6-51 Bhai Ghareeaa/ Meeya Daula

Bhai Ghareeaa ji was a great Sikh.  He stayed with Guru ji and obtained a lot of Gyaan.  He did the Seva of the Guru’s lotus feet with great love.  Sri Guru Hargobind ji was a great warrior.  He was like the moon, his Sikhs were like the Chakors, who couldn’t keep their eyes off of him.  Guru ji said to Bhai Ghareeaa ji with love: “go to Kashmir now.  Go to Kashmir and teach Sikhi to the Sikhs there.  Collect the Dasvand and bring it when you come.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji was happy to hear this.  He folded his hands and bowed to Guru ji’s feet.  He left for Kashmir.  As he travelled, he had the form of Guru ji in his heart.  He did Simran as he walked.  He said: “Satnam,” as he walked.  He slowly reached Gujarat, Punjab first.  Many Sikhs lived here, who found out about Bhai Ghareeaa ji’s arrival in Gujarat.  The Sangat got together and came to meet him.  They welcomed him with respect.  They went ahead to meet him.  They bowed to him with humility as if he was Guru ji himself.  The Guru lives in the Sikhs.  They had Bhai Ghareeaa ji stay in one of the Sikh’s homes.  They washed his feet with warm water.  They laid out a beautiful bed.  They had him sit with love on it.  The Sikhs took Charanamrit from Bhai Ghareeaa ji.  They did his Seva in many ways.  They made delicious foods for him.  They insisted on feeding him more food as he was eating.

There was a Fakir named Meeya Shah Daula ji there, hence the name “Shah Daula di Gujarat,” referring to the Gujarat in Punjab.  He was a lover of the Parmeshwar.  He always wished to be in the Sangat of saints.  He wished to be one with Maula Akaal Purakh.  He heard of Bhai Ghareeaa ji’s arrival and became filled with love.  He came to meet the Sikh.  Meeya Shah Daula had the signs of a great saint and was a philanthropist.  He was compassionate who could not see anyone else in pain.   He made efforts to help others with his mind, body and wealth.  He would make everyone’s pain go away.  When he would see a poor person or an elderly person who would be hungry or without clothes, he would help them all.  He made people work and paid them for it.  He would get the rich people to hire the poor ones.  He would make the poor people fix the old wells.  He would pay them to fix it.  He would have them re-build the roads and streets in the villages.  He had plants planted on both sides of the streets.  Sometimes he would hire more people than he would have money to pay for.  The poor would come to get money and then he would grab a shovel and begin digging.  He would some how find something that would be worth money.  He would then pay the poor who worked for him.  He was altruistic.  He took care of the poor, whether they were Hindu or Muslim.  He helped both.  Everyone went to Meeya Daula ji’s home.  They would request him for help.  He would fulfill everyone’s wishes.  This was his personality.  He loved to be in the company of saints.  He saw Bhai Ghareeaa jis as a great saint.   He met Bhai Ghareeaa ji with great love.  Both met each other with love.  They were both happy to meet each other.  They bowed to each other and hugged.  They asked each other how they were.  The conversation of Guru ji began.  The Fakir had met Guru ji before.  He said: “Dhan Guru Hargobind Sahib ji has blessed millions.  He meets the fortunate ones.   Shah Daula ji was really happy and made a request: “the Bani that Guru Arjan Dev ji has uttered, I wish to hear Sukhmani Sahib.  Can you recite it for me?  It is the Bani of the Guru.  It has the praises of Allah in it.  I wish to hear that.”  As he spoke with love, Bhai Ghareeaa ji sat down.  He began reciting Sukhmani Sahib.  Shah Daula ji listened with a focused attention.  He heard the first Salok and Pauri up to the Rahao “Sukhmani Sukh Amrit Prabh Naam.. Bhagat Janaa Ke Man Bisraam.. Rahao..”  Shah Daula ji was filled with bliss and began to think about the meanings.  He was happy and then said: “I received what I wanted to.  The words of the Guru have hit my heart.  I understand the glory of this.  The Name of the Prabhoo is the thing that gives all the joys.  Without the saint, this Name cannot be achieved.  No task can be completed without the saint.  I am satisfied now.  I don’t need to hear anything else now.  There is no other Bani like Gurbani.  I heard one line and achieved the ultimate status.  I heard the 2 lines of the Rahao.  Jog and Bhog can be achieved with this.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji heard this and was happy.  He said, while smiling: “Shah Daula ji, you are great!”  They both spoke about it and were happy.  They had the love for the Satguru in their hearts, a lot.

Bhai Ghareeaa ji stayed for 2 more days.  When he was leaving, Shah Daula ji, along with the Sangat, came to meet him.  Bhai Ghareeaa ji said his farewell.  Shah Daula ji walked with him for a while.  They both spoke about Guru ji.  They walked outside of the village and saw a broken road.  Bhai Ghareeaa ji’s shoes were broken.  His sole would make dust fly as he walked.  It made the dust go on to the clothes.  His legs became dirty.  Shah Daula ji saw this and decided to give him a new pair of shoes.  He thought to himself: “had I known this yesterday, I would have got him new shoes.  He is poor and does not have money to buy shoes.  He has to go far.  I will give him a power.  He can use the power to dig money out of the ground like me.  He will be happy, and I will be rewarded.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji had the power of listening to other’s minds.  He knew what the Fakir was thinking: “he thinks the Sikhs of the Guru are without money or without powers.  I will show him the power of Guru Nanak Dev ji so his doubt will go away.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji stood and looked at the ground.  Wherever he looked, the dust and land became gold.  The rocks became gems.  Daula Peer saw this and was amazed.  He realised that the Sikh was powerful: “he is complete in every way.  He does not care about money.  He is the king of kings and has all the powers.  He has the tolerance to keep his powers hidden.  He accepts the will of Allah.  He keeps a poor person’s form.  He is patient and has no greed for money.”  Shah Daula ji folded his hands and bowed to Bhai Ghareeaa ji’s feet.  He praised him: “the Sikhs of the Guru are great.  Your Guru is great.  You keep all those powers inside of you.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji said: “the Guru’s home has no shortages.  The Sikhs have a lot of powers along with forgiveness.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji then took leave and went to Kashmir.

Bhai Ghareeaa ji reached Kashmir.  The Sangat came to meet him with love.  They bowed to his feet and rubbed the dust from his shoes onto their foreheads.  They took the Hukamnama for Guru ji and put it to their heads.  They read the Hukamnama and were happy.  They celebrated the day of the Guru with the Sangat.  They brought their Dasvands to Bhai Ghareeaa ji and had a receipt written.  Many types of foods were prepared.  The whole Sangat got together and had Langar.  The beggars were given what they needed.  Bhai Ghareeaa ji spent the money of the Sangat within Kashmir.

Bhai Ghareeaa ji came back to Guru ji and bowed to his feet.  Satguru ji asked: “what did you bring?  What did the Sangat give to you?”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji said: “listen Sri Guru ji, Master, you are omniscient.  The Pooja that the Sikhs gave me, I already gave it to you.  The Guru’s Day was celebrated and the Sikhs were satiated.  You experienced the joy from every heart.  It made you happy.”  Satguru ji heard this and began to laugh.  He said: “you did good.  You are a great Sikh!”  The Masands that were sitting with Guru ji, Guru ji said to them: “the money and wealth that came from the Sangat of Kashmir, I have taken care of it all.”  The benevolent one was happy and commanded: “go to your home now with joy.  Spread the message of Sikhi to the world.  Your effort has been accepted.  Sit in your home and do Simran of Murari.”  Bhai Ghareeaa ji took leave from Guru ji and went to his home.  He kept on doing Simran while focusing his attention on to the feet of Guru ji.  Whoever came to Bhai Ghareeaa ji with their requests, he used to give them money from his home.  When the money would be less and the requestors would increase, he would say to all: “whoever wants a son, come and give 5 Rajitpuns here.  They will get a son, quickly.”  He would take the money and give it to the poor.  He would do Simran of the Name and do the Seva of the Satguru.  He was altruistic.  He would help men and women that came to him.

6-52 The Katha of Pandit Nitanand

One day, Satguru ji said: “let’s listen to a Katha.”  There was a Sikh sent to Vatala and told: “there is a great Pandit named Nitanand that lives in Vatala.  Call him here.”  The Sikh went to Vatala and met Pandit Nitanand.  He said to him: “Guru ji wishes to hear a Katha from you.  Take your book and come with me.”  The Pandit was happy to hear this.  He got ready and set off with the Sikh.

Pandit Nitanand came to Guru ji.  Guru ji respected the wise Pandit a lot.  The next day he started his Katha.  He started the Kathas of kings and emperors.  Big Divaans would happen.  Many would come to listen for long periods of time.  He explained a lot of ideologies.  One day, such a passage came in his Katha: “the way to the dimension of the Jumms is very far.  It takes the soul one year to get there.”  The Sikhs heard this and talked amongst themselves after the Pandit was done his Katha.  4 Gursikhs talked, Bhai Sundar ji said: “the Pandit says it takes one year to get to the Jumms.  With the Guru’s blessing I can get there in half a day.”  Bhai Lala ji heard this and said: “by Guru ji’s compassion, I can get there in 6 hours.  I would not take longer than that.”  Bhai Muya ji said: “by Guru ji’s blessing, I can get there in 3 hours.”  Bhai Nihal ji said: “with Guru ji’s blessing, I can get there in a second.  I will go to the place which Pandit ji is talking about.”  As they spoke, the Pandit looked at them with shock.  He said to Guru ji: “what are the Sikhs saying?  How did they have the Gyaan for this?  Ved Vyaas ji has written this.  Oh compassionate Satguru, you know about this.  Whatever is written in the Garud Puraan, is it false then?  Sire, are the Sikhs lying?  How can they reach such a far distance in a day?”  Guru Hargobind Sahib ji looked towards Bhai Gurdas ji and said: “remove the doubt of the Pandit.  Give him the response and make him calm.”

Bhai Gurdas ji understood Guru ji and said: “Pandit ji, listen: what you say from the Puranas is correct.  Whatever Ved Vyaas has written in the Puranas is all true.  The whole world listens to this.  The Sikhs of the Satguru are also correct.  They worship the Satguru.  They do his Upasana.  The world that is stuck in “Karma Kaand,” they are stuck in good and bad; pure and impure; right and wrong.  Those people will take a year.  The virtuous one will have many vehicles to go on though.  For this reason, they can reach in a day which takes a normal person a year.  They can go to Dharmaraj and figure out their accounts.  The sinners are beaten on the way as they go.  They walk on foot and are in pain as they go.  They reach in 1 year and receive punishment.  This is what the Puranas are referring to.  This does not apply to the Sikhs of the Guru.  Jumms don’t go close to the Sikhs of the Guru.  The Jumms are afraid of the Sikhs.  They don’t come close.  Dharmaraj meets the Sikhs with respect.  When the Sikhs go there, everyone praises them.  They say: “great work!”  The Sikhi of Guru Nanak Dev ji is great.  It has a great significance everywhere.  The Sikhs speak as per their powers.  They do not lie.  These Sikhs do have these powers, which were given to them by Guru ji.  Whoever the Guru blesses, that person doesn’t even need a second to get there.  This is written in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in many places.  The Jumms don’t go close to the ones that are blessed by Guru ji.  For this reason, the glory of the Guru is great.  The praises cannot be fully sung.”

The Pandit heard this and thought to himself: “I am not deserving of doing Katha near Guru ji.  He is the knower of past and future.  The whole world worships him.  There are millions of Sikhs in different lands.  Whoever remembers him, the Guru goes and helps them.  He completes the tasks of the Sikhs.  Everyone knows this.  He helps the Sikhs in the afterlife as well.  This is evident about Guru ji.  He is the creator of the universe and the destroyer.  If I come to his sanctuary, my pains will be cut as well.”  The Pandit thought about this and touched Guru ji’s feet.  He said: “please forgive me.  I was proud of my caste.  You are omnipotent and omniscient.  I didn’t know your greatness.  Let me into your sanctuary and destroy my bad wisdom.  I am no longer proud of my caste.  Break my bonds and make me your Sikh.”  Satguru ji heard this and smiled.  He understood that the Brahmin’s fortune awoke.  Guru ji gave the Pandit the Charanamrit of his feet.  He was now a Sikh.  The Pandit was without ego now.  The Guru blessed him with the knowledge of everything.

The Pandit now had the power to get to the dimension of the Jumms in a few seconds.  He felt this and came into bliss.  He came to teach but learnt himself.  He took Guru ji’s permission and continued the Katha of the Puranas.  The Sikhs and the warriors all heard this and sung the praises of Guru ji.  when the Katha was complete, the Pandit was given many gifts.  He made his life a success.  The Sangat gave him money as well.  He was in bliss.  He stayed with Guru ji and sent his money back to his home.  He did darshan of Sri Satguru ji everyday.  He thought about all the amazing tasks of Guru ji.

The Sangat came from far away.  Their wishes were all fulfilled.  They brought a lot of money and gifts for Guru ji.  They came and worshipped the feet of Guru ji.  Guru ji went hunting as much as he wished to.  He hunted in the jungles.  He would laugh and enjoy himself with the Sikhs everyday.  He blessed many people everyday.  He practiced Shastervidya everyday.  The warriors practiced with him as well.  They would all go shooting with riffles.  Guru ji would teach them how to shoot and release arrows.  Many Sikhs learned and practiced.  They would talk about the battles amongst themselves.  They were all in joy.  They would talk about destroying the Turks: “the fools were killed like this, who were proud of their kingdoms.”  The talk would happen in the Divaan.  The praise of Guru ji spread in the world.  Everyone knew that.  They would say: “there is no warrior like Guru ji.  He can kill many, all alone.  He can fight one-on-one or many.  He doesn’t care about that.  He can kill anyone who attacks him.  Guru ji practices archery a lot.  He is able to kill many at once with one arrow.  His bow is fierce and heavy.  Nobody can tie the string on it.  Whoever attacked Guru ji, that person died.  Only the ones who ran away, survived.”  Guru ji’s praises spread everywhere.  People talked about him inside and outside of their homes.

6-53 Baba Bhudda ji goes to Sach Khand

Baba Bhudda ji’s home was in Ramdas Village.  He spent many days there in the bliss of the Brahm.  Baba ji’s time to leave his body was near.  Baba ji knew it was his time to go.  He made a wish in his heart, seeing his end time approaching, he wanted Guru Hargobind Sahib ji near him when he would leave his body: “when I leave this body, I wish for Guru ji’s face to be in front of my eyes.  Munis and other saints wish for this as well.  I will do one more thing: I will have my son, Baba Bhanna ji, be given the responsibilities I had.  It is good that he takes the Seva of the Guru’s home.  My whole family is in the sanctuary of Guru ji.  The world, afterlife, beginning and end; the Guru is our only support.  Only the Bhagwant is our support.”  In this way, he called a Gursikh and instructed him: “go to the home of the Guru, quickly.  Request him from me for him to come here, seeing me as his old servant.  Just as Krishna went to Hastinapur from the Kurukshetra in the battle of Mahabharat; taking the victorious Pandavs with him; he gave the kingship to Yudhistir; he met Bhisham Pitamah, who fulfilled his Dharma by lying on a bed of arrows, let go of his body when his time was coming; he thought of Krishna ji before leaving; Krishan ji left everything and came back to the Kurukshetra; he met him at his end time; I am in the same position; please come see me in the same way.  Just as Jatayu was visited by Ram Chander ji; while finding Seeta ji; he came to him seeing his end time; I too am your servant, come to me.  Show me your form, oh dispeller of sins.”  The Sikh bowed and left.

The Sikh came quickly to Sri Hargovindpur.  He bowed and gave Guru ji the message with love.  Satguru ji heard his beloved Sikh’s plea and got ready right away.  The army got ready.  Bhai Bidhi Chand ji and Bhai Gurdas ji got ready with Guru ji.  Guru ji told the Sangat: “Baba Bhudda ji’s end time is near.  He wishes to see me.”  Guru ji left a Jathedaar in charge for the army.  Some warriors were stationed to stay.  He gave everyone hope and mounted his horse.  The army got ready and mounted their horses with Guru ji.  Some Sangat and warriors came and some took care of the village.  They all headed to Ramdas Village.  They went quickly and didn’t stop on the way.  Guru ji ran his horse fast.  They travelled quickly.

On the way, Bhagat Namdev ji’s place came.  There was a beautiful Mandir there, in the village Ghumaan.  Bhagat Namdev ji had come here to preach at one time.  After Baghat Kabeer ji, Namdev ji is considered the next highest.  Guru ji got off his horse and bowed to the place of Bhagat Namdev ji.  Bhagat Namdev ji was the Bhagat of Prabhoo.  Guru ji saw him as a high saint.  It was like Ram Chander ji visiting the Ashram of Matanga Muni with great effort.  He bowed to the place in the same way.  Guru ji was establishing a great tradition.  Guru ji then set off again.  Night fell and everyone rested.  In the morning, everyone set off again.

As Guru ji reached close to Ramdas Village, one person saw Guru ji coming.  He came to Baba Bhudda ji and said: “Baba Bhudda ji, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji has arrived!”  Baba Bhudda ji heard this and became filled with love.  His hair raised on its ends.  Tears shed from his eyes.  His throat swelled with emotion and could not speak.  He was completely filled with love.  He got up and started to walk around.  He tried walking outside his home but couldn’t.  He sat on the ground.  His body was like a spiky fruit as his hair was standing on its ends.  He held to Guru ji’s form in his heart.  He lost sense of his self.  Guru ji arrived with Baba Bidhi Chand ji and Bhai Gurdas ji.  Baba Bhudda ji was in a Samadhi.  It looked like he was a great Jogi, sitting in meditation for many years.  Guru ji stood there and kept looking at Baba Bhudda ji.  The omniscient one knew what was happening.  Baba Bhudda ji was in the highest status.  Guru ji was filled with love as well.  Guru ji’s eyes filled with tears.  Guru ji could not speak.  He just stood there.  Bhai Gurdas ji advanced and bowed to Baba Bhudda ji.  He shook Baba ji to wake him.  Baba Bhudda ji opened his eyes and saw Guru ji in the form of love.  Guru ji was mesmerised by Baba Bhudda ji’s form.  Baba Bhudda ji jumped and grabbed Guru ji’s feet.  Guru ji came down and held Baba Bhudda ji’s feet.  He picked Baba ji up by the arm and supported him to his bed.  The Sangat and warriors all bowed to Baba ji.  The Sikhs of Ramdas Village bowed to Guru ji.  Everyone sat down in Baba ji’s home.

Baba Bhudda ji spoke with his hands folded: “you are great Guru ji.  This is not a new thing that you did.  You have done this for your Bhagats in every Yuga.  You are under the spell of your Bhagats.  You are under to spell of the love from your servants.  You don’t care about reputation or what the world thinks.  You only follow your promise to protect your Bhagats.  You came here to visit me.  My body’s end time his near.  You were compassionate and gave me your Darshan.  You are the great Guru who is under the influence of his Sikhs.”  Sri Guru ji heard this and gave Baba ji a response: “you illuminated the path of Sikhi.  Whoever follows your way, whoever visits your places; whoever listens to your Katha; they will get Sikhi.  They will not burn in the fire of their sins.  The ones who say your name will become Sikhs and cross this world ocean.”  Guru ji spoke to Baba ji in this way.  They spoke to each other.  Baba Bhudda ji reached the 7th state of Turiya Avastha, where the individuality finishes.

Guru ji had the Dhera set up in the home.  Langar was made and distributed.  Baba ji’s family served everyone with respect.  They all did Seva and gave joy to all.  Degh and Prashaad was ready.  Many types of foods were made.  Sweet, salty and spicy food were made.  Baba ji sat with Guru ji and had him eat.  He called his family to bring more food for Guru ji.  The whole army got Langar as well.  Baba Bhudda ji had a nice bed laid out for Guru ji as it was nighttime.  The bed was huge as Guru ji was over 7 feet tall.  Baba Bhudda ji had his bed set on the floor.  Guru Hargobind Sahib ji knew what Baba ji was doing and so Guru ji left the bed and laid on the ground, next to Baba Bhudda ji.  They both sat up and continued having discussions of Parmeshwar.  Sri Guru ji spoke about Brahm Gyaan.  He said: “you are great that you met Guru Nanak Dev ji and all the Gurus.  You stayed close to them and saw the traditions.  You know of the loss and profit.  You know everything.  Give me some wisdom.  See me as your servant.  Be compassionate with me and give me good wisdom.”  Baba Bhudda ji said: “you are Narayan!  You took on the 6th beautiful form.  You protect the Sikh, cow, Brahmin and poor.  You took on this form to protect them.  Jogis focus on your form.  The Bhogis do your Seva to get worldly things.  You are the form of the Brahm Aatma.  You are the form of bliss.  You are the Jot and came into the world as a human.  Your form is amazing and beautiful.  You give the whole world wisdom.  What wisdom can I give you?  Take the arm of my son.  Keep him in your Seva as you did to me.  Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, Sri Guru Angad Dev ji, the leader of the Bhallas Guru Amardas ji, Sri Guru Ramdas ji and Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji all preached Sikhi.  They made millions of Sikhs.  I did their Seva.  All of the Gurus accepted my pleas.  My son will stay in your Seva.”

Bhai Bhanna ji was called.  He bowed and sat near Guru ji.  Bhai Bhanna ji was close to a 100 in age.  Baba Bhudda ji grabbed Bhai Bhanna ji’s arm and handed it to Guru ji to hold.  Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji held Bhai Bhanna ji’s arm with both his hands.  He took Bhai Bhanna ji’s hand and put it on his own head.  Guru ji assured Baba Bhudda ji and continued talking about spirituality all night long.  They spent 9 hours like this.  They conversed all night long.

Baba Bhudda ji then took Guru ji’s permission and got up.  Baba Bhudda ji went to take a bath with cold water.  He then came back to Guru Hargobind Sahib ji.  He was happy and sat near Guru ji.  Baba Bhudda ji sat cross-legged and recited Japji Sahib.  He recited it slowly and carefully.  After completing it, he bowed to Guru Hargobind Sahib ji’s feet.  He said to his family: “lay a Kush Asan for me.  Sing Keertan.  Sprinkle fragrance everywhere.  Do Simran of Satnam.  Light Divas.  Gather the Sangat.”  Everyone obeyed and came to Baba Bhudda ji.  They did as he said.  Baba Bhudda ji folded his hands and said to Guru ji: “please give me permission to go on ahead.  I wish to reach the status of your feet.  I wish to immerge into you.”  Satguru ji said: “oh beloved one, sit down.  Just as space is everywhere, Brahm is everywhere.  Mix into the Brahm.”  Baba Bhudda ji heard this and laid down on the Kush Asan.  He took a white sheet on top of him.  He kept his eyes open and kept looking at Guru ji.  Satguru ji looked into Baba Bhudda ji’s eyes.  He was directing his Aatma into his own.  Baba Bhudda ji’s Aatma became One with Guru ji.  He left his body.  It was empty.  It was like an elephant breaking a flower garland from its neck.  Baba Bhudda ji easily left his body.  He was always One with the Guru.  His life was great.  He was benevolent.  He had established the foundation of Sikhi.

6-54 Mai Desa Jatti Receives 7 Sons

Baba Bhudda ji was a great Sikh.  He was like Bhagat Kabir ji.  Baba Bhudda ji lived till 125 years.  Bhagat Kabir ji was 120 years old when he left for Sach Khand.  As Baba Bhudda ji left his body, the Devatas all came to receive him.  Many vessels came to get his Aatma.  The Devatas gathered in the water, land and sky.  They all shouted Jaikaras for Baba Bhudda ji.  The sky went red.  Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji sat next to Baba Bhudda ji’s body.  He saw his body calm.  Guru ji folded his hands and bowed.  Keertan was happening near his body.  There was a big celebration with a lot of people.  People saw amazing things on the ground and in the sky.  The Rababis were singing Asa Vaar with Shabads of Vairagya in between the Vaar.  As the Shabads were sung, the sun rose.  Satguru ji had the preparations made for the cremation.

A platform was prepared with zarri and expensive sheets.  Garlands of flowers were placed on it.  Baba Bhudda ji’s body was bathed.  New clothes were put on him.  They put his body on the platform and placed expensive cloths on top.  Satguru ji picked up one side of the platform onto his shoulder.  Baba Bidhi Chand ji, Bhai Bhanna ji and Bhai Gurdas ji picked up the other sides.  Baba Sri Chand ji had arrived and walked with the body of Baba Bhudda ji.  The sangat all took turns carrying Baba ji’s body.  Baba ji’s grandson, Bhai Jhanda ji waived the Chaur on top.  The Sangat sang Shabads in front.  Rose and other essences were sprayed everywhere.  The instruments played along.  Money was showered onto his body.  People forgot about their money and homes as they saw Baba ji.  They all realised that the world was very temporary.  Everyone’s minds were still.  They did not think of their vices or desires.  This was the radiance of Baba Bhudda ji.  Everyone’s minds were pure.  A sandalwood pyre was prepared for him.  Ghee was placed on top of the body.  Bhai Bhanna ji put the pyre on fire and began to cry out loud.  Baba Bhudda ji was very dear to Guru ji.  Guru Hargobind Sahib ji shed tears from his eyes.  When everyone saw Guru ji shed tears, they all began to cry as well.  The traditions were all carried out.  Everyone bathed at the river and went back to the Dhera.

Guru ji came back and had a Divaan.  The Sangat gathered there as well.  Bhai Ajita ji saw a miracle.  He wanted to tell everyone about the glory of Baba Bhudda ji.  He stood up and folded his hands.  He said: “Sri Guru ji, please remove my doubt.  When we went for the cremation, Thousands of Sikhs had canopies over their heads.  When we came back, only you had the canopy left.  Everyone else lost it.  Please tell me what is it that I saw.”  Guru ji said: “when the Sangat was all going, everyone saw death.  Their minds were all purified by the Vairagya from this world.  They saw the truth.  When they came back, they all remembered their families and work.  They lost their canopies and got stuck in attachment again.  The canopy was Vairagya.  They all lost it when they came back.”  Guru ji then gave Bhai Bhanna ji hope: “what was supposed to happen, has happened.  This is the tradition of the world.  Whoever is born, they do their Karma and then leave from here.  The Sadhoos do Bhagti and leave with success.  They are praised here and there.  They are always alive.  The others die.  The Brahmgyaani is immortal.  Baba Bhudda ji is immortal.  He saved millions of others.  Nobody else can be like him.  He will be praised forever.  The Sikhs who think of him and praise him, they will get Sikhi.”  Satguru ji addressed the whole Sangat.  He gave them all Gyaan.  The Sangat of the villages came to the Divaan.  They all came and gave their condolences to Bhai Bhanna ji.  Sangat from Goindwal, Khadoor, Amritsar and other places came.

Langar was made and distributed day and night.  Guru ji and Bhai Bhanna ji ate.  The whole tradition was done.  On the fourth day, the ashes were collected.  The Sangat was sent to the Ganga to place Baba Bhudda ji’s ashes into it.  Bhai Gurdas ji was asked to do the Sahij Paath of Guru Granth Sahib ji.  He recited the Gurbani with love.  New Sangat came everyday.  Some stayed and some left.  On the 13th day, the Sahij Paath of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji was completed.  A big Divaan happened on that day, with Guru ji.  Guru ji tied a Pugri on Bhai Bhanna ji’s head after the Bhog of the Paath.  He placed him on the seat of Baba Bhudda ji.  The Sangat all came and bowed to him, while presenting him with gifts.  The Shabads in Raag Bilawal were sung with joy.  The Rababis were given a lot of money.  Everyone was given money and clothes.  It was a great celebration.  A lot of gifts were brought.  Bhai Bhanna ji was congratulated by everyone.  Guru ji gave out the commands and so they were completed.

One day, Sri Guru Hargobind ji was sitting with a lot of Sangat.  A lady came that was older than 40 years old.  She folded her hands and spoke out loud: “listen Guru ji!  I am from Patti.  My name is Desa.  I am of the Jatt caste.  I am married into the Sidhu clan.  I heard your praises and came to you.  You complete the wishes of the people.  I have faith that you will fulfill my wish.  I do not have a son.  I am taunted by others.  I have tried many things but I have not been successful.  I have come to you now.  Please give me a son.  I come to your sanctuary.”  Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji heard this and said: “you don’t have a son in your destiny.”  The woman heard this and felt depressed.  She was upset went away.  Bhai Gurdas ji saw the lady.  He saw her upset and asked her what was wrong: “why are you worried?”  The woman told Bhai Gurdas ji her whole story: “I came to the Satguru for a son.  He smiled and told me that I don’t have a son in my Karma.”  Bhai Gurdas ji heard the lady’s story and felt sorry.  He gave her wisdom on how to obtain a son: “go again with determination.  Take a quill, paper and ink.  When Guru ji says, “it’s not written in your Karma,” give him the quill, paper and ink.  Say to him: “you are the writer.  You didn’t write a son in my destiny before.  Write it now.  Bless me and write it now.  I come to your shelter.  Complete my wishes.”  The lady liked this idea.

The next day, Mai Desa did as Bhai Gurdas ji said.  She thought all night long about what to do and came to Guru ji in the morning.  Guru ji was getting ready to go hunting in the morning.  He wore his clothes and weapons.  He mounted his horse.  Other warriors were with him.  The cheetahs, dogs and hawks were ready.  Guru ji mounted his horse.  Other warriors came as well.  Guru ji stared to ride.  As he was exiting the village to go to the forest, Mai Desa came and stood in front of Guru ji.  She held the reins of the horse and said: “Guru Gareeb Nivaaj, I want one son.  I heard your praises.  You are omnipotent.  You are the master.  I beg of you this.”  Guru ji smiled and looked at her.  He said: “it is not written in your destiny.”  The lady saw her opportunity and came close to Guru ji.  She took out the paper, quill and ink.  She said to Guru ji: “you are the writer; here and there.  The people who don’t know that you are the writer, they are fools.  You didn’t write it there, please write it here now.”  Prabhoo ji understood that the lady knew her way to ask from Sadhoos.  Guru ji said: “you will have a son.”  Mai Desa said: “give me hope.  Confirm it.  Write it for me for my satisfaction.”  Guru ji was happy and took the pen and paper.  As he was about to write “1,” his horse moved by picking its foot up.  The 1 turned into a 7, as he was writing in Gurmukhi.  His pen stroke got extended.  Guru ji noticed the 7 and got happy.  He laughed and said: “you came to me to get 1 son but It’s now forced into a 7.  You will get 7 sons now.  Go now.  Your wish is fulfilled.  You will get 7 sons.”  Mai Desa was happy.  There was no limit to her happiness.  She said: “you are great!”  She bowed to Guru ji’s feet.  Guru ji asked her: “out of the 7, which son will you give to me?”  She said: “one will farm and one will tend to the well.  One will take care of the animals and one will be the Lainaydaar.  One will bring the feed.”  She assigned them all tasks and said: “all seven are yours.”  Guru ji said: “alright.”

The 7 sons of Mai Desa ji enlisted in the army of Guru Gobind Singh ji at Anandpur.  They all achieved Shaheedi.  Mai Desa ji went to her home and praised Guru ji to everyone.  Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji, the great and powerful warrior, more handsome that the moon, went hunting.  Guru ji went towards the denser area.

There is another historical account found that says: Mai Desa’s name was changed to Mai Sulakhani ji after receiving the boon from Guru ji.

6-55 The Earth in the Cow

Where the Airavati (Ravi) flows, Guru ji hunted near the shores.  Guru ji was the ocean of Gyaan, playing the role of a kings.  Guru ji looked towards the dense jungle.  From the jungle, a man was seen coming.  He was a Hindu.  He saw the complete Guru and bowed to Guru ji’s lotus feet.  He folded his hands and said: “Guru ji, Turks bother us in our area.  They kill our cows.  They forcefully come into our homes and terrorize us.  They show us their force.”  Satguru ji took the man forward.  He was going hunting but went with the man a few miles away.

Guru ji and the warriors pulled their swords out and killed the Turks.  Some ran away and some were killed.  The egotistical ones were killed that bothered the poor.  They were chased and cut to pieces.  Their village was close by and so their fellow villagers came to fight.  They brought their rifles and arrows.  They saw their dead and fought.  The Sikh warriors fought back.  Bullets were fired.  Many Turks were killed.  A lot of them ran away.  This was the village Chaapri.  They were sinners who terrorized the poor.  The warriors killed the Turks and burned the village.  The sinners were killed by the swords.  The power of the Earth took on the form of a cow and came, along with other Devatas.  Guru ji saw the cow, no one else could see it or the Devatas.  Dharti Mata came to plead to Guru ji: “relieve me of these sinners.  The Turks give me pain.  They sin in many ways.  I can’t take their weight anymore.  The reason why you have taken an Avatar, fulfill it now.  Destroy the rule of the Malesh.  Give peace to the Brahmin, cow and saints.  Destroy the Turk kingdom.”  Satguru ji heard this and gave hope to Dharti Mata in the form of the cow: “they will be destroyed in some time.  When my grandson comes, he will fight many great battles with them.  He will make a great Panth that will rule the earth for a long time.  He will destroy all the kingdoms of the Turks.  They will all finish, slowly.”  Dharti and the other Devatas heard this and bowed to Guru ji.  All of the sinners of Chaapri were killed and the village was reduced to ashes.  They had originally planned to hunt but something else happened in its place.

Guru ji and the warriors came back to the Dhera and discussed the fight they just had.  Where the home of Baba Bhanna ji was, Guru ji got off his horse and came there.  Baba Bhanna ji got off his seat and had Guru ji sit there.  He asked Guru ji: “where did you hunt today?”  Baba Bidhi Chand ji spoke: “we hunted sinners today and burnt their village.  They were sinners.  Guru ji got angry, seeing their sins and punished them.”  Everyone said: “Dhan Guru ji!”  Baba Bhanna ji said: “this is the reason why you picked up the weapons.  You punish the sinners who bother the poor.  You took an Avatar to punish the Malesh.”  Guru ji’s praises spread.  Guru ji protects the saints and kills the sinners.

Guru ji spent some time there.  He would speak about Baba Bhudda ji to Baba Bhanna ji.  They shared all his history which each other.  Baba Bhanna ji said: “Guru Nanak Dev ji used to live in Sri Kartarpur.  Baba Bhudda ji’s fortune awoke and met Guru ji there.  He was blessed to be in Guru Nanak Dev ji’s Sangat.  He got a lot of bliss from listening to Keertan.  He became a Brahmgyaani.  He made many Sikhs into Brahmgyaanis.”  Guru ji heard this and said: “I will go there!  I wish to go to Sri Kartarpur.”  Guru ji said this and got ready.  He took Baba Bhanna ji with him.  It was about 15 miles away from Ramdas Village.  Baba Bidhi Chand ji and other Sikhs went along with the Sangat.

They passed the Ravi and arrived in Sri Kartarpur.  It was the place of Guru Nanak Dev ji.  Guru ji got off his horse and bowed.  He did 4 Parkarmas of the place of Guru Nanak Dev ji.  Guru ji paid for Karah Prashaad being made and had it distributed.  Guru ji did an Ardaas and had the Prashaad distributed.  Guru ji then went to the place where Guru Angad Dev ji was given the Gurta Ghaddi.  Guru ji bowed to that place again and again.  He was drenched in love.  The Sangat was asked there by Guru ji: “why isn’t there a Dhera here that was built by Baba Sri Chand ji?  Where is the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev ji?”  The Sangat of Kartarpur said: “the Ravi overflowed here and took the land along with it, destroying the Dhera of Guru Nanak Dev ji.  Baba Sri Chand ji made another Dhera on the other side of the Ravi (where Dhera Baba Nanak is there today, near Ajitha Randhawa’s well).  The descendants of Guru Nanak Dev ji live there now.”  Everyone did the Darshan of Kartarpur.  Guru ji mounted his horse along with his warriors.

Guru ji then went to Dhera Baba Nanak and did the Darshan there.  Guru ji got off his horse and then walked to the Dhera.  He bowed and did 4 Parkarmas.  He sat down on the ground, with his hands folded.  Baba Dharam Chand ji, the grandson of Guru Nanak Dev ji was notified of Guru Hargobind Sahib ji’s arrival.  The Bedi family flourished from Baba Dharam Chand ji.  He was the son of Baba Lakshmi Das ji.  Baba Dharam Chand ji came to meet Guru ji.  He brought his family.  He had 2 sons, Baba Mehar Chand ji and Baba Manik Chand ji.  They all came to where Guru Hargobind Sahib ji was.  Guru ji, the flag of the Sodhis, stood up in respect of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s family.  Baba Dharam Chand ji was very old then.  The glory of Guru Nanak Dev ji was too great.  Guru ji bowed to Baba Dharam Chand ji.  Baba Dharam Chand ji bowed to Guru Hargobind Sahib ji.  They met with respect and then sat down.  They all asked how each other were.  Guru ji called for a lot of Prashaad.  Dry fruits and other foods were brought.  Guru ji did Ardaas to Guru Nanak Dev ji and had the Prashaad distributed.  1,000 silver Rajitpuns were given for the Seva of Dhera Baba Nanak.  Guru ji called his treasurer for 2 pairs of golden bracelets.  The treasurer brought the bracelets to Guru ji.  Guru ji gave a pair of golden bracelets to Baba Mehar Chand ji and Baba Manik Chand ji each, with great respect.  Baba Dharam Chand ji had Guru ji stay there the night.  The Bedis prepared Guru ji’s stay in the house.  It was a beautiful home.  They served all the Sikhs there.  Guru ji stayed the night.

In the morning, Baba Dharam Chand ji came and spoke about Guru Nanak Dev ji’s history to Guru ji.  Guru ji said: “Baba Sri Chand ji, where is he?  Where is he doing Tapasya right now?  Let’s go and do his Darshan.  He has gone old now.”  Baba Dharam Chand ji took Guru ji and the other Sikhs, along with the Bedis; to Baba Sri Chand ji.  On the way, they conversed about Guru Nanak Dev ji.  They talked about Gyaan.  They eventually reached to a Taali tree, under where Param Bridh (the supreme elder), Baba Sri Chand ji was sitting in Tapasya.  He was around 145 years old then.  Guru ji got off his horse as soon as he saw Baba Sri Chand ji from a distance.   The Sikhs also got off their horses.  They were still quite far.  Baba Dharam Chand ji and Guru ji brought sweets and bowed to Baba Sri Chand ji as they arrived.  Everyone bowed to Baba Sri Chand ji.  Baba Sri Chand ji spent his whole life in Tapasya.  Guru ji sat in front of him with great joy.  Baba Sri Chand ji opened his eyes and said: “tell me Purkha (the Complete One, in the space of the sky), is everyone well?  You fought battles and killed many sinners, I hear.”  Guru Hargobind ji heard this and said: “we are well by your blessings.  By your blessings, we get power.  It helped me on the battlefield.”  They had some more conversations with each other for some time.  They talked about the Brahm.  Guru ji then got up.  He folded his hands and bowed to his feet.  He asked for permission to leave.  Baba Dharam Chand ji came with Guru ji back to the Dhera.  Guru ji stayed for 3 nights.

Guru ji then got ready to go to Ramdas Village.  He bowed to the Dhera Baba Nanak and did 4 Parkarmas.  Guru ji bid farewell to Baba Dharam Chand ji and then mounted his horse.  Many soldiers were with Guru ji, who were in bliss.  Guru ji quickly came back to the village of Baba Bhudda ji, Jhanday-Ramdas.  He rested in the resting place.  They had new conversations and tasks to do.  Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji was a strong warrior.  He would go hunting sometimes.  He would kill many sinner animals in the jungle, suffering from their karma.  Baba Bhanna ji stayed with Guru ji the whole time.  He did Seva of Satguru ji and achieved a lot of bliss.
