Panth Parkash Part 26 – 35

Part 26 The Sakhi of Machhiwara

Satguru ji travelled on ahead to Machhiwara.  The Pathaans were with Guru ji.  They went to call Gulaba Khatri Masand.  Listen to the Sakhi of Machhiwara as Guru ji stayed with the Khatris.  The Syed Pathaans did Guru ji’s Seva, they carried Guru ji’s Manjhi on their heads.  Gulaba Khatri brought Prashaad for Guru ji.  Guru ji was in peace after eating the food.  Guru ji spent the day in the garden and was taken to the home in the evening.  Gulaba Masand took Guru ji to his Haveli in the Chabarra.  Two Singhs came with Guru ji.  Bhai Gulaba kept Guru ji hidden in the Haveli.  One day, Guru ji asked for a goat.  The Singhs did the Jhatka of the goat as Satguru ji only ate Jhatka.  Guru ji ate the meat and threw the bones into the home of a Turk.  The Turk came and swore at the Khatri: “you threw bones in my home!”  The Khatri said to Guru ji: “I am really poor.  If he reports me, I will get killed.”  Satguru ji took out gold coins from his pocket and threw them into the home of the Turk.  The Turk picked them up right away and went quiet.  Guru ji stayed there for 10 days and wished to leave.  The Pathaans, Ghani Khan and Nabhi Khan went with Guru ji.  Satguru ji was convinced to change his Bana.  A chola like Hajjis was made.  Guru ji wore it and opened his hair.  He wore a long blue Kurta as did the Singhs.  The Pathaans carried Guru ji’s Manjhi.  Guru ji had been introduced to everyone as the “Peer of Uch.”

Nabhi Khan and Ghani Khan carried the bed along with the Singhs.  They soon came to Kanech Village.  There was a Masand there named Bhai Fattah.  Satguru ji had him called and said: “I need to get on ahead quicker.  Give me the strong female horse in your home.  I will give you a lot of money for it.”  Fattah Masand’s bad days were upon him.  He said: “if I give you my horse, I will be hung.”  Satguru ji said: “you aren’t going to avoid the noose now either.”  Fattah was hung in Lahore over some other case.  Satguru ji’s words became true.

Satguru ji travelled ahead.  The Turks surrounded Guru ji and said: “Peer ji, please eat food with us.  Stay one night with us.”  The Syed Pathaans said: “our Peer keep Rojas.  He only eats one grain of millet everyday to open his fast.  He holds a Tasbih all the time and doesn’t speak.  The other Mureeds will eat for sure.”  They made such a plan.  The Singhs asked Guru ji: “what will we do?  We will have to eat their food.  How will our Dharam remain in the world along with you, Guru ji?”  Satguru ji said: “touch the food with your Sarblo Karad.  Nobody becomes a Turk by force or oppression.  The only way to become a Turk is to have companionship with a Turkani.  I will tell you another thing to relieve your doubt: bring some food back with you, that you touch with the Karad.  If you still have some doubts remaining, take 5 dips in the Amritsar Sarovar.”  The Singhs did as they were told.  They touched the food with the Sarblo Karad before they ate.  The Turks said: “why did you touch the food with a Karad?”  The Pathaans said: “this is a new Shariya started in Mecca.  The Hajjis have started this new tradition.”  When the Singhs came back and looked at the food they brought back, it was Karah and rice.  The Singhs had faith then.  From there, Guru ji went to Mohi, Lamma Jattpur and Bhagtay.

Part 27 The Sakhi of Kangar Tappay Deena

Satguru ji arrived in Kangar Tappay.  Deena and Kangar were two villages, side by side.  The ruler of the area was Chaudhari Lakhmeer ji.  Satguru ji stayed in a Chabarra in Chaudhari Lakhmeer’s home.  Lakhmeer and his brothers bowed to Guru ji’s feet.  Satguru ji blessed them a lot and told them what had he been through: “I am telling you what I’ve been through and what I am up against.  If you can keep me here without fear then I will stay some days here.”  Lakhmeer ji and Shameer ji said: “you are the master of our heads.”  They folded their hands and bowed.  Satguru ji stayed there for some time, revealed to all.  Many Singhs and Sangats came to Guru ji to do his Darshan.

Listen to what happened to the others.  The younger Sahibzadas, what happened to them, listen on.  They separated from everyone after crossing the Sirsa.  Everyone went their own way as there was chaos during the attack.  Guru ji kept an eye till Ropar.  After crossing the Sirsa they separated as a lot of armies came from every direction.  The elder Mata took her younger grandsons and was separated from the rest.  Let me tell you of the other Singhs: the Singhs came to Ropar.  They stood and fought.  Many became Shaheeds.  They said: “Guru ji should go far from here.  We will fight here.”  They kept the Pahari armies occupied at the Sirsa crossing.  They then slowly came to Ropar.  They thought Guru ji was there.  The people of Ropar opened the gates to deceive the Singhs.  They lied and said: “Satguru ji is with us.”  Some kept 2 Singhs and some kept 4 Singhs.  They looted them and killed them.  Some Singhs came to Kotla.  They weren’t killed as Nihang Khan was a good man.  He served the Singhs.  Baba Bachittar Singh ji was injured.  Pathaan Nihang Khan had him treated but he eventually died.  Many other Singhs were injured and were treated with Nihang Khan.  Many times, did the Pathaans stay with Guru ji.  Guru ji gave them horses as blessings.

Listen on ahead: Vazeer Khan killed the milk-drinking Sahibzadas.  Mata Gujri ji and the Sahibzadas were separated.  The Chef Brahmin, Gangoo, was with them.  He was corrupt.  He had become greedy.  He was with Mata ji during the separation.  He saw that Mata ji had many golden coins, diamonds, emeralds and gems.  The Brahmin wanted to steal them.  He took Mata ji to his own village.  The village was named Saheri.  He kept Mata ji and the Sahibzadas hidden in the jungle first.  He took everything from Mata ji to hide it.  He said: “I will bury this in the ground.  You shouldn’t worry about anything.”  Mata ji said: “I am worried only for my grandsons.  Take us to a home so we can stay alone.”  The Brahmin took them to his own home.  He kept Mata ji in his home at night.  He said to the Rangars (Jaani Khan Maani Khan) of Morinda: “I want to meet the Navaab.  I will have you capture the sons of the Guru.  I want a reward for this.”  The Rangars did not believe him.  They took the Brahmin with them and wanted to see the children.  The Brahmin showed them the Sahibzadas.  Jaani and Maani, the Rangars, believed him.  They arrested Mata ji and the Sahibzadas.  They kept them in the jail of their town.  One of them stayed and the other went to Sirhind.  They gave the custody of Mata ji and the Sahibzadas to the Sooba Sirhind.  They took the rewards for themselves and didn’t give anything to Gangoo Brahmin.  They said: “give us the reward as we gave you the Guru’s sons.  We are helping the Deen Mazhab.”  The Navaab’s army came to Morinda and took Mata ji and the Sahibzadas to Sirhind.  In Sirhind, they were kept in a cold tower, the Tanda Burj.  Mata Gujri ji and the Sahibzadas were there.  Khatri Sucha Nand had sent a proposal for his daughter for Baba Ajeet Singh ji.  Guru ji did not accept so Sucha Nand became Guru ji’s enemy.  He wanted to take revenge and said to the Navaab: “they are the children of a snake.  Older or younger, they bite.  If they accuse you something, you wouldn’t be able to defend yourself.  Give them to the Navaab of Maler Kotla.  His brothers were killed by the Guru.  Have these children killed by the hands of Navaab of Maler Kotla.”  Vazeer Khan called Sher Mohammed Khan, the elder of the Pathaans of Maler Kotla.  Khwaja Khijjar Khan came as well.  He said: “Nahr Khan was killed by the Guru.  You can take your revenge by killing the sons of the Guru.”  Sher Mohammed didn’t accept.  He shook his head and said: “if I kill these milk-drinking children, I will be slandered in the world.  My brother was killed in battle like a warrior.  What greatness is it to kill milk-drinking children?”  He disagreed and got up saying “haw, haw!”  The Navaab left.

Vazeer Khan called the Sahibzadas to his court.  He said to the both of them: “become Mussalmans and live in peace.  If you don’t come into the Deen, you will be killed.  We will kill you like your father had been killed by giving him pain and worry.”  The Sahibzadas heard this and became angry.  They yelled out in Bir Ras: “there is nobody that can kill our father!  Our father keeps many weapons.  He is a great warrior.  Whoever goes to kill him, our father will kill them.”  The Navaab bribed them a lot.  He said to his court: “these children should be killed.  If they don’t agree to becoming Mussalmans, cut them and kill them.”  When the sinner said this, the Turks became very happy.  They grabbed the Sahibzadas and pulled them.  They dragged them without compassion.  One executioner had a knife.  He held his knew to their chests and slit their throats.  Their life suffered before dying.  The two milk-drinking Sahibzadas died in this way.  When the elder Mata heard this, she fell from the Burj and her Pranas left her body as well.  Such a horrible event happened.  The whole world heard this and yelled out in pain.  What can I say about what those sinners did to the Sahibzadas?  The sky should have fallen; the earth should have ripped in half.

Part 28 Guru ji Receives News/ Zafarnama

Guru ji heard of the fate of his younger sons while sitting with the Rai.  Noora Mahi came from Sirhind.  He spoke but only cried.  Satguru ji had him calm down and said: “tell me Sikh, where are you coming from?  Do you have news of my mother?  What did the sinners do the Sahibzadas’ heads?”  The Sikh took soil and put it in his head.  He was in shock and trauma.  He said: “the Turks have caused their own destruction.  What can I say?  I can’t speak anything as what happened to the Sahibzadas.  In the court, the sinner did bad things without fearing the Parvadhagar.”  Guru ji stayed quiet for about 20 mins.  Guru ji then spoke with determination: “there were many Sikhs in the court.  Did they not say anything when this was happening?  I didn’t cause any damage to the Sooba.  I didn’t kill anyone of the Sooba.  Sikhs give their heads for others.  Didn’t the Sikhs stop them, seeing my sons?  Masand Sulakhana lives there.  There are 1,400 homes of Sikhs there.  Did they not say anything?  The Masand Raipuriya works in the court.  From Chinaarthal, didn’t Bulaaki Ahilkaar say anything?  Why did they kill the children?  What was the strategy?  Killing children without any purpose would not affect these people.  They weren’t their children.  Upon the body it effects, only they know.  People just speak lies.”  Guru ji shed tears after saying this.  The Sikhs standing by made a request: “you are the complete Gyaani of the Karta.  You are shedding tears?”  Satguru ji spoke: “break a leaf from a green tree.”  As the Sikhs broke a leaf, a drop of water came out.  Guru ji showed this to the Sikhs.  He said: “look!  When the leaf separates from the root, it sheds water.  This body is of human and aware of the Chetna.”  Guru ji asked the Sikh: “did anyone speak up in disagreement?”  The Sikh said: “one Pathaan of Maler Kotla.”  Satguru ji then said: “he kept his roots by planting them.  His actions fell upon others.  He kept his safety by speaking up for the Guru.”

Part 29 Khyaal Patshahi 10

Tell the beloved Parmeshwar of the state of his Mureeds.  Without you it is like illness; the blankets/comforters feel like a covering of snakes.  The jug feels like a spear, the cup feels like a Khanjar; without you, it is like suffering by the cleaver of the butcher.  When you are in my thoughts, even sleeping on the ground is full of happiness, like a warm oven.

In Deena, Guru ji sat and decided to write Baints.  In his composition (the Zafarnama), he wrote about the battles we went through; wisdom and advise on well-being; scoldings; the truth of the situation.  This was sent to Nauranga.  Bhai Daya Singh ji took the letter to Nauranga.  Nauranga read a little and left most of the Zafarnama (which were the remaining Hakayats) as he had fallen into deep regret.  Nauranga died in the night, after reading the letter.

Part 30 The Burying of the Seet Prashaad/ Leaving Deena

Listen on to the Katha of the Satguru (oh, Captain Murray).  Guru ji travelled on.  During his time there, Guru ji became compassionate and gave Lakhmeer food from his own plate.  He was happy with his Seva.  Bhai Lakhmeer ji took the Seet Prashaad to his home.  He gave the food to his wife but she buried the food in one corner of the home.  She said: “we are the followers of the Sarvari.  Our roots will be pulled if we eat the food of the Guru.”  Lakhmeer ji got influenced as well.  The next day, Lakhmeer went to Guru ji.  Guru ji said: “did you eat the food I gave you?”  Lakhmeer said: “the whole family ate it.”  Satguru ji, the Omniscient One, knew the truth.  He said: “Lakhmeer, you are lying.”  Satguru ji got angry.  He wanted Lakhmeer to be the king but Lakhmeer missed the blessing.  Guru ji distanced himself from Lakhmeer and said: “Lakhmeera!  What did you do?  I was going to write the kingdom on your forehead but you erased it.  I came here to bless you and to write the kingdom on your forehead.  The saint does not sit close to the corrupt.  I wish to leave from here now!”  Guru ji did not give Lakhmeer any weapon or clothes as a token of his love, as he usually would do.  He didn’t take any gifts from Lakhmeer either.

Part 31 The Sakhi of Biraran Jaal Piloo Dvaaran

Guru ji left Deena and headed towards Kot Kapoora.  How Kapoora was hung, I will tell you.  When Satguru ji reached Kot Kapoora, he met Kapoora who had deception in his mind.  Guru ji said: “take me inside the Haveli.  I will open up my Kamarkassa there.  Since I left Anandpur, I haven’t opened up my Kamarkassa.  I have shaken the kingdom of the Mughals.  Their power is now gone.  Kapoora, become Khalsa and take the kingdom.”  Kapoora had bad Karma as well.  It was his bad time.  He spoke without faith: “I work for the Turks.  If they find out about this, they will hang me.”  Satguru ji heard this and said: “Kapoora, you became a useless Katoora (puppy).  You spoke of being hung; you will be hung and die for sure in this way.”  Guru ji said this and set off ahead towards Rohi.  Kapoora was hung by Issa Khan Manjh.  Listen to more of Kapoora’s story: he was hung, the unwise.  Kapoora sold horses to Issa Khan.  The price was written.  When Kapoora was going to Rori Village to collect the money from Issa Khan, he took thieves with him to loot Issa Khan.  His plan didn’t work out and he was proven guilty.  He was hung for this.  Issa Khan killed him in this way.  The words of the Guru did not go empty.  The corrupt Kapoora was killed in this way.

Listen ahead about Guru ji’s Sakhi.  Guru ji travelled towards Rohi Village.  Satguru ji kept a great army there.  News came about the Turks: they were coming from Sirhind.  The soldiers, the Brars, stopped Guru ji to get paid.  The foot soldiers were with Guru ji.  They were Jatt Brars.  They had small horses and mules.  They grabbed spears and went with Guru ji.  The money that Sikhs sent from foreign lands, Guru ji paid the Brars with that money.  If Guru ji had delayed their salaries, the Brars would cause fights.  The Brars took Guru ji around the Malva area to keep Guru ji there and get paid.  They would tell Guru ji: “the Turks are coming this way.”  They went through Abloo, Mahima, Doday Matti, Kaoni, Jhundo Patti, Bhai ke Chakki.  Nobody would ask Guru ji to come to their homes and sit.  There were villages in the Rohi area but I don’t know their names.  Where Guru ji set up camp, the people didn’t come to give Guru ji any gifts.  The people had bags of water but would refuse to give water to Guru ji.  They would say: “give us money first, then we will give you water.”  They said many things: “the Turks are quite near.”

One day, in the village of Rohi, Satguru ji was thirsty.  Satguru ji sent the Brars to Khanna to get water.  Khanna did not give water to the Brars for Guru ji.  He said: “I don’t have water.”  Guru ji sent 2 gold coins for Khanna.  He filled about 4 cups of water for the 2 gold coins.  Satguru ji called Khanna to him and said: “you are thinner than water.  You took two bones and gave me this water.”  He made Khanna embarrassed.

Guru ji looked into the distance and saw the Majhails coming towards him.  He sent the Brars to see who they were.  The Brar met them and came back.  He said: “the weaklings of Majha are coming.”  Satguru ji heard this and said: “how are you saying that the Majhails are weaklings?  Don’t call them weak again!  The Majhails will be your sons-in-law.”

The Brars had a brother who had heard that Guru ji had powers.  He wanted to see his powers.  He brought milk of a brown buffalo everyday.  One day he brought milk of a black buffalo.  Satguru ji held the milk and shook his head.  He said: “you came into the world to see powers?  Oh Sikh, what did you do?  You want to find the end of the Guru?”  The Sikh folded his hands and said: “the women of my home did the deception.”  Satguru ji said: “don’t do this again.  I forgive you this time.”

Part 32 The Sakhi of Mukatsar

Kapoora the Katoora, listen to his story.  He sent news to the Turks: “without a doubt, you will be able to capture the Guru.  I didn’t provide any assistance to him.”  The Turks came quickly after getting this news.  Kapoora sent news to Guru ji too, to remain on good terms.  The Brars got news about the Turks were coming.  Some got ready to run away.  They filled their flasks with water and headed towards the jungle of Lambi Rohi.  The Majhails gathered their patience and came to fight for the Guru.  They were determined to fight or die for the Guru.  The Brars advised Satguru ji: “let’s go through Rohi.”  Satguru ji said: “look at the state of the people.  Some are walking.  Not all have horses.”  The Brars said: “you wish to stay with the Sikhs.  When you walk ahead, they will follow you.”  The Majhails made a determination: “if Satguru ji goes on ahead, we can hold off the enemy.”  They sent a message to Guru ji: “you go on ahead.  The Turks will follow you.  Without fighting, they won’t turn back.  Wherever you go, the Turks will follow.  The Brars eat and don’t wish to fight.  We are Singhs of Majha.  We will fight.  Give permission to the Panth Majhail.  We will fight till death to take these Turks off your back.”  Guru ji said: “come on ahead a little more.  Let’s find a good place to fight.  We will stand and fight then.”  The night was spent like this.  The news bearers sent news: “the Turk Kasooris set up camp.  They are right behind us.”  Many heard this and ran away, leaving Satguru ji.  The Brars were thinking of themselves, the ones who boasted of being good warriors.  They ran in different directions.  They tried to run away and hid.  They gave the excuse: “we are going to get the correct news.”  Some said: “we will go ahead to see.”  The Garrwa of Satguru ji was left there.  The Brars ran away using many excuses.  The Brars who received 1 Rupee each, they scattered and ran away.  The Majhails were on foot.  They didn’t ask for pay.  They stood with their hands folded.  They followed Guru ji’s command.  They wanted to fight there as Guru ji went on ahead.  They said: “go on ahead towards Rohi.  We won’t leave.  We will fight the Turks in Rohi.”  As the Khalsa advised Guru ji, Guru ji did what they said.  The Brars that were sent to find a good place, they came back and took Guru ji.  They said: “don’t stay here, the army is coming.”  Satguru ji asked for his horse.  He said: “Satnam,” and mounted his horse.  Guru ji headed towards Rohi.  The sun came up a little.  The army was seen coming.  They army followed.  The Khalsa folded their hands and said: “please give us permission to fight here.”  By the signal of his eyes, Guru ji gave them permission.  He said: “you wish to obtain Shaheedi in this place.”  The Khalsa stood.  The battle standards were planted.  The Nagaras were played.  They fired their rifles to inform the enemy.  The Turks heard the noise.  They came like vultures.  The Singhs hung their Chadras on the trees to make it look like many tents.  The Turks saw the fake tents and were confused.  They got scared.  They were afraid of Guru ji’s arrows.  They said: “he can fire from many Kos away.”  Some said: “he knows magic.”  They got together and walked ahead.  Some went ahead and some went back out of fear of Guru ji’s arrows.  The Turks saw some of the people that ran away.  They killed the poor ones that were hiding.

Listen to what happened with Guru ji.  Satguru ji went on ahead and stood to watch.  There was a Tibbi about 3 km away.  Guru ji stood there with some Singhs.  He looked from a high place to see the Singhs fight.  Listen to the Singhs’ story: they attacked the enemy.  There were only 40 Singhs who were determined to die: “we will go one by one to fight.  Guru ji will get a long time to go on ahead.”  As the Khalsa thought about this, the Singhs came out one by one.  They all died like this.  They were posted in a lower place.  Some standing Singhs had a post because of the branches.  One Singh killed many; as a lion attacks its prey, the Singhs attacked with their swords.  The Turks lost their will to fight, seeing the Singhs.  They shot their rifles and arrows from a distance.  The rifles the Singhs had, they shot 2 bullets at a time.  The Turks couldn’t figure out how many Singhs there were in the lower area.  They thought there were hundreds.  They thought Guru ji was among them.  They were afraid of Guru ji and stayed back.  When the Singhs died, they attacked on the lower area.  The remaining Singhs were killed by the Turks.  Some Turks took the clothes and weapons of the Shaheed Singhs.  The sun was hot.  The Turks got thirsty and went backwards to get water.

Listen to the story of Guru ji.  Guru ji was on a high hill.  The Brars said: “lets go on ahead.  The Turks will come after us after killing the Singhs.”  Sri Satguru ji said: “the Turks are running away because they lost.  Turk Natha au akhi ghatta, the Turks are running away as they have dirt in their eyes.  Bir Bir takay, mukh laagay Gutta – they are looking on as they have rocks in their mouths.”  Guru ji sent people to get news.  They brought news: “the Turks are gone.”  Guru ji went to the place of the battle.  He came to the Sikhs and wiped their faces with his handkerchief.  He blessed them with many blessings.  Satguru ji had the distances measured of how far the Singhs ran out to fight.  Guru ji gave them that many Jagirs.  Some walked 20 steps and some walked 30, 40 and 50; where they fought and died.  Some went ahead 100 steps and some went 200.  They fought ahead and didn’t look back.  None fell backwards.  Some went 5 steps or 10.  He gave them 1000 times their steps.  Guru ji found 2 that were alive still.  He (Bhai Maha Singh ji) had stayed with Guru ji in Anandpur.  Guru ji cleaned his face.  He (Bhai Maha Singh ji) opened his eyes a little.  Guru ji put water in his mouth.  He had some breaths left.  Satguru ji said: “ask for something!  I will give you what you want as I am happy with you.”  The Singh (Bhai Maha Singh ji) said: “if you are happy, then knot our broken way!”  Satguru ji agreed.  He took out the Bidhava from his pocket.  He said: “Dhan are the Gursikhs who are generous towards others.”

Part 33 The Sakhi of Sabo, Sado Desh, Talwandi Biraran

Sri Satguru ji knew that this was the doing of Kapoora.  He had brought the Turks.  Guru ji left Jaalanvaal, Bigarpur and Chattyana to go on to Sabo ki Talwandi.  Satguru ji headed towards Sabo ki Talwandi.  He met Bhai Dalla ji there.  Guru ji left the Brars that were employed before entering Sabo Ki Talwandi.  Bhai Dalla Rai ji said to Guru ji: “Satguru ji, we will do as you say.  We won’t leave your side.  We won’t ask for pay from you.  My relatives and I will serve you.  Our bodies, minds and wealth are all yours.  I have brought my whole family to serve you.”  The whole family came to serve Satguru ji’s feet.  Some brought money, clothes and blankets.  Some brought cows and some brought buffaloes and horses.  Some brought grain and food for the Langar.  Some brought ghee and some brought salt.  Bhai Dalla ji ruled the area.  He sent out commands to all in his area to bring gifts for Guru ji.  He wanted everyone to gather and be ready for any attack from the Turks.  They all gathered very quickly.  He said: “don’t be like Kapoora and sleep in your homes.  Be ready to fight for Satguru ji.”  Satguru ji gave him a lot of blessings.  The whole area of Jungle (Malva) came to bow to Guru ji.  The people came and brought many gifts.  They were all blessed by Guru ji.

One day, a lot of Sangat came.  The people got together and spoke to Satguru ji but didn’t know how to speak formally.  The Sikhs said: “it is true, the mouth of a Jatt is like an axe.  They don’t know what to say and when.”  The Jatts said: “you came to our home and so we won’t let any pain come towards you.  We do a lot of hard work but we are not prosperous.  A ghost lives in Bathinda who eats portions of our earnings of crops and grains.”  Satguru ji heard this and called Bhai Dalla ji.  He gave him the Pahul and made him into a Singh.  He then said: “show me Bathinda.  I will take the ghost out of Bathinda so the people can live peacefully.”  Bhai Dalla Singh ji then said: “let’s go to Bathinda.”

Guru ji came to Bathinda.  The ghost found out.  He showed his power.  He made a storm to scare everyone.  He made the people sick in the area.  Some had headaches.  He made the people speak gibberish.  He said: “why have you come to give me pain?  I have been living here for many years.”  Satguru ji said: “these are my Sikhs.  Leave them.  Go somewhere else or I will kill you.  I will give you to the Shaheeds.  They will punish you.”  One Singh captured the ghost and tied him up.  He punished him and gave him a lot of pain.  Guru ji said: “if I blow towards you once, your sons and grandson would be destroyed.”  The ghost said: “I am the brother of Makho Daint.  Where will you send me then?  Make me your Sikh.  I will serve you.”  Satguru ji commanded him: “go to Sirhind and settle there.  Destroy Sirhind and pull its roots.  Whoever wishes to save Sirhind, eat them.”  The ghost bowed and headed towards Sirhind.  Guru ji said to Bhai Dalla Singh ji: “get a bull and Jhatka it in the name of Bhawani.”  Bhai Dalla Singh ji called for a bull.  The bull was cut and the blood splattered in every direction.  Satguru ji did his Dhera in the fort of Bathinda.  The people of Malva were then prosperous.

Bhai Dyaal Singh ji and Bhai Fateh Singh ji of Bhai ke were given the Pahul of the Khanda.  The grandsons of the Tarkhaan Bhai Roopa ji: Bhai Param Singh ji and Bhai Dharam Singh ji also took the Pahul of Khanda.  Sodhi Kaul ji of Kotha was called.  He brought his son Sodhi Abhay Ram ji with him.  Satguru ji was compassionate with him.  Guru ji gave Abhay Ram ji the Pahul of Khanda and kept him with him.  Guru ji said: “a good pot can keep the contents good.”  Sodhi Kaul came to Guru ji often.  He did Guru ji’s Darshan everyday.

Satguru ji sat in Damdama, where Likhansar is today; and wrote the Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib ji.  He used the quills and threw them into the Sarovar after using them.  Guru ji said: “this is my Kanshi.  If a fool comes here to read and study, they would become scholar Gyaanis.”  The people of Maraaj (the kings of Patiala- Phool Vanshi) came to Guru ji at Damdama.  They brought cows, horses and their Dasvands for Satguru ji.  Two sons of Sodhi Kaul ji became Singhs.  They were known as Ram Singh and Tiloka Singh ji.

Part 34 Blessing Malva

There was a time once there was a drought in Malva.  Rain was desperately needed.  The Sangat came to Satguru ji and folded their hands.  They all came and asked for rain.  They did an Ardaas to Satguru ji.  After the Ardaas, it began to rain.  Satguru ji established his seat at Damdama.  Satguru ji sat on a high place and showed everyone, while saying to all: “look!  There comes a great river, flowing down.  This place will be Malva (like the rich area of Malva Ujjain).”  Hearing the words, the people did not accept: “it just rained and so there is water there.  It will return to its place tomorrow.”  Satguru ji then said: “I want to make this place into Malva from the jungle.  I want Kamaad, wheat and rice to grow here.  I want the prosperity of Sirhind to come here.”  Bhai Dalla Singh ji did not bow to Guru ji’s words.  Instead, he said: “we are better with oats and millets.”  (He implied that the rich items will get the attention of the Turks who would tax them) Satguru ji got upset at this and said: “you spoke like a jungle-dweller.  I wanted to make this area prosperous like the Malva.  I wanted to bless you but you refused it.”

Part 35 Departing for the Dakhan

Guru ji stood in Talwandi and was focused on himself.  A Sikh came from the Dakhan and said: “Nauranga has departed for Hell.”  Satguru ji heard this and said: “let’s make his sons fight now, so they die.  Let’s go to the Dakhan.”  Guru ji said this to the Singhs.  He said to Bhai Dalla Singh: “Dalla Singh, come with me.  I will make you the King of Delhi.  I will destroy the current King of Delhi.”  Bhai Malla, Bhai Dalla Singh’s younger brother was standing by.  He said to his brother, in his ear: “you will get such a kingdom as he gave to his sons.”  Guru ji’s Purohit (whose lineage had been with the Guru Ghaddi from Guru Nanak Dev ji’s time) heard this.  He shook his head and told Guru ji: “I have told you many times Guru ji, it is no use to bless these people.  Instigating these Jatts is of no use.  These Jatts of the Jungle wish for new blessings everyday.  They talk behind your back after.”  Guru ji said: “I haven’t instigating these Jatts.”  The Purohit said: “they are saying that: you had your sons killed.”  Satguru ji said: “his sons will die.  My Sikhs, my sons are standing with me.”  As soon as Guru ji said this, Bhai Dalla Singh’s only son died.

Guru ji then decided to leave after staying in Talwandi for 9 months and 9 days.  The whole Dhera headed towards the Dakhan, leaving the big places of the Turks.  Bhai Dalla Singh turned away from Guru ji, becoming a Bemukh.  He only travelled about two or three camps and then slipped away.  Other people of the Jungle area were with Guru ji but even they slipped away, in deception.  The son of Sodhi Kaul from Kotha was with Guru ji.  When Sodhi Kaul ji heard about his son going, he sent his Divaan after his son.  He had his son picked up along with his bed.  When Satguru ji called for the Sodhi, the Singhs saw that his camp was empty.  In this way, many ran away from Guru ji.  Guru ji noticed that the people of Jungle had run away.  Only 4 households of Jungle (Malva) stayed with Guru ji: Mohan (of Maraaj), Bhagtoo, Behlo, and Roopa.  The descendants of these 4 households travelled quite far with Satguru ji.  Guru ji then gave his blessings and told them to go home.
