guru ji, everyone understood everything.  Guru ji said: “tobacco was made from the blood of the cow.  Jamdaghani had the Kamdhenu cow.  Sahisarbaahu shot an arrow into the cow.  The blood that came out of the cow, tobacco was born from it according to Vedic traditions.  Sahisarbaahu then killed Jamdaghani.  Jamdaghani cursed tobacco while he was dying: “anyone who uses tobacco, their good karma will be destroyed.  All of the sins live inside tobacco.  If a Brahmin uses tobacco, listening to the Katha of such a Brahmin will be sinful.  Don’t worship such a Brahmin that uses tobacco.”

If a person studies on a holiday, or listens to Hari Katha on a holiday, that person will become irritated and fight with others.  One should take a break.  Dwadashi was kept as a holiday for this reason.  They may become poor and their expected age may also decrease.  This irritation will become the cause of many problems.

Don’t be with a woman on her menstruation period or a prostitute.  This will bring diseases.  Being with a woman who you are not married to, or being with a woman born within your family; will bring about illnesses.

A person who is without a Guru is as impure as the water used for cleaning yourself.  The dog, old water, eating the food of a Chandaal are all impure.

Listening to uneducated or impure people do the Katha of Vedas and Puranas will make you go to Hell or be born as an animal.

I have created the Panth for the purpose of establishing the Dharma.  Nobody should eat food from the Pooja donations.  The Granthis, Raagis, Taadhis and Kathavachaks can only eat from the money of Pooja if they don’t over-indulge.  If one becomes greedy, they become a pig in their next life.  One should do the Simran of the Guru’s feet, day and night.  One should work all day as per their family’s skills.  The Sikhs should stay away from sins, hearing my instructions.  Listen to the Sakhis/Katha of the Guru’s benevolent ways.  The one who has taken the Khanda Pahul, they should wear the Shasters.  They should work for a living, as per their Karma.  In the battlefield, fight for your master.  Don’t show your back in battle.  Fight with your weapons.  You will be praised in this world and in the next.  The one who leaves their courage and runs away, they will be talked bad about in this world.  When that person dies, they will have to suffer the fate of their sins.  Only the warrior will not have to suffer.  The coward will not be happy.  Become a Khalsa and leave your castes.  Stay within the Khalsa.  Have love for Gurbani.  Be drenched in that love.  This is my instruction.  Whoever listens to this and obeys, will be happy.  They will be in peace.  The Khalsa will grow in the world.  It will rule the world.  There will be other religions but they will lose the Dharma.  This is the way of Kaliyuga.  This will happen all over the world.  Only some will understand that this life is temporary.  This whole world is not going to last forever.  When the Karta Purakh gave me the command to go to the world, Kaliyuga folded his hands and said to me: “your rule will be during my time.  Keep me with your Panth.  I am your servant.  I have been given a place in Jagannath, in Dwarka (Ranchod), in Kanshi (Bishwanath), in Kurukshetra; in the same way, keep me in your Panth.  I will do all of your tasks.  Everyone knows that your kingdom will be during my time.”  I then told him: “what is your doing?  What can one do to be saved in your time?”  Kaliyuga says: “during my time, nothing is rewarded.  Only Simran will be rewarded.  Every other task will be useless.  I will make sons and fathers fight.  I will make spouses fight.  A person will stop thinking about their mother and sister.  He will think only of his wife in my time.  Fathers-in-law will have affairs with the daughters-in-law.  Mothers-in-law will have affairs with the sons-in law.  The queens will have affairs with the servants.  Brahmins will not be at peace.  The Shudras will get invitations and the Brahmins will be slandered.  No one will think of being generous.  They will use money for vices and desires.  The woman that will give birth to sons, she will be praised.  The one that gives birth to daughters, she will be considered bad.  Sons will advise fathers.  The daughter-in-law will call the mother-in-law a liar.  The Sikh will give wisdom to the Guru.  People will eat impure and dirty food.  People will not bathe, feeling it painful.  People will live to eat.  They will eat only delicious food.  They will not have love in their hearts but speak like they do.  They will say anything to get money.  Men will think of sex all day long.  They will wait to go home at night to be with their wives.  They wife will spend her time in beautifying herself, all day long.  The Brahmins will sell their education and Vedas.  The Kshatriyas will sell their lands.  The Vaishyas will sell their homes.  The Shudras will sell their sons.  Their will be no work.  People will wear clothes of saints.  They will have dreadlocks but go to brothels and liquor shops.  They will say: “the company of a saint is by good karma.”  They will go to Hell and take others as well.  They will not do anything good.  They will speak to people about Gyan but will shake their heads and shed tears.  Deception will feel good.  Prostitutes will have abortions and the wives will not be able to get pregnant.  People will do Seva of ghosts and do magic.  They will not do Simran of Sri Prabhoo ji.  Obstacles will come in the way of one who wishes to do good tasks.  Bad deeds will happen without wishing for them.  Friends will become enemies.  The enemies will do the work of friends.  Friends will look like enemies.  Enemies will look like friends.”  I said to Kaliyuga: “your way is surprising.  You sound like a circus director.  My Panth will only do Simran and Langars.  How can I let you into my Panth?  You should do your own thing.”  Bhai Ram Koer ji says: “Satguru ji said this and spoke to me: “listen, I said to Kaliyuga: “my Panth will be of Bhagats.  What will you do there?”  Kaliyuga said to me at Hemkunt: “listen to how I am.  I will tell you, my beginning.  Don’t tell anyone else, though.”  Listen Gurbaksh Singh, this “Kalinama” is hidden.  It is not written anywhere else.  I am giving it to you.”  Listen Sahib Singh Likhaari, Satguru ji gave it to me.  I will say it to you.  The Satguru said to me what Kaliyuga said to him: “in the beginning when Brahma created the creation, 4 of us brothers (Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwapur and Kaliyuga) were born.  We competed with each other and claimed ourselves to be the greatest.  Brahma gave us wisdom, seeing us as egotistical, he said to us: “my sons, if I separate the 4 of you, how will you give justice in your kingdoms?”  He then went quiet and looked at the crowned prince, Satyuga.  He stood up and so did the rest of us.  Satyuga was the eldest.  He was given the first kingdom and asked to explain his understanding of knowledge that was taught to him by Brahma.  Brahma said to him: “son, how will you cast your justice?  Tell me how will you rule?  What command will you give?”  Satyuga folded his hands and said: “I will give results by country.  The whole country will see the results of Karma.  I will record the sins and good deeds and give the whole country the rewards or punishments.  I will make the people do 4 things: Tapasya, Truth (speaking), Yagna and Pooja.  They will do this everyday.  The Brahmins will be Brahmgyaanis and will only think of the Brahm.  They will live in the jungle and be of the highest states.  Their houses and lives will be pure.  One deed will give 100 times the result.  A person will live for 100,000 years.  I will connect the people with Yog.  Their attention will be connected with Parmeshwar.  A person will think pure things.  The Kshatriyas will keep their Dharma of weapons to protect the people.  The Vaishyas will do the business by the Dharma.  They will not lie.  There will be 3 Vedas (Rig, Saam, Yujar) and the 3 castes will live by them.  This is what I will do.”  Tretayuga spoke next: “the Shasters will be used.  I will make everyone follow the traditions.  They will all do Seva.  I will make everyone collect money and do Yagna (Langar) with it.  I will stop people from doing sins.  The people will do good deeds to get to Heaven.  One deed will give 10 times the result.  They will live for 10,000 years.  They will be afraid from doing sins.  Dharma will be a tenth of my older brother’s rule (Satyuga).”  Dwapur spoke next: “Pooja will be in every home.  People will live 1,000 years; results will be 4 times; half will be sin and half will be good deeds.  Brahmins and Kshatriyas will have desires.  They will begin to do businesses.  They will think of their kings as the Guru.  Everyone will go to the Raja for justice.”  Brahma said to me: “you speak now.”  I folded my hands, bowed my head and said: “I bow to you.”  Brahma laughed and said: “you are my youngest son.  Tell my what is your desire.  I want to hear your view.”  I then spoke: “if one does sins or good deeds, only they will get the result.  Not the country, village or family.  A person will live 100 years.  They will get 2 times the results of their actions.  Whoever does the deed, will get the result.  People will have many children and desires.  They will learn by their wish.  They will learn what they want to learn.  The Shudras (frauds and greedy people) will rule.  The Shudras will read the Vedas and do Japp to deceive others.  The one who does Bhagti during my time will be saved.  Even if that person is a sinner, man or woman; Brahmin or Shudra; low life; elderly; young; Turk; mixed race; any ashram (Brahamachaari, Ghristi, Baanprast, Sanyasi); they can get Mukti by doing Simran.  I will punish those who are without the Naam.  I will rule Heaven and Hell.  The Earth will have two aims: pleasure and gathering of worldly goods.  If I can do all this, then I will go to Earth.  I will obey you and only you.  I won’t care about anyone.”  Satguru ji said to me: “listen Ram Koer, Brahma said to Kaliyuga: “listen son, go to Earth and rule with your Dharma.  I will cancel all other Mantras except for the Naam.  The Naam Mantra will be the supreme.  In the other Yugas: Tapasya, Yagna and Pooja will hold value.  In your time, only the Simran of Raam Naam with the breaths will make every task a success.  In your rule, the Devatas will not go to Earth.  I will stop them.  You can do as you wish.  You will only fear the Naam.  The Naam will roar.  Your rule will be strong.  Everything will happen as you wish.  A little effort will give a lot of results for Naam.  Remember 3 things: don’t seek the wealth of others, don’t seek the company of other women, only the Simran will save you.  Think of Hari and do Simran of Hari.  If you have faith in Hari, the wishes will be fulfilled.  If one remembers Hari at the time of death, they will be saved.  One should do Simran of Hari all the time.  They will be saved.  Seek the support of only Brahm and surrender your body and mind to Brahm.  Be afraid of the saints who do this.  This is my teaching to you.  If one lets go of all other supports and only seeks the love of the Naam, they will pierce the 3 Loks and go straight to Mukti.  They will get Sayujya Mukti (being one with Akaal Purakh).  A person should only stay with his own woman and speak the truth.  One should eat by the Dharma.  That person is a saint that stays chaste and speaks the truth.  The one that follows the Guru is the greatest, oh Kaliyuga.  This is the truth you need to accept.  Satyuga is my head.  Tretayuga is my arms.  Dwapur is my thighs.  You will serve my feet.  The Mukti of this has been written in the Vedas.  This is the truth.  You need to protect this.  Remember all this.  All of you brothers should rule and come back to me.  You will be one with me again.  Apply your rules in your Kalapas and come to me to rest.  This has been written in the Brahm Samhita.  There are 4 types of Jaaps: Paraa (belly button), Pesantee (lungs), Madhma (throat), and Vaikhri (mouth).  The 4 Vedas has established this.  Narayan is the Devata of Paraa; Nar is the Devata of Pesantee; Saravati is the Devi of Madhma; Vyaas is the support of Vaikhri.  Holding the breath in the belly button, the wave of bliss rises upwards.  This is the technique of Naam Bhajan.”  Sahib Singh, this was given to me by the Satguru.  Kaliyuga went quiet after speaking.  Guru Gobind Singh ji told me all this as I sat by him.  Hearing this will give joy.”
