Part 6 The Discussion with Kaliyuga/ Kaliyuga gets Worried
As the discussion with Kaliyuga and Satguru ji happened, many have written about this. I will tell you what happened as it was written. These proofs can be seen in Gurbani as the emotion can be seen. I will look towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji to tell you. Kaliyuga wanted to put the sinners in Narak (Hell) but Satguru ji wanted to take them out. Kaliyuga wanted to drown the sinners but Baba wanted to take them across the ocean of the world. Baba ji did not want to leave his habit (of saving all). He wanted to save the whole universe. Kaliyuga got upset that this was his rule: “Guru Nanak Dev ji has come and taken my court from me. I wanted to rule in my way but Guru Nanak Dev ji wants to run his Dharma in my time. We have no connection.” Kaliyuga was upset. How he spoke with Guru ji, if someone wishes to know this Saakhi, they can look in other Granths.
Part 7 The Dakhan Prasanga
Satguru ji headed towards the Dakhan (south). He wished to go there. To sing the Shabads and give wisdom to all, Bhai Mardana ji was taken along. Guru ji went to many Mandirs and Teeraths. The places had been taken over by force by the Turks. The places had been made impure. The Mandirs were destroyed and Maseets were made in their place. The noses of the idols were broken off. Baba ji saw this and uttered Shabads. I will write the Shabad here:
Khorasan Khasmana keea, Hindustan Draiyaa – the people of Khorasan were made owners and scared Hindustan.
Koi Mughal na hoa Andha, kinai na parcha laya – no Mughal was blinded. Nothing was done.
Kaliyuga left no Devi or Devata with power. The places were ruined, where Hindus did their Pooja.
Part 8 The Purab Prasang
Baba ji then wanted to go east. Where the truth was covered by corruption, Guru ji wanted to illuminate the truth there. Satguru ji first bathed in the Ganga at Haridwar. Ganga was made pure by his touch. He then went to Rishikesh and met the Rishis. He saw the people give water to the sun. Guru ji gave water the other way. The people questioned him about giving water the other way. He said: “I am sending water to my fields.” The people said: “your fields are far away.” Guru ji said: “my fields are closer than the sun.” Guru ji gave them wisdom about hypocrisy and told them to find the true meaning of practices. Guru ji then went to Valabi Desh. The people were all Jogis there. The 84 Sidhs lived there. It was called Gorakh Matta. Kaliyuga’s influence was strong there. The Sidhs used all of their strengths to defeat Guru ji but did not succeed. Baba ji made them chant the Satnam. Gorakh Matta then became Nanak Matta. Guru ji then went to Badrinath, Kedarnath and then to Odissa. He visited Jagannath and gave wisdom to the people by recited the Aarti Bani. Asafoetida can be smelled in the bag it is carried in but the true asafoetida could not be found nor its smell in that area. Sajjan Tagh was known as a great Bhagat. He had a Maseet and Mandir made. He would pretend to be a Bhagat but cut people’s throats at night. Guru ji went there and made him his Sikh be giving him the Gyaan. He made many such people his Sikhs. They cannot be counted. He made the thieves stop robbing. He made the people walking the wrong path, walk the righteous path. He gave them the wisdom of his Shabad and saved them. He had many Dharamsalas made in different places. The Sikh Sangat had Jor Melas. He gave wisdom to all and made them chant the Satnam. He made them all start Langar and charity. He told them: “make others eat first and then eat after.” He put them on the path of Daya (compassion) and Dharam. The people called Baba ji “Dhan.” They all chanted “Vahi, Vahi.” They said: “you stopped us from corruption and connected us to the true Shabad.”
Guru ji then went to Bengal and Kamroo Desh. Many magicians live there. He gave them wisdom and went to the Triya Desh. Only women ruled that Desh. He gave them wisdom. Raja Shivnaab of Sangladeep was visited by Guru ji as the Raja was praying to see Guru ji. Satguru ji went and made Raja Shivnaab his Sikh. Baba ji went to the Desh where there were more corrupt people. They became Sikhs and the Sangat was established. They understood that Guru ji was the Bhagavan. Wherever Guru ji went, Kaliyuga ran away. I did not fully write the Katha here. If I write all of those Sakhis, I will never finish this Granth. It would become really big.
Baba ji travelled on. He went into the middle of the ocean and saved a huge fish. He travelled to other islands after passing Sangladeep. We don’t even know how many islands he visited to save them. Only the Baba knows his own ways. How can we speak about his powers? What would the son know of the father’s birth? Only the Baba knows his own ways. That Desh Baba ji went for sure, where there were unwise, foolish and corrupt people. Wherever Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji set foot, Dharam and Karam was given to those people. He had Dharamsalas made in those places. He made the people his Sikhs and made them understand compassion. If someone came to receive powers and greatness, Guru ji made them happy too.
Part 9 The Pascham Prasang (Mecca Medina)
Baba Mardana ji said to Guru Nanak Dev ji: “I have one wish remaining in my mind: I have travelled many places but have not seen the Kabba.” Baba Guru Nanak Dev ji said to Baba Mardana ji: “you have never told me this before. I would have shown you as soon as you would have told me. Why did you take so long to tell me this?” Satguru ji had Baba Mardana ji close his eyes. When they opened their eyes, they were at the Kabba in Mecca. Guru ji made Baba Mardana ji travel the city and where they kept the Rozas. He showed him all of the pure places. Baba Guru ji did the Dhera behind the Kabba. The door of the Kabba was closed and locked. The reason it was closed is because they believed that a great Peer would come one day and the lock would open by itself. When Guru ji came there, the miracle happened by itself. The lock opened without a key. The Mujaavars (servants) saw the miracle and figured out that a great Peer had come. They thought a strong Peer had come. The strong and thick lock had opened and they wanted to look for the Peer. They looked but couldn’t find the Vali Allah. They wanted everyone to touch the door and open it but no one could open it. The people got together and used their strength but it didn’t open. The other doors closed as well. The radiance of Baba ji illuminated and the opened doors, closed. The Mujaavars were amazed. This was a new thing for them to see. They thought: “some Hindu must have come. He has come and done some magic. He will take our honour when he leaves.” They searched and saw Baba Guru Nanak Dev ji. They noticed that his form was that of a Hindu. Guru ji was laying down with his legs spread out towards the Kabba. They took his legs and dragged it the other way. As soon as this happened, the closed doors opened up again. They wanted to take Baba ji away. They were burning with jealousy. The Kabba had followed the feet of Guru ji. They took Baba ji outside and the doors of the Kabba closed again. Everyone tried to open the doors but they failed. Hajjis from Punjab had come who were wise. They recognized Guru Nanak Dev ji. They said: “this is Guru Nanak ji Fakir. He is the Peer of Hindus and Mussalmans. He sees Hindus and Turks as the same. He sees both as equals. He made everyone chant the Name of Khuddah to all. He put the world on the righteous path. He made the Turks do Bandagi and the Hindus do Bhagti. He stopped both from ego, the false. You took his feet away so the doors closed. If he curses you, there’s no telling what can happen to you.” They all thought: “we used all our strength but couldn’t open the doors. No door opened. Our pride is gone.” The Mujaavars thought: “let’s have him touch the doors. If the doors open then he is our Peer and we will be his Mureeds from now on. If he can’t open the doors then we will kill him. Let’s speak to him sweetly and get him to touch the doors. We will see his miracle then.” They folded their hands and stood in front of Guru ji. They spoke in Arabic. Guru ji responded in Arabic as well. The Mujaavars respected Guru ji and sat by him. They folded their hands and said: “please forgive our mistake. Please touch the Kabba and open the door. Let the Hajjis do the Hajj.” Satguru ji spoke to Baba Mardana ji: “get up and open the doors to the Kabba.” Baba Mardana ji got up and touched the Kabba. The doors opened. In this way, Guru ji showed Baba Mardana ji Mecca and Medina. Guru ji gave the people wisdom and travelled on.
The land of West, they travelled all and crossed it. They travelled far all the way to the ocean. They travelled to Islands in the oceans. In the ocean, Varun Dev came to meet Satguru ji and touched his feet. Only Guru ji knows his ways. Varun Dev is known as the Khwaja Peer by the Turks. The Turks refer to him in their own language. Bhai Mardana ji got scared there. He asked Guru ji to go back to their home.
Part 10 The Uttar Prasang (The Uttar Udaasi)
Satguru ji then went towards the mountains in the north. He had heard of Sidhs and Sadhoos who lived in the mountains along with Devatas, Devis and Mahesh (Shiv). To travel the area and give the wisdom of gain and loss; truth and false; he went to Neehal (the foot of the mountains). He went to the black mountains and then the white snowy mountains. They all saw the mountainous areas of the Himalayas. If I speak of all the areas, the Granth will become big. Whoever wants to know about it, they can read the other Granths on History. Wherever Satguru ji came and saw someone with faults; who worshipped Devis, Devatas, cemeteries and Lings; he gave them the right wisdom of Akaal Purakh’s Naam. Wherever he went, he gave everyone the Naam along with the righteous path. I said to Murray: “the Baba’s Sakhis can never end. Nobody knows its end. His history is really deep. The Janamsakhi is deep. The Sidhs and Sadhoos got tired of writing. The Baba did many Udaasis. I can’t say them all. The Baba went towards the skies and travelled that realm. He travelled many worlds. Only the Baba knows his way or the one who travelled with him. If I tell you every place he stayed in, the Granth would become really big. If it wasn’t written in other Granths, I would have written it here then. For this reason, I am only summarizing it. If it wasn’t written, I would have made the effort to write it. The Sakhis that weren’t written, I would have written them for sure. The Katha is great. I am writing in detail what wasn’t written. What is written, I will shorten it.”
Part 11 The Sakhi of the Paatshaah of Delhi
The Emperor of Delhi was a Pathaan. Listen to the Sakhi ahead. Guru ji was upset with him and overthrew the throne and gave it to the Mughals. It was the Lodhi emperor, Ibrahim Khan, at that time. His bad time was upon him. He had arrested Sidhs, Sadhoos and Peers. He made them all grind grains with grinders in jail. He said to them: “you are liars and hypocrites! You have showed façades and looted the world. None of you have powers to show me.” Many Muslims and Hindus said to Guru ji: “only you can free the saints and Sadhoos. You must protect your promise to protect the poor and weak. You must protect their forms. Not all armies are made of warriors. There are thousands of animals in the jungle but there is only one lion.” Satguru ji laughed and said: “you are capable of everything. You are praising me. The people of Kaliyuga will be blessed.” All of the grinders of the saints in the jail spun by themselves, by the power of Guru ji. Satguru ji was taken by the police as well. He was made to carry a basket but it floated above his head. He showed everyone this. He casted his power over everyone’s faults. The glory of the Satguru spread further. He was praised in all of Delhi.
In Delhi, there was a dead elephant of a Mohavat. Sri Satguru ji resurrected the elephant as it was a royal elephant. Guru ji blessed the Mohavat as he had done Sangat of saints and Sadhoos. Guru ji was compassionate over him. The Shah was upset and said: “this Hindu has done magic! Kick him out of Delhi so he never comes back!” Satguru ji said: “I am here! I will always be here! I will make someone else the Paatshaah of Delhi now. Now, your own death has spoken. 1878 Vikram (in some translations it is 1578 Vikram) will be the year they come.” Guru ji damned the Badshah which destroyed him of his common sense and wisdom. The Chaugata came and took over Delhi. Babbar became Guru ji’s Sikh.
Part 12 The Parsang of Karoo Paatshaah
Murray listened to me and said: “my doubts have been cleared but I am still in doubt about Karoo Badshah’s discussion with Guru Nanak Dev ji. The difference between them is about a thousand years. How did he speak with the Baba?” I responded to him: “this discussion is doubtful to me as well. Baba ji did not speak to him. Some writer wrote about a discussion. The other writers wrote it further and changed the wording around, adding or removing some words. They widened the Sakhi further. Baba ji gave the example of Karoo, how he was really rich but left the world without his riches. Some writer thought that he actually met him. The year was not considered. The writers sometimes don’t take the details into account. During the discussions with Peers and Fakirs; somebody wrote the discussion of Karoo as an imagination as Baba ji uttered his Bani addressing Karoo’s state. The discussion and example Guru ji had spoken about was written as an actual Sakhi. The fools did not understand. A carefree person wrote it but the scribers didn’t understand it. They didn’t consider the years. As a bee hive became old and fell to the ground, the bees ate all of the honey. Somebody said: “this is the moon that fell after becoming old.” Another example: an oil grinder with black sesame seeds in it was supposed as the Surma pot of Allah. A Rasool had met Karoo and gave him wisdom. Guru Nanak Dev ji spoke about this after a thousand years: “Karoo Paatshaah had 40 Ganj of wealth and left it on earth. He left empty-handed. A Pagambher saint named “Amar” met him and blessed him.” The fools connected the Sakhi with Baba Guru Nanak Dev ji.”
Part 13 The Sakhi of the Bansaavali of the Satguru
Murray then said to me: “tell me another thing: the Gurus after Guru Nanak Dev ji, tell me about them.” I then told Murray of the details of all the Gurus: “Guru Angad Dev ji was after Guru Nanak Dev ji, who sat on the throne. If I say his whole Katha, the Granth would get really long. There is no end to his Katha. After Guru Angad Dev ji, it was Guru Amar Das ji. He was the Paatshaah who made the 22 Soobas bow to his feet by establishing 22 Masands. After winning all of the Paatshaahs, Guru Ram Das ji became the complete being. From that point, the Gurta Ghaddi stayed in the home of Sodhis. It was then Guru Arjan Dev ji and then Guru Hargobind Sahib ji. He picked up the sword and destroyed the corrupt ones. He showed the Meeree and Peeree together; the royalty and the sainthood was combined. He gave brutal losses to Shah Jahan. Lulla Beg and Kamber Beg were killed along with many other great warriors by the Guru. There was peace after the battles for some years.
Guru Har Rai ji and Guru Har Krishan ji were the next Gurus. They completed the wishes of the Sikhs as the Sikhs did the Seva of the Gurus with love. Guru Tegh Bahadhur ji then became the Guru. He gave his head for the good of others. He did a huge sacrifice in Kaliyuga. He protected the honour of Karma and Dharma of the Hindus. The practices and scriptures of the Hindus were protected by Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib ji. Then, Guru Gobind Singh ji illuminated in Kaliyuga. He gave the great kingships of the world and spiritual realms to the Panth. The Panth was made the supreme, just as a Diva lights another Diva; in the same way, the next Guru came to be from the previous Guru. The 10 Satgurus that were, I have told you their names.” Boota Shah had been commissioned to write the history of the Sikhs. Captain Murray had that writing plus what I had dictated.
Part 14 The Sakhi of Nauranga Paatshaah and his Tyranny
Captain Murray said to me: “I want to ask you a deeply secured question: between the emperor and the Gurus, how did the conflict arise?” I then told him the whole history: “I will tell you how the conflict with the Gurus happened. Sometimes they were happy and well; sometimes they were upset. The emperor would have a conflict, lose and then be good again. (Sheikh Ahmed Sirhindi was the instigator to spread force conversions for Islam. He convinced Jahangir to execute Guru Arjan Dev ji as many Muslims had begun to read Gurbani. Sai Miya Mir ji and Baba Sri Chand ji had scolded Jahangir. Jahangir came to ask for forgiveness from Mata Ganga ji. Shah Jahan fought 4 battles with Guru Hargobind Sahib ji and lost. He gave up the conflict. Dara Shikoh was saved by Guru Har Rai ji as Dara Shikoh was conspired to be killed by Aurnagzeb. Aurangzeb was annoyed by this.) Their ways weren’t getting anywhere. When the kingdom came upon the head of Nauranga (Aurangzeb), desires of great sins came to his heart. On one side was Nauranga and on the other side was Sri Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib ji. Both were illuminated in the world. Nauranga made a promise before siting on the Takhat: “I will look for Hindus and convert everyone in Hindustan into Turks.” Guru Tegh Bahadhur ji was very powerful. It was known in the world of how strong he was. Whoever was in pain, his sanctuary would make the pain go away. This whole world is only concerned with joy. If one was really scared, they would go to Guru ji’s shelter to become fearless. This was known in the world. Everyone knew: “he is the true Avatar. Going to his shelter, one is saved.” The Turks got stricter. They would look for Hindus and convert them to Mussalmans (1100 Mandirs in Mathura were destroyed. Pushkar, Ajmer, Kanshi and other places were destroyed) The Hindus got worried and then decided: “let’s get the Brahmins involved. They can deal with it as the Jagdeesh listens to them.” The poor people were helpless. They stood in front of Nauranga with their hands folded and said: “we are under the command of the Brahmins. Bring them into the Deen first. We will follow them into the Deen then.” The poor Hindus did this type of deception. They were off the hook and put it upon the Brahmins. The Brahmins were called by the Badshah. He said: “become Mussalmans! You can get whatever you wish for from me. You will get what the Turks get. If you don’t agree, leave the country. If you stay in my country, I will kill you.” Everyone heard this and went pale. They were as though they were in mourning. They thought: “if we had another land to go to, we would have went. Where in the world can we go to?” The Brahmins were worried. They weren’t calm in day or night. They asked for some time (6 months). They wanted the days to pass. They began to do Tapp and Japp. The Devatas did not come to their aid. They tried hard. The tattletalers said to the Badshah: “they are doing magic for their effort.” When Naurang Shah heard this, he became very angry. He ordered the Brahmins in Kashmir to be converted first.
Ahdeeyas were sent towards Kashmir. When the Brahmins of Kashmir heard this, they lost their patience and courage. The Sooba captured as many Brahmins as he could. He converted them into Mussalmans. The Hindus that survived, they hid in the mountains. The others were converted to Islam. The world was in fear, hearing this. The Brahmins gathered and went to the Satguru. Pandit Kirpa Ram ji brought the Brahims to Anandpur. From Kanshi, Ganga, Kurukshetra and other places, the Brahmins came to Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib ji. They made their pleas to Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib ji. They came and said: “Satguru ji, we heard of your glories and came to your door. You are a Kshatriya whose duty it is to protect the Brahmins. You nurture the cow and the Brahmin along with protecting them. That is why you took an Avatar. We are in trouble. Please save us! You are Satguru Nanak ji, the Avatar of Kaliyuga. Save the Hindus in Hind. Aurangzeb has sworn to finish the seeds of the Hindus. Nauranga Shah has written this. He wants to convert the Brahmins first and then the other Hindus. The Brahmins are the leaders of the Hindus. If they became Muslims, everyone will follow. This is Nauranga’s plan. We come to you with our pleas. You are the true and complete Satguru. Save the Hindus who are drowning. The Turks will make us into Mussalmans. Everyone will follow us towards the Deen. If you become a Muslim, we will follow you. You are a Kshatriya. Pick up the sword! Take all the Hindus and hug them towards your chest. You have no shortage of wealth. You have countless powers. There are 10 times more Hindus than Turks in the country. If you stand with a Khanda, everyone will follow you. Guru Nanak Dev ji gave the kingdom to Babar. The Turks don’t have the Khanda. A head must be given to make the Turks rot. Satguru ji did this blessing.” Satguru ji said: “I won’t disappoint you. Someone must give their head. If it is for your protection, a head needs to be sacrificed. The roots of the Turks will be pulled from the highest courts.” The Brahmins then thought: “if we give our head, when will the root of the Turks be pulled? The Turks will convert us this year. When will you save us? What’s the point of a canoe when one drowns? What’s the point of Kheer if someone dies of hunger? What’s the point of bathing with water when one dies of thirst? How will the thirst be quenched?” Satguru ji said to the Brahmins: “don’t worry. I’ll tell you how to get off the hook. Tell the Badshah that you will become Muslims if your Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib ji converts first.” The Brahmins went to Delhi and said what Satguru ji told them to say: “make the Guru into a Muslim first. The whole world will follow him.” The Brahmins said this to the Badshah. The Turks accepted this.
Nauranga concentrated his focus on Guru ji. He sent police to get Guru ji. Guru ji got ready and headed towards Delhi as he told the Brahmins. He travelled Punjab and told everyone to get ready for battles. Guru ji came to Delhi himself. He had himself arrested in the homes of Turks. He stood at the doors of Delhi and sent his own shawl to be pawned (for sweets). It was sent to the shop of a Halwai as a way to make himself known. Nauranga found out about Guru ji and had him arrested. Whom was being searched in the whole land, he had come to the Shah’s home. Guru ji was under Nauranga’s capture. Satguru ji had himself arrested in this way.
In jail, Satguru ji was threatened a lot. They tried to scare him. Nothing worked. A Mughal was sent to Satguru ji. He spoke harsh words to Guru ji and threatened Guru ji further. The Turks said: “become a Turk! If you don’t want to convert then show us miracles. You call yourself the Guru of the world. You must have powers then. You call yourself the Sacha (True) Paatshaah and us the false Paatshaah; if you don’t become a Muslim, show us your powers. Show us your miracle. If you have any powers, show them as Baba Ram Rai showed us. He showed us everything we wanted to see.” Satguru ji said to them: “Ram Rai did not do a good thing. He had himself praised and took the greatness. He went on ahead and made other saints in trouble. The miracles that he showed, we are now obliged to show them as well. You are asking me this for this reason. That sin has come upon other Peers and Fakirs. It was because of Ram Rai that other Peers and Fakirs were killed. He set the bar too high. Not all Peers and Fakirs have powers. You kill the ones who don’t powers. For this reason, I will not show you powers. If I show you powers, you will compel others to show them as well. Miracles are the path to destruction. Peers and Shahs should not show miracles. Destruction should be avoided. Miracles are never pleasant to Fakirs. It is a road to destruction. I won’t do it. If you are to torture me, you will have to give this account in the court of Khuddah.” Nauranga was angry hearing this. He said: “you are making excuses by confusing us with your words. Show us miracles or become a Muslim! Show us miracles or accept death! You will be killed, wrapped in the raw hide of a cow. You will be wrapped and seated in the sun. As the sun dries the hide, you will be punished and squished. You call yourself a Guru and looted the whole world. Why don’t you become a Mussalmaan? Aren’t Mussalmans like Hindus? You run away from us.” Satguru ji thought about this: “my time has come. The time I was waiting for, that time has come now.” Guru ji said to the world: “worry about that, which was not supposed to happen. This is the path in the world. Nanak, nobody stays forever.” Satguru ji knew the time had come. He wanted to smash his head on Nauranga’s sins. Satguru ji said: “look how great my Isht, Guru Nanak Dev ji, is. I will show you a miracle! You won’t be able to find my head. Swing your Tegh towards my head. My head won’t be cut by your sword. This will be the miracle. Find your sharpest sword and bring it. Bring an experienced executioner who has cut many heads.” Guru ji said this while sitting on a stool. Guru ji cheated Nauranga as it was said that the Mughal rule would be uprooted by the giving of the head of the Guru. Guru ji gave his head but not his honour. He kept his Karma and Dharma intact. Guru ji saved his body from the hide of a cow. He made the Turks guilty by giving his head. The Turk fools did not know what play they had been played. In this way, the Satguru did this great task for the Dharma. He gave his head for the good of others.
Part 15 Bachittar Natak
He busted the shell of his body on top of the head of the Delhi Master and went to the dimension of the Prabhoo. (Guru) Tegh Bahadhur did what nobody else could have done. (Guru) Tegh Bahadhur passed on, leaving the world in sorrow. The world said: “hai, hai, hai,” in shock. The Devatas in Heaven shouted: “jai, jai, jai!” When Satguru ji did such a task, the Turk Emperor was left in worries. Nauranga was upset and said: “I couldn’t figure out his play.” Nauranga’s heart was suffocated with a deep fear. He stopped his tyranny upon the Hindus from that day onwards. Patience spread among the Hindus. The calls in the court of Khuddah happened. Akaal Purakh thought about this and kicked out the Peer and Pagambhers from his court, whom were followed by Aurangzeb. The Turk Peers were kicked out of the court of Khuddah. They had to leave Sach Khand. Their Dhera was then set up behind the Darbar of Akaal Purakh. From that day onwards, the rule of the Turks in Delhi began to weaken. The power of the Turks became weak as the Pagambhers of Islam were upset with Nauranga.
