Part 1 The Sakhi of the Creation of the Khalsa
Ik Oankaar Satgur Prasaad.
Sri Vahiguru Ji ki Fateh Hai.
Ath Sri Gur Panth Prakash Granth
By bowing to the feet of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji; meditating on Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji (by saying the name of Guru Nanak Dev ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji, Sardar Rattan Singh ji mentions all ten Gurus by remembering the first and the tenth Guru); I (Sardar Rattan Singh ji Bhangoo, the grandson of Bhai Mehtab Singh ji through his father and the grandson of Jathedaar Shaam Singh ji through his mother) write the history of the creation of the Khalsa. Place your hand on my head and assist me in this. Now I will write the Sakhi of the Singhs as I was told by my elders. There are other Sakhis which I have heard from others as well. The old Sikhs who are quite wise (who memorized Aad and Dasam Bani), I will write about them with the intellect that I have. I write this Katha with love from my mind and body. This Katha destroys fear from the heart. The way I dictated this Katha to the Angrez, the English; I state it now for my own people. I will tell you why I had to tell the Angrez this history.
There was a French Firangi named Count Benoit De Boigne, known as Dhuboi to the Singhs (the Portuguese, French and English came. They established the East India Company and gave loans to the kings of Hindustan. They slowly took over the lands in this way and created their own armies. They used the people of Hindustan to take control over them). Dhuboi was employed with the Marhathas as a soldier. He was given a kampoo, a regiment, to guard the borders. He served for about 30 or 40 years in the army. When he was old, he decided to go to France. He sold off his belongings and went to France. He had a nephew named Pietre Perron, the son of his sister. Dhuboi gave his nephew the charge of his regiment. Perron was courageous and smart. He grew his regiment to four. He gained control over the area between Agra and Delhi. He fought to take over the whole area. The Marhathas became doubtful over Perron as his power grew. They were afraid that he would turn on them and wanted to take his army and land from him. Perron was smart. He knew what the Marhathas were thinking. He sold his area to the English and went back to France. It was 1860 Vikram (1803 CE) when Perron left and ruined the Marhathas. The English gained control over some land. The Marhathas were upset at this.
The Colonel of the English came into Delhi. The commanding officer, Sri David Ouchterlony, was the general. During that time, the Singhs had surrounded Delhi. Sardar Baghel Singh ji and Baba Jassa Singh ji had come to loot Delhi. They would take over and then leave to celebrate Holla. The Angrez were disheartened as they were looted as well. The English generals were upset at this. They wanted to know who the Singhs were. The English couldn’t face the Singhs in strength. The English asked the Badshah, Shah Allam II, Gauhar Ali, about the Singhs: “who gave the kingdom of Punjab to the Singhs? What task did they complete for you? Did they kill some big enemy of yours? Do they have some deed to the land to rule? Which Shah gave them the kingdom?” The Badshah responded: “no Shah has written any deed to any land for them. They are not masters of any land. They have not completed any task for us. They didn’t kill any enemy. The Mughal Nizamuddin had called Nadir Shah and the Singhs got their chance. They took over Punjab. Nadir Shah destroyed Delhi (in around 1738). Rohaila Nazeeba Daula, the Vizier of Delhi, called Ahmed Shah to destroy Delhi who fought the Marhathas. Ahmed Shah got tired of fighting and went back. We were busy warding off Ahmed Shah and Nadir Shah. The country fell to the rebellion and the Sikhs gained their kingdom in Punjab. They were looters and criminals who were rebels. They weren’t good people.” The Shah spoke lies about the Singhs. He called them the poor subjects who were rebels. The Shah wanted the English to fight the Singhs so they wouldn’t bother Gauhar Ali. He did not acknowledge the Khalsa Panth. He did not speak of the great glory of the Gurus. He did not speak of the battles between the Gurus and the Shahs. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, as he came and his glory grew, the Shah did not speak of this. He did not speak of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s blessing upon Babar. Gauhar Ali had sin in his mind. He did not speak of the tyranny of the Mughals upon the Hindus; how he attacked the Sikhs and the Gurus. As the Gurus gave their heads but not their Dharma; he did not speak of it. As the conflict grew between the Gurus and the Shahs, he did not speak of it. By the command of the Gurus, the Panth was created. The Chandi was awoken to help the Panth. The Guru sacrificed his sons to Chandi. He sacrificed his own body to Chandi as well. This made the Turks guilty. The Guru earned all this for the Panth. The sinner Gauhar Ali did not say all this to the English. He did not speak of how the innocent, milk-drinking sons of the Guru were decapitated. He did not say this! Bahadhur Shah, the son of Aurangzeb, made Guru ji happy and received the kingdom of Delhi. Guru ji showed his powers. Guru ji defeated the army of Tara Azam to make Bahadhur Shah the emperor. Guru ji then sent the Bandha with his powers to take the rule of Punjab from the Turks. The Tatt Khalsa then came into power. Gauhar Ali did not speak of the Gurus nor the Panth. The many years spent in war by the Singhs, he did not speak of. The Singhs had their limbs cut off by every bend; their scalps taken off from their heads; hung from every village. The Mughals spent their power doing this. The Shah didn’t speak the truth of how Nadir looted Delhi. Nadir Shah killed 70,000 in one day. He stole the Kohinoor Diamond and married the daughter of Gauhar Ali. He looted their honour. He captured 22,000 young girls and wanted to take them back to his homeland. The Singhs looted Nadir on his way home. As he travelled, the Singhs looted all his loot between Kabul and Kandahar. They freed the young girls he had captured. Gauhar Ali did not tell the English this. Then, Ahmed Shah took over Lahore and sat there. He took over Delhi and Agra. The Singhs kicked him out and took him to Kabul. The Soobas of Ahmed Shah Abdali were killed by the Singhs. Tamoor Shah, Abdali’s son, the Singhs took him through the path of the dead. Tamoor declared that his children would never come back to Hindustan (he made it look like he was giving the rule of Punjab to the Singhs. He sent gifts for the Singhs as a way of confirming their allegiance. Bhai Lehna Singh Bhangi sent the gifts back and set him chickpeas instead, declaring their independent rule). Ahmed Shah’s grandson then attacked. The Khalsa fought and defeated him (Ahmed Shah’s grandson sat in the Summan Burj. Maharaj Ranjit Singh was about 17 years old then. Ranjit Singh took 100 Singhs and attacked the Summan Burj. He called out to him: “oh grandson of Ahmed Shah, you are being challenged by the grandson of Charrat Singh. Come out and fight!” The grandson of Abdali did not come out because of fear). The Panth had been fighting from the beginning but the corrupt Shah called the Singhs his own subjects and declared them as thieves. The corrupt cannot let go of corruption as a snake cannot let go of poison. You can feed it milk but it won’t refrain from biting. He did not speak the truth. He lied to the English to make them the enemy of the Sikhs.
The general wrote as Gauhar Ali dictated. Ouchterlony wrote it down but did not understand truth or lie. The Turks and the Hindus were in enmity from the beginning. It was the battle of the Deen and Mazhab. It was a war of the Hindu Dharma and the Deen Islam. If the enemy dies by lies, nobody stops. Since when did the Turks stop from lying about the Hindus? If one dips their arm into oil and puts it in a sack of sesame seeds, that is how many false oaths they could take to kill the Hindus. Their Rasool had told them this. As I, Rattan Singh, have heard the history, that is how I write it. Listen, oh Saints, with your full focus and attention. I will tell you how it happened.
Part 2 The True Sikh History and Purpose of This Granth
The Badshah had said to the Angrez that nobody gave the Sikhs the Raaj: “the are just rebels. The capital was busy dealing with Nadir and Ahmed Shah (attacked more than 11 times. The Vadda Ghullughara happened with the Sikhs on May 5, 1762). The Sikhs rebelled during that time and took over Punjab.” The Angrez wrote it down as they were told: “nobody gave the Singhs the Raj. The Singhs have no authority. No king has ever given them any kingdom.” Ouchterlony wrote the words of Gauhar Ali in his journal. He kept the journal with him and considered the matter closed. He accepted it as the “History of the Sikhs.”
The English discussed among themselves: “if they have no authority, how long can they remain as rebels? If they are nothing but just a bunch of rebels, why don’t we take their kingdom from them? We can take the land from them.” When the Angrez wrote their supposed history, the corrupt Mughals were happy. Why wouldn’t the Turks be happy? Why wouldn’t they speak lies? The Turks and Hindus were at war for many years.
Many years passed, four to be exact; Ranjit Singh established the Sikh Raaj. The kings of Faridkot, Nabha, Patiala, Jind and Kaithal were scolded by Ranjit Singh. These kings then brought the Angrez and came under their protection. They brought the Angrez in 1807 CE to Ludhiana. 1864 Vikram was the time where the Angrez were in Ludhiana and Ranjit Singh’s army went back towards Majha. (Only Akaali Phoola Singh ji kept ties with Ranjit Singh. Baba Phoola Singh ji kept 1300 Nihang Singhs with him to loot the Angrez camps. During Holla Mohalla, the Angrez had a Pastor preach Christianity and give tea to everyone. A Nihang Singh killed the Pastor for preaching Christianity and brought his head to Baba Phoola Singh ji. Raja Patiala was asked to arrest Baba Phoola Singh ji. The Sikh Rajas convinced the English not to arrest him. Ranjit Singh then organized the Holla Mohalla as Anandpur was under the Angrez) The truce happened at Ropar. Ranjit Singh and the Viceroy of the Angrez came to an agreement to establish the boundary at the Sutlej. Either side was not to cross the Sutlej. The Rajas convinced the English to stay. This happened in 1807 CE. Ouchterlony had his written history. He came to Ludhiana and asked about the Singhs again after meeting them. Ouchterlony thought to himself: “what the Badshah told me, I am not sure of its truth anymore.” Ouchterlony had a junior officer named Captain Murray. Murray was known in Punjab. Ouchterlony called for him. He had a meeting with him and said: “find out how the Singhs came to be. How did the Khalsa acquire their kingdom? As the Shah of Delhi said, find out if it was true or not. Find out if he lied about the Singhs. The Hindus and Turks don’t agree on anything. Mussalmans may have lied about the Sikhs. How did the Jatts become kings? How did they rebel? How did the Shahs lose? The Mughals had 22 Soobas. How did they all lose? They also had islands in the ocean. The Chavghutta had the whole Hind. How was this all destroyed? The subjects are lambs and the kings are lions. The Haakams are hawks and the subjects are sparrows. How did the lambs kill the lions? How did the sparrows kill the hawks? This seems to be a miracle of how the subjects defeated the Haakams. Do they have some power or is their leader really strong? The truth needs to be written.” Whatever the Delhi Shah told Ouchterlony, he told Murray. Murray said: “why don’t you trust the Badshah? Send it to the King of London.” Ouchterlony was wise. He said: “Murray, I can’t do that. What if the Badshah lied to us? What then? I will look like a liar. We should think of another thing.” Ouchterlony knew that the Sikhs fought the Mughals: “there was a conflict. The Badshah couldn’t say the truth. If it was the truth, people would agree as well. If the Badshah lied, we can find out then. We need to find the truth. Let’s find an older version of their written history. This will be reassurance. We will then send it to London. It can’t have an ounce of a lie. Find out how the Sikhs took their kingdom and when. Find out where they fought.”
Murray received his orders and made efforts. He called Bota Shah Maulvi who was an historian. He told him to dictate the history of the Sikhs from 100 years ago: “tell me how the Sikhs came to be. Tell me the truth. I will write it down. I won’t write any lies. This will go to the King of London. It will be published in other continents as well. Write it like this.” Bota Shah wrote the history of how the Sikhs were created. I was in that same courthouse that Murray was in (Rattan Singh ji’s grandfather, Baba Shaam Singh ji, had acquired a lot of land during his time and gifted Jageer of the village to Rattan Singh ji’s mother in her dowry. This village of Charri Parri, Khanna was inherited by Rattan Singh ji. The administrative work was done in Ludhiana’s court). When I heard of this situation, I got worried. This Maulvi was a Muslim. Why would he state the glories of the Singhs? I spoke to Murray and convinced him to show me what was written. I read it all and said: “he didn’t speak of the full glory of the Khalsa!” Murray became by friend. He asked for me and said: “tell me how the Khalsa came to be.” I said: “listen Captain Murray, you are trusting a Mussalmaan. The Turks and Hindus have been old enemies. We don’t get along. They have always cheated us. The Hindus slander Turks as well.” Captain Murray said: “we Angrez are smart and wise. We understand truth and false like swans can separate milk and water. You can tell me your truth. We won’t write your lies either. When we Angrez go to other lands, we always write their detailed history and geography. We only write the truth and send it to London. Do tell me this though: how did the Singhs acquire their kingdom? Who gave it to them? Who made them kings? Which king gave them the Raaj?” I said to him: “the Singhs were given the Kingdom by the True King, the Sacha Paatshaah!” Murray said: “who is the Sacha Paatshaah?” I said: “the True King is Shah Nanak ji Guru!” Murray said: “there was a Fakir Nanak. He was a Fakir though. How did he give you the kingdom?” I said: “he is the King of Kings, the Shah of Shahs. He is the Sacha Paatshaah of the whole world! He made many Shahs into Fakirs and many Fakirs into Peers with unlimited powers. He made Fakirs into Badshahs. He remained detached and carefree from it all. In this way, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji was the Shah of Shahs. The Shahs that touched his feet become immensely powerful. They were able to kill hawks from sparrows. He made lambs kill lions. The ones who had Lakhs of horses, thousands of canons and swivel guns, they were dethroned from their riches and rule by the servants of Guru Nanak Dev ji. They were destroyed. The servants of Guru Nanak Dev ji would take the Nugda of the cannabis mixture and smack it into the heads of these kings. The ones who were hit with the ball Nugda of cannabis in the head, they were no longer able to fight anymore. They were destroyed right away. Such was the power of these servants of Guru Nanak Dev ji.” Murray was intrigued by this time. He spoke to me with love and humility: “please tell me how did Guru Nanak Dev ji become the King of Kings? How did he make the Singhs into Kings?” Oh saints, my friends, my brothers, listen: I said to Murray: “listen friend, the Rabb himself called Guru Nanak Dev ji to his court and said to him: “I am making you the King of the world! Nobody will be stronger than you.” Akaal Purakh hugged him and said: “go to the world and be known as “Nanak.” Go to the family of the Bedis. Show the world the righteous path. Show them my Name and how to come to me. They will be saved who come to your sanctuary. The corrupt will be destroyed.” Murray said: “tell me everything! How did Guru Nanak Dev ji get the kingdom, given to him by the Rabb?” What I said to him, oh Khalsa, listen on, oh saints: “there was a lot of thick fog (of hatred and jealousy) in Kaliyuga. The Adharma grew. Sins grew. Dharma was eclipsed. The kings were greedy for wealth. The Rajas were supposed to be just. They threw their Dharma into a dark well. The leaders of the religious Panths that Akaal Purakh had previously sent, their Panths had become spoiled and the people fell off of the path of Dharma. Maya and attachment enticed them all. Maya cheated them all. Dharma was lost. Everyone left their Dharam and began to gather personal wealth for their own families.
Sri Mukhvaak Salok M:1..
In Kaliyuga, Kaliyuga became a Kaati sword and the Rajas became butchers. Dharma took on wings and flew away. The false became the Amaavas (no moon night), blinding the moon of truth. The moon could no longer be seen.
Part 3 Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Avataar/ Childhood and Wedding
Murry asked me: “tell me everything! In which year, time and Desh did he come?”
Rattan Singh Bach: It was 1526 Vikram in Talwandi Bhullar Bhoi Rai where he came. It was the area of Kasur and Lahore. He was born to the Kshatriya caste. The Parmeshwar took an Avatar in the home of the Bedis. The family adhered to the Dharam a lot in which Guru Nanak Dev ji was born. The form that Parmeshwar took on in Satyuga, it was Narsingh. In Treta, when the right time came, he came as Ram. In Dwapur he was born as Krishan in the auspicious time. In the same way, Parmeshwar took an Avatar in the great family as Guru Nanak Dev ji. His father was Pitha Kalu Das ji. His mother was Mata Tripta ji, who was completely content. They were very strong in Dharam, although not having a lot of wealth. They had been great Tapasvis in their previous births. Some of the Dharam had come from the great family but when the Parmeshwar took a birth in that family, the radiance of the family grew many folds. It was the auspicious time and Nakshatra when he was born. It was the blessed constellation, home, time and place. The radiance of the parents grew as soon as the Parmeshwar was born. The earth illuminated Ridhis, Siddhis and 9 Niddhis by itself to the home and family. When they were going to bury the placenta and afterbirth, when they dug the earth, they found a lot of treasure. They found a pot of golden coins. The parents were really happy. They called Pandit Hardyal ji to ask him of the qualities of their new child. Pandit ji made the Teva and was really happy in his heart when he read it. He already read Ved Vyaas’s Bavish Puraan and knew that the Parmeshwar was going to be born in Kaliyuga. Pandit ji kept looking at the child’s face and smiled slightly. Pandit ji wrote the Teva and told the parents: “respect him greatly! This is a complete and omnipotent being! This is the Nehkalank Parmeshwar himself who came. His radiance will be the greatest!” Pandit ji took the letter Nana as the Nehkalank Avatar was to also come in Kaliyuga. He calculated and analysed the Teva and said the name “Nanak.” He said: “whoever does his Darshan, they will be in bliss and become attached to him.” Pandit ji kept looking at Guru Nanak Dev ji. He was not satiated looking at Guru ji’s face. Pandit ji came to see Guru ji in his home many times.
People talked and discussed who may this new child be. Some said he may be a Sidh or an Avatar. Some said he may be a great king or an emperor. The rich said: “we should give him money!” The poor said: “let’s do his Seva so we can be rich.” Some said: “let’s do his Seva to make him happy.” The people did prayers to him. Their wishes were fulfilled. As Satguru ji’s power illuminated, people came to see him. He would answer people’s question, what were in their minds. He would speak of the Veds and Shastras. Baba Kalu ji saw him as his son and not as the Parmeshwar. He wanted to make him work. Guru ji did not disobey. He would go wherever he was sent. He chanted Satnam from his mouth. He always spoke of the Karta Purakh. He gave this wisdom to his child friends. He made them chant Sat Kartar. He gave Mardana a stringed instrument to play as he sang with all of the kids. If I write the Katha of his childhood then this Granth would become really big. There is no end to his Katha. I will summarize everything. I only write a little but will tell you the important things. He played with kids; ruined the fields and made them green again. Rai Balwand saw the Baba with a cobra giving shade to the Baba with his hood. Many other Kathas about his power; some Rai Bhullar heard and some he saw; his heart was faithful to Guru ji Nanak Dev ji. He respected Guru ji and called him to his home. Guru ji blessed Rai Bhullar ji with a son. His son became Guru ji’s Sikh. Guru ji could play anywhere he wished to. Rai Bhullar made sure there were no restrictions on him.
Rai Bhullar was radiant because of Guru ji, like iron touching the Paaras and becoming gold. I told Murray all of these Sakhis. The child of Rai Bhullar became the Vizier of Delhi. When Guru ji was older, he was sent to the Panday to be educated. Panda Gopal ji tried to educate Guru ji but Guru ji educated the Panda instead. I told Murray the whole Sakhi. I told him about the other miracles of Guru Nanak Dev ji. If I write everything, the Granth will become big. Baba ji then got married. He had two sons: Baba Sri Chand ji and Baba Lakhmi Chand ji. Pitha Kalu ji wanted Guru ji to work: “earn and save your money for your future.” Baba ji did not follow that path. His parents were upset about this. Baba ji was without any attachment or worry. He grabbed the Rabab and spoke the Shabads with Baba Mardana ji. He was happy with the company of Baba Mardana ji. He had no claim of giving or taking with the world.
Part 4 Modi Khana and Going into the Vein River
The brother-in-law, Bhaya Jai Ram ji, heard of the carefree nature of Guru Nanak Dev ji (from Rai Bhullar ji). He was from Sultanpur and the Vizier of Daulat Khan. Daulat Khan was the Navaab/Sooba of Punjab. Bhaya Jai Ram ji brought Guru Nanak Dev ji to Sultanpur and introduced him to Daulat Khan. Daulat Khan gave the charge of the Modi Khanna to Guru ji. The Katha is very long. Guru ji spent 20 years there. The Granth would get really big. See the Janamsakhi for that Katha, whoever wishes to read it. Other Granths also have stated it. I have only stated the summary. Murray, I will tell you little. Baba ji was detached from wealth and the world. He became Udaas, above the world. He did not give his attention to the world. He would go and bathe at the Vein River everyday. One servant would hold his clothes while he bathed. One day, he went to bathe and took a dip in the river. Guru ji did not come out after a few hours. The servant got worried, not seeing Guru ji come out. The servant got anxious and began to yell: “he drowned!” Daulat Khan and the others heard this and ran to the river. Everyone loved him and were concerned for him. They casted nets into the river but did not recover Guru ji’s body. Guru ji’s body was not there. He had gone to Sach Khand to visit the Parameshwar. People said: “his body may have flowed away.” They went across the river to search for Guru ji in the fields. His shadow was not even found. People said: “he drowned.” Bhaya Jai Ram ji’s home was filled with cries. [Bebe Nanaki ji was not upset though. She knew that her brother was Parmeshwar and did not drown] Daulat Khan was upset and cried. He was very worried.
For 2 days they all searched. On the third day, Guru ji came back. He wore a Dhoti around his waste and a Parna on his shoulder. He did not speak to anyone. He stood there, still as a scarecrow in the field. He was intoxicated in the bliss of Akaal Purakh as he had been in his presence. People heard and ran to see Guru Nanak Dev ji. They all surrounded Guru ji and asked him how he was, concerned and relieved at the same time. Bhaya Jai Ram ji heard and ran to Guru ji. Daulat Khan was surprised and came. Daulat Khan came and brought Guru ji with him. Guru ji did not speak. Daulat Khan called a Hakeem to see him. Guru ji didn’t speak so he thought Guru ji was sick. Guru ji spoke to the Hakeem and gave him Brahmgyaan. Daulat Khan was convinced that Guru ji was not sick nor mad. The Mullah Qazis were jealous of Guru ji. They said: “he does magic and shows us illusions.” Daulat Khan did not believe them. He had faith in Guru ji. He said: “he is the complete Purakh who is an Avatar.” Daulat Khan and his whole family became Guru Nanak Dev ji’s Mureeds. Guru ji saw Hindus and Turks as the same. Whoever came to Guru ji became his Mureed. Guru ji showed the truth to both. He stopped both from doing sins. As Guru ji’s praises spread, people from far away lands came to see him.
Daulat Khan was getting old. He had two wives but no children. They all did Guru ji’s Seva. Both wives gave birth to two lion-like sons, each. The two wives of Daulat Khan bowed to Guru ji. Guru ji gave 2 Bers each to the two women. He told them: “you will both have two sons each. Name them Ghazi Khan, Ghajmast Kham, Mir Khan and Jaul Khan.” When the sons were born, the women spread the news of Guru ji’s blessings: “the Baba gave us two sons each!” Guru ji wanted to stay hidden in the world. He was getting famous. People began to follow him around. With the sun comes up, it can’t be hidden even by Lakhs of clouds. As Guru ji’s praises spread, it spread in a few days. Whoever was pressed by cold, why wouldn’t they go towards the fire? People were in pain. They received the Sukhmani by Guru ji’s Darshan. Sidhs, Sadhoos, Hindus and Turks; whoever had a little power; they all heard Guru ji’s greatness and came to do his Darshan. They all debated and used their powers but lost in front of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Guru ji gave powers to the powerful and Gyaan to the Gyaanis. Whatever wish someone came with, Guru ji gave it to them. Guru ji explained the truth to them at their level.
Part 5 Udaasi and Sidh Gosht
Baba ji was detached from the world. He decided to go for an Udaasi. He thought of visiting foreign lands. He took Baba Mardana ji and travelled. Baba Mardana ji picked up his Rabab on his shoulder. Wherever Baba ji was happy, he had Baba Mardana ji play the Rabab. Baba ji started singing Shabads there. Sidhs, Sadhoos, Peers and Mureeds came and bowed. Wherever Guru ji went, he blessed them all and travelled on. Whichever land he went to, he gave them the wisdom of the Satnam. Peers, Pagambhers, Devis and Devatas; he had their Sevas stopped. He taught people to worship the creator and not the creation. Birs, Sidhs, Mantras and Tantras along with Jantras; people came out of their controls. Gugo, Bhoots and Prayts; Guru ji stopped people from following them. He went to the lands of Turks and Hindus. He told them to not take anyone else’s right. It was like the Hindu eating a cow and a Turk eating a pig when someone else’s right was taken away. He told the truth to all. He made both follow the righteous path. The Koran of the Turks and the Veds of the Hindus; he spoke of them and showed them the correct meanings.
Once, Baba ji went to Achal (Vatala). There was a Mela there with the Sidhs attending. Guru ji had a discussion with them and won. The Sidhs used their powers and got tired. The Sidhs were upset and went to Baal Gundhai. The Sidhs lost and slandered Guru ji: “Nanak is a new Sidh that has been born. He took our honour and left.” The Sidhs came into ego and said: “if he comes here, he will lose.” Baba ji heard this and came to Baal Gundhai. He defeated them and travelled on.
Farid Pattan was in Multan. Baba ji went there and to Uch, where the Peers of Uch were. Guru ji had discussions with them all. None of the Peers were able to use their powers. How many can I speak of? Guru ji went where he heard of Sidhs. He showed them their Siddhis and made their false go away. He put them on the righteous way. He travelled the whole of Punjab and made the people pure. Whoever came to his sanctuary, he made them construct beautiful Dharamsalas. He made them all follow the Dharam. This is their history but I did not fully write it. Whoever wishes to read about these Sakhis, they can read the Puratan Janamsakhis.
