1-41 The Battle Between Bahadhur Shah and Tara Azam

Bahadhur Shah gathered whatever army he could.  He enlisted the soldiers and gave them gifts, money and weapons for encouragement.  He gave them clothes and jewellery to make them his own.  He said: “as we go ahead, your salary will be raised once we are victorious.  You will get statuses.”  He inspired the Umraavs.  Misls were made and generals were posted.  Bullets and gunpowder were distributed.  The canons were prepared.  Many elephants and horses with foot soldiers set off.  The whole army was organized.  They stayed on the outskirts of Delhi.  He thought: “I will fight first and then take over Delhi.”  The camels had the camel-hide Nagaras.  They were played.  The Daunsas and Narsinghas were sounded.  He travelled along the Chambal River.  He wanted to take the shores.  He thought: “I fill fight him there so he doesn’t come to Delhi.”

Tara Azam was the Shah.  He sat on the Takhat among the Umraavs.  He organized the 2.2 million soldiers, 10,000 canons and 50,000 swivel guns.  He gave gifts to his soldiers and officers.  He conquered the Dakhan Desh.  He made sure his command was over all.  He heard about his own brother, Bahadhur Shah, coming to fight him.  He was filled with anger and pride.  He analysed his army and told his Umraavs to get ready.  Elephants and horses were prepared.  Tara Azam mounted his ride with Nagaras being played.  He left Dakhan and travelled to where he heard his brother was.  He crossed many villages and cities on the way.  The army was too big.  Wherever they went, the water would finish.  The village was ruined where they went.  Shah Bahadhur heard the news of his brother’s arrival.  He had a big doubt in his mind: “he has ten times the army I have.  He has canons and guns.  My army is very less.  I have a deep trust on the words of the Guru.  There is no other solution.  I only have the hope of the One Allah.  Khuddah assists the less.  This is the determination I have.”

Satguru ji was on his way.  He headed towards Delhi.  The whole Khalsa army was with him.  As people heard of his glory on the way, they would come to meet him.  He would give them his Darshan and bless them.  He completed their wishes.  The two sons of the Shah started to fight near the Chambal.  The Nagaras played from both sides.  The Ransinghas sounded loud.  The armies charged at each other.  The canons fired.  Many guns fired.  The sky was filled with smoke.  Nobody could see their own hand.  The Swivel guns fired.  Metal rained from both sides.  It was like the sky ripped and fell to the ground.  The noise was really loud and scary.  They all yelled: “kill them!”  The battle raged on for the whole day.  Many warriors and horses were killed.  The sun soon set and the battle came to an end for the day.

The warriors went to their camps to eat and rest.  The soldiers were satiated.  Some stayed awake to keep guard.  Some slept.  They woke up the next day and bathed.  They got ready to fight.  The bullets and cannonballs fired.  The horses ran while the bullets fired.  The arrows blasted the limbs.  The spears with pompoms were used.  The soldiers fought each other.  The smoke was blinding.  The camel guns and horse guns were fired.  The second day came to an end as well.  The armies went to their camps to rest.  In the morning, the Nagaras sounded again.  The soldiers heard this and got ready.  The armies fought from both sides.  The charges occurred with weapons.  The soldiers charged the enemy.  Tara Azam’s army was huge.  They charged.  Tara Azam came to fight.  Bahadhur Shah came to fight as well.  Tara Azam came to the field.  Both brothers inspired their armies to fight.  The canons and rifles fired.  Bahadhur Rai was on an elephant.  He had Bhai Dharam Singh ji sit with him.  Bhai Dharam Singh ji spoke of Guru ji’s glorious battles to Bahadhur Shah.  They saw the battle that was happening for miles.  Both sides charged hard.  The warriors fought each other.  Bahadhur Shah thought to himself: “we will fight.  When we win, I wonder what task Guru ji will ask me to do.  If the task is too difficult and I can’t do it, what then?  If it is easy, I will do it; otherwise, I will make excuses if he asks.”  He saw his victory and began thinking deceptively.  When he thought like this, Tara Azam’s army charged and Bahadhur Shah’s army retreated.  Bahadhur Shah had to move back.  His soldiers ran away losing their courage.  They couldn’t fight the army of Tara Azam’s army.  This happened because he began to think of deceiving Guru ji.  It was evening and Bahadhur Shah came back to his camp.  He was really worried in his heart, seeing the trouble in the battle.  He was worried.  He called Bhai Nand Lal ji and said: “go to Guru ji, quickly.  Go and bow to his Lotus feet from me.  Tell him about me.  Tell him: my father ruined his relationship with you.  He is guilty for being your enemy.  I am your servant though.  I have a lot of faith on your words.  I came to battle because of your words.  Otherwise, I couldn’t do anything.  What was I?  What could I do?  I was going to run away and live in peace to eat in joy.  I came to fight because you told me to.  I came here and am in the mouth of death.  You haven’t come to help me yet.  Till my brother doesn’t die, I can’t win.  His army is ten times bigger.  How will his army be destroyed?  How will we destroy it?  Think about our strength and weaknesses in your mind.  I only obeyed your words.  Don’t think of anything else.  Why aren’t you coming to help me?  I have no support of anyone else.  Don’t see me as a guilty person for what my father did.  I am in your protection.  Please protect me by your promise.”  Bhai Nand Lal ji left.

Bhai Nand Lal ji came to Guru ji, quickly.  He did his Darshan and bowed.  He told him everything: “Shah Bahadhur is upset and worried.  He needs your help.  He wishes for it.  Bless him with victory.”  Satguru ji heard this and said: “when he set out for battle, he thought to himself: “if Guru ji gives me a difficult task, I will make an excuse.  I will do his task if it will be easy.”  This is why he lost today.  His faith waivered.  He lost his determination.  If he makes his mind solid and loses his deception, I will help him and destroy his enemy.  I don’t trust him anymore.  He will change his mind for doing my task.  Otherwise, I want him to write it now: “I will complete one task of yours.”  Tell him to send his Mamma to bring the letter.  Tell him to sign the letter.  Then he will be assisted by the Guru.  He will get the Sultanate and his enemy will die.  I will kill Tara Azam and make him sit on the Takhat.  Bahadhur Shah will be the Badshah.  I will make him do my task after all this.  This is why the delay happened.  Otherwise he would have won today.”  Bhai Nand Lal ji folded his hands and bowed.  He said: “Sri Prabhoo ji, you are omnipresent.  You are everywhere.  You are omniscient and know every heart.  Why wouldn’t you know of his deception.  I will interrogate him properly.  I will destroy his doubt.”  Bhai Nand Lal ji went back to Bahadhur Shah.  He came to him quickly and said: “while fighting, you thought of something.  You didn’t want to fulfill Guru ji’s difficult task.  Prabhoo ji sensed this.  He already knew of this.  Now, Guru ji wants you to write a note promise.  Send your Mamma with me to give the letter to Guru ji.  Have the letter given to him.  You will win then.”  The Shah was amazed to hear this.  He saw Guru ji as omnipotent and omniscient.  He thought to himself: “he knew what I was thinking.  He will help me now.  I will have to write a note.”  He wrote with his own hand: “I will complete your one task.”  He sent Hakam Rai and his own Mamma with the signed note.  He said: “tell him to forgive me.  I made a mistake.  I am your servant.”  They left on their chariots quickly.

The people came to Guru ji and bowed to his feet.  They said: “forgive the mistake.  This is your way.  He has stamped the letter.  There is no doubt now.  See him as your servant and help him.  Give him victory and the Sultanate.”  Guru ji saw the humility and fulfilled his promise.  He gave them hope and said: “go now and tell Bahadhur Shah to fight with bravery.  I will give him my Darshan on the battlefield.  I will kill Tara Azam.  I will kill some of his Umraavs.  When you see the signs, you can become fearless and stop fighting.  You can go back.  Go now and make them fight with motivation.  Consider Tara Azam as good as dead.  Fight without fear and worry.  Don’t be cowards.  Fight like warriors.  Fight with eagerness.”  The men heard Guru ji’s good words and bowed to go back.  They gave the signed letter to Guru ji and came back, quickly.  They came back to the Chambal shore.  They met the Shah and told him: “you can get rid of all the doubts of yesterday.  Battle with force now.  The Guru’s words cannot be false.  You now know this very well.”

1-42 Bahadhur Shah’s Victory and Achieving the Crown

Making all of the preparation and having discussions about the battle the night before; the Nagaras sounded in the morning.  The canons fired.  The two armies collided.  The Shutri Nagaras were played.  The Pattas were played.  The horns and conches were played.  Maaroo Raag played.  The soldiers fired their bullets with anger.  The soldiers yelled as they attacked.  The dust flying was blinding to the eyes.  The smoke covered the sky.  The dust covered everything.  The bullets and the arrows were fired.  The spears were used.  The soldiers charged on each other, over and over again.  Tara Azam came with anger.  He inspired his army: “oh Umraavs, what happened to you?  You sit in my court with pride and speak highly of yourselves.  You have gained many statuses from me.  You have damned my salt!  You are of no use to me.  Look, the enemy is so few compared to us.  They are fighting at your level.  We have such a huge army but we aren’t able to complete this small task.  Do you love your Pranas or have you taken sides with Bahadhur Shah?  These people are less but you can’t face them.”  He scolded all of his officers and sent his people forward.  This is what happened to him.  He motivated his army to fight.  The Umraavs had the sudden wish to charge on ahead.  The Naqeebs wandered the field and announced the name of the officers attacking.  It was like a tsunami in the ocean, bringing water and creatures in the ocean to the front.  The horses looked like crocodiles and the elephants looked like whales.  When the rifles fired, they looked like the Barwa fire in the ocean.  The swords looked like the small fish, suffering.  The thousands of foot soldiers were the creatures.  It was like the ocean came as a tidal wave, leaving its shores.  The army spread out far.  The big canons and swivel canons fired.  The guns all fired the cannonballs, sounding scary.  The rifles fired like popcorns popping.  Many cannonballs killed the soldiers.  Bahadhur Shah’s army got pushed back.  He got scared when his army suffered blows.

Bhai Dharam Singh ji was sitting with Bahadhur Shah on the seat of the elephant.  Bahadhur Shah spoke of Guru ji: “I trust Prabhoo ji’s words.  I fight by his faith and hope to rule; otherwise, I don’t have enough army.  My brother is way stronger.  He has the whole charge of the kingdom.  He has the army.  I fought him but Satguru ji hasn’t come to help me yet.  I hope it wasn’t just motivation to have me killed in battle.  I hope he’s not trying to get my killed for my father’s guilt.  Is that why he is not coming yet?  Please fold your hands and do Ardaas: “come Guru.  See me as your servant.”  Bhai Dharam Singh ji gave him hope: “be alert and don’t get scared.  When the fight gets fierce, Satguru ji will assist you right away.  He never cheats his servants.  He will make you win the battle by any means.”  The Shah said: “now is the time I need his help; otherwise, my camp will be looted.  Look how fierce the battle has become.  The army has come like clouds and Tara Azam stands in the middle.  He got angry at his Umraavs to push them.  How can my army withstand this?  They are like salt in the flour.  If my army retreats, there is no other solution to this.  Do Ardaas with your hands folded for Prabhoo ji to come and use his strength.  Come and kill Tara Azam.  I want the Umraavs to lose.”  Bhai Dharam Singh ji did the Ardaas: “Sri Guru ji, it is the time to help now.  Come and assist your servant.  See him as your servant and come to protect his honour.  Fulfill your promise.”  They both bowed their heads.  The Shah was really worried.  He looked around everywhere for Guru ji.  The enemy kept coming closer.  Slowly, Bahadhur Shah’s army moved backwards.  His doubt got deeper.  He was determined: “I will not survive today.  The battle is fierce.  I will die today.  I only had the one hope of Satguru ji to come and keep my honour.”  He kept thinking of Guru ji in his mind.  He bowed many times.  His enemy was losing.  They were about to run, seeing the enemy.  They were losing patience.

All of a sudden, through the chaos of the battle; Satguru ji came with his army of Shaheeds.  Huge battle standards of Blue Nishans came running through the battlefield.  There were thousands of Shaheed Singhs.  The Farlas were waving in the air.  They were huge!  All at once, the Shaheeds attacked like hawks.  Bhai Dharam Singh ji saw this and yelled in great astonishment, seeing Guru ji’s radiant form and the huge army of Shaheeds: “Look Shah!  There he is!  Don’t be in doubt now!  Do his Darshan and bow to him with your hands folded.  Bow to the army of Shaheeds with him.  Look!  He is holding his bow and arrow in his hand!  He will show his power and strength on the field.”  When Bahadhur Shah saw Guru ji, he was amazed beyond description.  It was like Amrit in his ears, saving him from being killed.  Bahadhur Shah did the Darshan of the great and determined warrior, Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.  Guru ji had the arrow mounted on his bow.  He wanted to kill the enemy with bravery.  He pulled his arrow to his ear.  The other hand was aiming at the enemy.  His horse was making small jumps.  His horse advanced towards Tara Azam.  Bahadhur Shah saw him once, like a flash of lightening in the clouds.  Guru Gobind Singh ji came to where the battle was fierce, where many bullets and canons were firing; where the blinding smoke was.  The sun was covered.  Nothing could be seen.  There were loud noises that were deafening to the ear, from both sides.  Nobody could hear their own words.  The armies were spread for many Kos.  They all wanted to win.  Many elephants were standing like clouds in a line.  They were the Umraavs who sat on top of the elephants, watching the battle.  They held weapons.  The warriors rained their arrows.  Tara Azam was in the middle of the parade of elephants.  The Umraavs all loved Tara Azam and trusted him.  Satguru ji went with the Shaheeds and came to Tara Azam.  Satguru ji fired once but two arrows left his bow.  They flew really fast, making hissing noises in the air as they flew.  They were sharp.  They were like flying snakes.  They were 4 fingers thick from the tip.  They hit Tara Azam in the forehead.  It was like a snake going into its burrow.  The end of the arrows remained sticking out.  The two tips were out the other end.  They looked like two branches of pomegranate blossoms or two faces of Sarika.  Tara Azam fell from his elephant, right away.  He fell to the ground.  The enemy was defeated.  Tara Azam died, who wished to win.  He was killed by the Satguru and so he died a true warrior’s death.  He was a Vir and went to Bahist.  The 14 Umraavs, sitting on their elephants, they all fell as well.  The Shaheeds struck them with their weapons.  They went to Bahist as well.  Hundreds of warriors all fell all at once.  They were all killed.  The army of Tara Azam was in chaos.  They all knew that Tara Azam had died.  The Umraavs that survived, they all retreated.  Slowly, everyone retreated.  They all went quiet and got off their horses.  The all sent their messengers to give Bahadhur Shah their message: “Tara Azam has fallen in battle.  We don’t know how he was killed.”  Bahadhur Shah was happy to hear this.  He called the whole army.  The whole army of Tara Azam all came and bowed their heads.

Bahadhur Shah went to look for his brother’s body.  He went where he had fallen.  He saw the two arrows through his brother’s head.  The front of the arrow had gold near the head of the arrow.  He took the arrows and kept them with him.  He wanted to test who they belonged to.  He buried his brother’s body and was happy.  It was like a beggar becoming Inder.  The whole army came to meet him.  He gave them all hope and gave them the same statuses as they had before.  He made them his own employees by giving them gifts and statuses.  His brother’s Umraavs were given their regiments as they had before.  He set up the Dhera on the battlefield.  He praised Allah: “I thank you in your court!  You saw my humility and made me the King.”  He respected Bhai Dharam Singh ji and had him sit close to him.  He said to him: “the Guru is great!  He fulfilled his words and made me the Emperor.”  The Umraavs were called.  His whole court was presented.  He showed everyone the two arrows and said: “from whose quiver are these two arrows from?”  They all spoke with pride: “these are from my hands!”  Others said: “I shot these.”  Another said: “I shot them.”  Bahadhur Shah compared the arrows with others’ arrows.  None matched.  The Shah knew everything but didn’t say anything, fearing the Turks (ideology).  He said: “these arrows are unique.  Nobody has these arrows in their quivers.”  Some then spoke: “Farishtas came to help you.  A holy army came and killed the enemy.  It was the radiance of the greatness of Khuddah that illuminated.”  Everyone heard this and were amazed.  To achieve the Sultanate, Bahadhur Shah was really happy.  There was peace everywhere.  The chaos was destroyed.  This made Bahadhur Shah very happy.

1-43 Going to Delhi and Having Mata Sundri ji Stay

Bahadhur Shah spent many days figuring out his administrative tasks and gathering everything after the battle.  After some days, Bahadhur Shah called Bhai Dharam Singh ji to him and spoke to him with respect: “I will now go to Agra and gather the whole army.  I will sit there and perform all the necessary tasks of giving and taking.  I need to send all of the Soobas to their places.  You should go to Satguru ji and tell him about the victory we had.  Bow to his feet for me and request him to come to Delhi.  Ask him to see me as his own and give me his Darshan.  Go without delay.”  Bahadhur Shah gave Siropas and gifts to the 5 Singhs and Bhai Dharam Singh ji.  They all departed to go towards Guru ji.

Guru ji headed towards Delhi.  Bhai Dharam Singh ji and the Singhs met Guru ji on the path to Delhi and bowed to his feet.  They sat in front of Guru ji and folded their hands.  Guru ji looked at the Singhs with blessings and said: “as the battle for the Sultanate happened, tell me about the victory and loss.”  Bhai Dharam Singh ji heard this and said: “you know everything, of what happens in this world.  Whatever is revealed or hidden, you know it all.  Prabhoo ji, nothing is hidden from you.  You are the doer of all characters.  You do Karma but are detached from them.  You commanded me so I will tell you what happened.  The armies of both sides collided.  Canons and guns fired.  We could see who was losing and winning.  When Bahadhur Shah became humble, he cried for your help.  We saw you on the battlefield.  We saw you kill Tara Azam.  The Nagara of victory played right after that.  All of the Soobas came to meet Bahadhur Shah.  Bahadhur Shah received the Sultanate.  He then gave us leave once he gained power.  He sang a lot of your praises.  He bows to your feet.  He is going to Agra and wants you to give him your Darshan.”  Guru ji heard this and then headed towards Delhi.

They passed many villages and cities on the way.  Guru ji crossed them all.  As the people of Delhi found out that Satguru ji was close, the Sikhs became eager to see Guru ji.  They all came forward to receive Guru ji.  Some came on carts and some came on chariots, making them run.  Some came on horses and some just walked on foot with love.  They brought many gifts.  They met Guru ji on the way.  They did his Darshan with love and faith.  They placed their heads on Guru ji’s lotus feet.  They brought clothes and gold.  They gave thousands of Rajitpuns.  Guru ji fulfilled all their wishes.  He blessed them all with his sight.  Guru ji set up the Dhera on the other side of the Yamana and held a Divaan.  Many people of the city came and went.  Many men and women came.  They were a sacrifice unto Guru ji’s handsome form.

After Guru ji stayed for a day, many Sikhs came with their hands folded.  They bowed and sat in front of Guru ji.  They were all blessed by Guru ji.  Guru ji commanded them: “show Delhi to me.  I wish to see the Qilas and the Bazaars along with everything else.  I heard they are very beautiful.”  The Sikhs discussed among themselves: “this is a problem for us.  Guru ji fought and killed thousands of Syeds, Pathaans and Mughals.  The sons, brothers and nephews of the killed all live in Delhi.  Their relatives all live in Delhi.  Their family members were killed by Guru ji.  They will see Guru ji and get angry.  They may attack with their weapons.  Aurangzeb has died and his son does not have full command yet.  These people of Delhi may not be afraid.  They may kill or be killed.  If the battle happens, who will stop them?  Let’s take Guru ji on a boat and travel the Yamuna.  We can show him the homes and markets along the shores of the Yamuna.  We will show them the great city like this.  Let’s not take him to the city or the Bazaars.”  The people of Delhi made this decision.  They called for a big boat.  Many other boats were called for.  They boarded Satguru ji on the boat.  The boats sailed slowly.  When they came close to the city, they gave binoculars to Guru ji to see the city.  They spoke about the different places of Delhi: “Sri Satguru ji, that is the Bazaar.  It goes to the Lal Qila.  There is Jama Masjid that can be seen as well.  The city is beautiful, like the city of the Devatas.  The Lal Qila is made of red rock.  A lot of money was spent to make it.  Many Badshahs have lived there.  Many artworks have been done inside.  Beautiful art is in the Qila.”  They showed Guru ji all this.  The boat sailed slowly.  They came and docked at Moti Bagh.  Guru ji got off there.  Many people came there to meet Guru ji.  Everyone did Guru ji’s Darshan.  Guru ji saw the garden of Moti Bagh.  After seeing the garden, Guru ji boarded the ship again and came back to his Dhera.  Satguru ji then said to the Sikhs: “you wished to deceive me.  I have seen the Sikhi path of Delhi like gold plating done on top of a lesser valued metal.”  The night came.

The following morning, the Sangat came and did his Darshan.  They bowed and sat down.  Many Sikhs came.  Sri Guru ji spoke: “where the 9th Satguru was cremated, show me that place.  Before, you were afraid of Auranga.  He is no longer alive.  Now, make a Mandir there.”  The wise Sikhs heard this and went to the place and showed Guru ji where Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara ji cremated Guru ji’s body.  The Sikhs knew where it was.  A Mandir was then planned to be built there.  Sri Prabhoo ji gave a lot of money for the place.  The Sikhs obeyed and made a huge Darbar there.  All men and women came and did the Pooja there.  Their wishes were all fulfilled at Gurduara Rakab Ganj Sahib.  Guru ji did these great tasks and wished to go on ahead.

The Sikh Sangat all came to meet Guru ji.  They requested Prabhoo ji: “as we do your Darshan, please leave somebody like that in Delhi.  There is no other city like this.  If you establish someone like that here, the Sikhi will spread in Delhi.  Leave somebody here who we can do Pooja of.”  Satguru ji heard this and began to think.  Guru ji’s both wives were with him.  He said to them: “as you would be in peace and joy here, I have to go far to the Dakhan.  If you go with me, it will be a hard journey.  Stay in Delhi, permanently.  Live with the Sikh Sangat and preach Sikhi.  It will be hard to travel to the Dakhan.  Living here will be joyful.”  Mata Sundri ji heard this and began to cry a lot.  She still felt the pain of losing her son.  Many times, her eyes watered.  She said to her husband: “you are omnipotent and the mine of virtues.  You fulfill the wishes of your Sikhs.  I am in pain.  I live with you.  I had one son who died.  With whose support shall I live by with?  I will be alone here, separated form you.  We had a huge family before.  There were 4 sons who were handsome.  I lived with my mother-in-law in joy.  I had all the joy I wanted.  I had no pain, whatsoever.  Wherever I looked, my eyes were in joy and serene.  I was in bliss seeing everyone.  I am unfortunate as I have lost everything.  I only long for your Darshan.  I love your Darshan.  You wish to separate from me now.  What will be my state?  You are omnipotent.  You can do everything you wish.  If you have compassion for me then please reveal my son to me.  I can look at him and be at peace.  I will live here with patience.  I can think of you and do your Simran all the time.  When I think of my son’s face, I am in deep pain.  The only thing left for me is to die.  I am already in so much pain.  What will become of me being away from you?  How will I live?  Who will be the reason for me to live on?  You are the Guru of the world and my husband.  This is my state.  Show me the face of my son.  Do what it takes to fulfill my wish.  You fulfill the wishes of Lakhs.  This is my biggest wish.  I will then obey you with joy.  I can live in this city, away from you then.”  Mata ji said this and cried a lot.  She was humble and in sorrow.  She thought of her son’s form, day and night.  Every day passed like a year for her.

1-44 Wisdom for Mata ji/ Adoptive Son

Mata Sundri ji was humble and patient.  She was Pativrata.  She spoke of her pain, of losing her son.  Sri Satguru ji heard her words and spoke sweet words to give her hope and joy: “oh wise woman, listen, this whole world, the people you see with different names, the rivers, the mountains; they are all going to die one day.  What existed in the past, they will not last in the future.  The ones who established their Dharma and died for it; they are blessed as they crossed this world ocean with success.  This was the true task to receive the human body.  It is like a ship to sail across and take many along with you.  The Dharma of your son was the Kshatriya Dharma.  He followed it truly.  He followed it successfully.  He made thousands of enemy fall on the battlefield and then died himself, while fighting like a true warrior.  He went to Sach Khand where he enjoys all of the joys.  The Vedas and Puranas are a witness to this.  If one was to have the following joys: be 16 years old; have all their wishes fulfilled; be the Chakravarti Raja of the world; to be able to command without opposition; to not have any failed tasks; to be able to enjoy different beautiful women, everyday; all of these joys of this world are but a meagre grain of sand compared to the bliss your son has received.  Your son is in the unending bliss status.  Understand this without a doubt, oh wise one.  Don’t have sorrow in your pure heart.  Have the wish to live in this city.  In your heart, focus on me everyday.  I will give you my Darshan to give you joy, when you think of me.  Spend out the Paralabadh of your body and then come to me in Sach Khand.  Don’t behave like other regular women.  Enjoy the rewards of my Sangat.  Bless the Sikhs.  Live in Delhi with joy.  If you have any other wish, I will complete it for you.  The Sangat will obey your command.  The Sikhs will all come and do your Seva.  In Sri Amritsar and the other places of the Gurus, where the Masands are, they will all bring the Dasvands to you.  They will stay in their places.  If you live here then the traditions will be maintained in the same way.  The transactions of the Guru’s home will be with you.  They will continue with you.  Understand this: the drama of the world is like smoke.  There is no hope for it to stay forever.  It is like the river that constantly flows.  When you look at it, it looks full all the time.”  In this way, Prabhoo ji gave her wisdom.  Mata Sundri ji was still shedding tears.

There was a Suniyara (goldsmith) Sikh that stayed with Guru ji.  He asked for a son from Guru ji, many times.  After some time, he came with Prabhoo ji to the jungle.  A woman had left a baby there.  When Guru ji saw the baby, he said to the Suniyara Sikh: “you asked for a son.  Look, you receive it now.  Raise him and give him love.  Your wish is fulfilled.”  The Sikh folded his hands and said: “I don’t want a son to just raise it.  From which woman’s breasts shall this baby drink the milk?  That’s the only way it will survive.  It will then have food.  Give me a solution for him.”  Guru ji heard this and said: “take water and say Vahiguru.  Wash your wife’s breasts with the water.  When you put this baby in her lap, she will begin to lactate.  The milk will come into her breasts.  In this way, the baby will be raised.  Without a doubt, he will grow up.”  The Sikh obeyed and picked up the baby with his two hands.  He washed the baby and gave it to his wife.  He told her Guru ji’s words.  The Sikhni took the baby with joy.  She washed her breasts as was instructed by Guru ji.  She began to lactate and fed the baby with love.  The baby lived on and was raised.  The couple saw the child as their own son.

When the child was 5 years old, Mata Sundri ji saw him, while their stay in Delhi with Guru ji.  She was amazed to see that the child looked exactly like Sahibzada Baba Ajeet Singh ji.  She remembered how he looked when he was 5 years old.  She picked up the child and gave him love.  She said: “stay in Delhi.”  Mata Sundri ji wanted this.  Mata ji said to Guru ji with her hands folded: “oh Master, if you want to leave me here, this boy is just like my son; give me this boy to raise.  I will adopt him and raise him like my own son.  I will make my mind happy in this way.  Give me your permission.  I will raise him and look at him.”  Sri Guru ji heard this and said: “if you raise this boy, when he grows up, he will give you pain.  If you look for someone to help you, you won’t find anyone to help you.  Stay happy like this.  Read Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji’s Bani for joy.  Spend the rest of your days in reading and listening to Gurbani.  Focus your mind into the Simran of Vahiguru.”  Mata Sundri ji heard this and was confused.  She thought to herself: “I wasn’t able to have my wish fulfilled by my husband.  If he grows up, what bad thing can he do?  I will be happy now; why is he not seeing this?  I will be alone and depressed.  I won’t have my son nor my husband with me.”  After a while, she said to Guru ji again: “I am in pain.  You didn’t give me permission.  I will be alone without you.  How will I live with this great pain?  Why do you not think of my state?  You are the Compassionate One.”  Satguru ji heard this and thought to himself: “she is in a lot of pain.  She can’t be made to understand.  She doesn’t see the reasoning.  She wants to raise the child.”  Guru ji said: “raise him then.  I see him giving you pain in the future.”  Mata ji heard this and took the child.  She had him sit near her.  She saw him as her own son, Baba Ajeet Singh ji.  She received her husband’s permission.  She named him the same as her own sin.  The boy was named “Ajeet Singh.”  She took the boy from the Suniyara Sikh.

Guru ji then spoke to Mata Sahib Devi ji to stay in the city.  The Master said: “stay with your other sister right here.  What will you do going to the Dakhan?  You can live here with joy and peace.  The Sangat will come and do your Pooja.  The travel to the Dakhan will be like Hell.  Women will find it painful.”  Mata Sahib Devi ji folded her hands and said: “I have made this my Nem: I do your Darshan first, bow to your lotus feet and then I eat food.  This is how I got all my joys.  I am in Paramanand with your Sangat.  I don’t care about the pains of travel.  All of the joys are in your company.  To have the Sangat do my Pooja, by separating from you, I have no such wish.  You know every heart.  I can’t speak these words.  Test my love and keep me with you.  This is my only wish, oh Master; please complete it.” Guru ji saw her humility and accepted her request.

Mata Sundri ji was left with the Delhi Sangat.  Guru ji headed towards Delhi.  As Guru ji started off, Bahadhur Shah sent an Umraav to Guru ji.  He placed gifts in front of Guru ji and bowed with his hands folded.  He told everything to Prabhoo ji: “he has won the battle and attained the Sultanate.  He is in Agra right now.  He speaks about you everyday.  He waits to meet you.  Please be compassionate and give him your Darshan.  Speak the sweet words and make him happy.”  Sri Guru ji said: “there is no delay from my side.  I have made preparations to leave.  Tell the Shah that I am on my way.  I will come in a few days.”  The Umraav heard this and said: “the Shah has a lot of love for you but he fears the Shariya following people.  He can’t come towards you.  The Shariya Law his father has set, they all follow it.  He has thousands of wise people with him who were given statuses by Aurangzeb.  They all sit with Bahadhur Shah now.  This is the reason why he can’t come.  He is hesitant to come.  He wishes for your Darshan.”  The Umraav made many requests to Guru ji.  Sri Prabhoo ji gave a Siropa to the Umraav.  He was given leave.  The Umraav came to Bahadhur Shah and told him what Guru ji said.  Bahadhur Shah said: “I wish to meet Guru ji and do his Darshan.”

1-45 Mathura/ Monkeys/ Clean Water

Where the cremation of Satguru Tegh Bahadhur ji’s body was done, a beautiful Darbar was made there, known as Gurduara Rakabh Ganj Sahib.  Guru Gobind Singh ji had his father’s place built by funding it.  He made the Satsangat come together there.  Mata Sundri ji was settled in the city.  She was to handle the administrative and transactional tasks of the Guru’s home.  All of the Dasvand was to come to her.  Guru ji wanted to ride his horse then.  Guru ji told everyone of his intentions to leave.  All of the Sikhs came to meet Guru ji.  They brought many types of gifts and folded their hands.  They bowed to the feet of the House of Joy.  By the love and devotion the Sikhs had, Guru ji completed their wishes.  The Sikhs engrained Guru ji’s form into their eyes.  Their eyes were like the lotuses facing the sun; like the Chakors looking towards the moon.  Satguru ji’s beautiful eyes were filled with compassion and casted his holy sight over all.  Satguru ji had all his weapons fastened to his body as he sat.  He was dressed in various clothes and weapons.  The Master gave joy to all.  The Sikhs folded their hands and bowed their foreheads to Guru ji’s feet.  Guru ji asked for his horse to be prepared.  The horse was saddled and brought.  Mata Sundri ji bowed to Guru ji with the deepest respect.  This was the time of separation.  She engrained Guru ji’s form in her heart.  Her husband lived in her heart and she was able to see him all the time for the rest of her days.  Guru ji gave her hope.  He gave hope to all of the Sikhs.  Guru ji held the reins of his horse and placed his foot into the stirrup.  He mounted his horse and set off with the Khalsa from Delhi.  The people of Delhi came to meet Guru ji.  Mata Sahib Devi ji went with Guru ji.  Mata Sundri ji remained in Delhi by Guru ji’s command.  Mata Sundri ji commanded the whole Panth for the rest of her days.

Prabhoo ji travelled a long way.  He set up Dheras along the way.  They all travelled for 3 days in an easy way.  The Killer of Sinners came about 5 Kos close to Mathura.  Guru ji had the camp set up before reaching Mathura.  They all ate and rested the night.  Guru ji slept the night in joy.  In the morning, he bathed and did his daily cleansing routines.  Guru ji and the Khalsa travelled on and arrived in Mathura.  This is the place where Krishan ji did many joyful tasks.  In Sooraj Kund, Guru ji set up the Dhera.  Guru ji saw the beautiful waters of the Jamuna, standing at her shores.  The water was a dark tint.  It was given to her by Krishan ji, where he played and wandered the area.  Satguru ji looked at the different areas.  He saw the places where Bhagavan Krishan ji killed the sinners.  Guru ji crossed the Jamuna and arrived in Gokul Puri.  This is where Pootna the sinner was killed.  Trinavart, who became a tornado to kill Krishan ji, was killed there.  The sinner Bakasur, the strong, was killed there.  Aggasur, the younger brother of Bakasur was killed there.  The Master walked through Vrindavan, where Krishan ji played with the Gopis and did the Raas Mandal with them.  Where Brahma took all of the calves of the cows to test Krishan ji, Guru ji saw that place.  He then saw the Govardhan Parvat, which Inder wanted to destroy.  Krishan ji picked up the mountain on his finger and destroyed the ego of Inder.  Guru ji then saw the pond where Kalia was tamed.  He saw the trees on which Krishan ji used to jump on.  He saw the alleys and roads where Krishan ji played.  He saw the place where Krishan ji took the clothes of the Gopis.  Where Dhenak and Kesi were killed, Guru ji walked through those areas.  He travelled the whole area.  Where the Parmeshwar played in the form of Krishan; he now came as the Guru form to see the same places.  Guru ji crossed the Yamuna where Krishan ji killed the Dhobi (launderer) of Kans.  Guru ji saw the place where Kubja, the hunched-back girl, met Sri Krishan ji.  He made her back straight.  Guru ji saw the place where Krishan ji broke the bow.  Where Krishan ji broke the tusks of the killer elephant; where he wrestled and killed Chandoor and Mushti; where Kans was killed by Krishan ji, by holding him by the hair and throwing him; Guru ji came there.  Guru ji then came to Bishrant Ghatt, where Krishan ji rested after fighting Kans.  A lot of Brahmins came there and Guru ji gave them donations.  Guru ji saw the shores of the Yamuna and set up the Dhera there.

When everyone came to Guru ji, monkeys came there, jumping around like clever kids.  They had long tails.  They ran and flapped their tails.  One Singh had taken off his shield.  One of the monkeys picked up the shield and ran away with it.  He climbed a tree with the shield.  The Singh got angry and aimed his rifle at the monkey.  When he aimed, Guru ji stopped him.  The monkey jumped over many trees with the shield.  Sri Prabhoo ji looked at him and laughed.  Other monkeys chased the monkey with the shield.  Guru ji then told everyone to get Pakvaans and Ladoos, or whatever everyone liked.  He had the sweets put in front of the monkeys.  Hundreds of monkeys came to eat the sweets.  They finished everything.  They yelled and shrieked while they ate.  Guru ji saw them all.  Some monkeys fought each other to take the foods.  They showed their teeth and moved their ears.  They showed anger-filled eyes.  They all ate the sweets.  Guru ji saw many types of monkey species.  The shield was still with the monkey.  The Singh said: “I lost my shield.  He ate the sweets and didn’t leave the shield.  Let’s scare him or shoot at him.  I can run and get my shield.  Otherwise he will take it with him.  He is holding it tightly.  He keeps jumping over trees.”  Prabhoo ji stopped him from shooting and spoke himself: “come here!”  The monkey heard Guru ji and came to him.  Guru ji had a ladoo on the palm his hand.  The monkey came there.  The monkey placed the shield in front of Guru ji and sat near him.  He sat with Guru ji without fear.  He ate the ladoo.  Guru ji patted the monkey on the head.  The monkey then bowed to Guru ji after a while.  Guru ji gave him more ladoos.  The monkey took the ladoos and then ran away.  The Singh took back his shield.  Everyone was shocked to see this.  Everyone protected their belongings and became aware.  They didn’t let anyone come close to them.  They ate and then rested the night.

In the morning, everyone bathed in the Jamuna.  Guru ji made preparations to leave.  They travelled on and would set up camp at night.  Guru ji travelled during the day with the Khalsa.  One day as Guru ji travelled, he became thirsty.  He asked for water.  Somebody said: “there is a beautiful home of Brahmin Hindus that have clean water.”  One Singh went and brought water from the home.  He came back to Guru ji.  Guru ji asked: “from whose home is this?”  The Singh folded his hands and said: “from the home of a lady Brahmin.  She had no child though.  For this reason, their water is pure.”  Satguru ji heard this and spilled the water onto the ground.  As Guru ji poured out the water, he spoke: “the water from her home was not pure.  How can an alone person be pure?  Where many children are, that home is pure.  That person does not have Bhagti nor good character.  The Ghristi that has many children, their water is pure.  Where many Ghristis live, that house is pure.  Homes with alone people are damned.  Even the Devatas do not eat from those homes.  They are cursed homes who are Ghristis without children.  They have nothing to give forward.  The Sadhoo is better alone, though.  Their body is pure and their mind is pure.  The Grishti with many children is pure.  Their body and mind are pure.”

Guru ji said this and travelled on.  They went to the next village and found a well.  The Singhs took out the water and gave it to Guru ji.  Guru ji drank the water and then travelled on.  They travelled towards Agra.  They travelled a long way.  They travelled a Jozen and then set up the Dhera in a nice place.  They gathered grass and grains for the horses.  They all slept the night.  The news reached Agra City: “the Guru of the World, the Guru Bhagavan, the Handsome One, the giver of joy to the servants, has blessed us and is coming this way.  He is only 4 Kos away.”  The ones who knew of Guru ji’s glory, they were in bliss by hearing this news.
